Jonhammond? Looks like jurassic park aint shut yet ;)j/k

Welcome Mrbishi! The mini-zs are nifty, aren’t they? the size, coupled with the amount of hopups available should transform a grown adult into quivering juveniles onslaught. DGS73 is the usual old timer here, so are ph2t and a few others. We race on Sundays at meadowbank. Feel free to join.

The stock diff is quite inadequate for prolonged use. I took it apart once and sanded the bevel wells, this resulted in much less locking up. The tinest grain of sand will do that! Do you race in a clean area? The best bet is to race indoors on ozite, but of course, no-one here has that setup.

BTW jon, what brand of ball diff do you intend to use? we recommend nothing less than the kyosho brand……

I’ll be there next sunday. Sounds like everyone’s been breeding a speed demon while i was away! Time to see which of the mod motors is really fastest – although i cannot find my PN SO3 🙁

mocky u there? have you still got my motor and the turbo? I had a fet upgrade and the motor should be ok….

I purchased a T1 motor from taiwan, but it’s really from HK. It’s from a company called ATOMIC, and they’ve released their T2 recently (40000+rpm). the T1 is very interesting in that it uses the same motor case design as the famed Plasma DAsh from TAmiya. the brushes are very specialized.

THis motor is barely faster than my PN SO3 from memory. It cost an arm and a leg (45bucks)….I should get the PN SO4 Champion motor….i hear it’s the fastest machine wound yet.

Look forward to seeing u guys on sunday 🙂

    Hey fellas,

It’s been a while, but i’m coming back on friday….might even have time to recuperate and race on sunday. i’ve upgraded both my F1 and MRO1 with double stacks of 4562 fets, and added an atomic TORQUE TYPE i motor. Also i’ve given my F1 a body change (formerly Williams, now Panasonic Toyota) and bought a viper body for my mro1….wrowr.

Oh yeah, is this weekend on a sunday or sat? BTW here’s link to St Ives’s RC club

    http://www.zip.com.au/~dazb/stivesrc.html

Click on the indoor on-road section….the classes list a ‘2wd mini’ somewhere, but I heard they are mostly into 1/10’s like V2’s and stuff. There is a dirt track too but they use it for nitro trucks…..indoor sessions are held every 1st and 3rd friday of the month, at night. There’s an entrance fee and god knows what else we gotta pay bfore racing there

there is another basketball court, behind the architecture building. It was recently constructed, but requires student cards to get in. The older one, behind the student gym, is temporarily closed due to construction.

Racing in the city will draw more crowds for sure, and possibly introduce newcomers to this exciting hobby.

to be honest, there IS an on-road indoor carpet track in St Ives showground, where regular Tamiya and Kyosho touring car electric 1/10’s go. Last i heard it was a fortnightly thing, the track is purported to also run mini-z’s, although it’s not too popular there.

St Ives is deep within the northshore area and there are no currant train stations there. They also race off road in the field outside. It’s quite far for those who live in the southern suberbs.

There are 2 asphalt tennis courts in Killara, 6 in Regimental Park (Killara too), 2 at Lindfield station, 1 opposite the mandarin centre in Chatswood. As far as i know, i’ve got the tennis courts around Lindfield-Killara-Roseville-Chatswood down cold. Their surfaces are not dissimilar from those in Meadow Bank; the folk generally stay away unless it’s the afternoon.

There is a local scout hall in Lindfield, but it’s also used to store equipment. There is not much room for racing Z’s. In the city, on top of Darling Harbour carpark, there is a vast, mostly unused level with flat concrete. I used to race there, it was superb.

On the subject of RCP, i’d chip in, if only the final track would be big enough to be challenging and cool. The shipping expenses are hell tho. Kyosho is distributed in AU by….crap, can’t remember their name, but they’re NOT helpful. cheers.

kevsta, Geo-Z at your service. What d’ya wanna know about modding the almighty xbox?

there are some basketball courts in the city UTS campus, we may have to pay to get in…..just another possible venue. my opinion, we go somewhere teeming with ppl so they could oogle at our Z’s 😀

talldude, bummer mate! I’ve never had a gf *sob* but man, whatta coincidence. Hope it was smooth sailing after that.

Tim, thanks for the rings, i had no idea that darned M’z motor came with NO wires and rings (a first). dgs has them now, right?

There’s a new flu epidemic out there, i was just on the train 2day and half the people were sniffing and stuff…..vitamin C here i come

talldude, not to be nosy or something, but if a gf breaks up just bcuz of that, methinks she’s a shallow gal. I’m a kid too

:smiley2::smiley2: my xbox, mini-z and slot cars dominate my room and the bookshelf is filled with comics, sci-fi and kungfu movies. Once my sis had her friends over and they thought the room was inhabited by dennis the menace. rok on.

I’ve got a killer flu so, suffice to say, will not be there 2morrow….just my luck! I got it from my sis who contracted it from her snot-dripping patients. Hope it goes well.

Futaba has made a 1/24 scale indy car racer…it’s quite rare but stock is said to be faster than mini-zf1. I’d go with Mini-z F1 tho. Just a word of advice, the minizf1 groved tires wear out VERY quickly.

the odd kanga loitering about is nothing new…..damage-wise, just don’t be on the recieving end of their kicks. ABC’s (alien big cats) are a different kettle of fish…i sure as hell rather bump into a kanga than a cougar. There are rumored ABCs in the Blue mountains too, possibly pumas from US military personnel long ago. They seem to have adapted to the environment fairly well. Yes, i’m a nutter, i luv reading about these mysterious things.

Aaron: Once i was on a tour bus returning from Canberra…lol there were two enormous, gas-filled wombat carcasses on the deserted country road. Thick swarms of flies were visible from the distance…..the bus simply swatted them away – one took off like a winning goal, the other spun like crazy. :D:D

oh POO. Aaron shows up on the sunday i didn’t go….we shall meet at the national g2g. Be prepared.

kevsta: the M’z Stock is only slightly faster – it’s top end speed seems to be 1 tooth above the xspeed’s. but the difference is quite subtle, and the thing doesnt come with wires and rings. When i get the dough, i’ll try getting PN speedy….contrary to PN’s other miniz motors (SO3, SO2, etc), that motor is supposedly well within stock fet limits. it also has stronger ferrite magnets (not neos tho) than both xspeed and M’z…

Sorry guys, I’m unable to make it this sunday. Doh! would’ve liked to see everyone race, especially with tim and his buffed up z.

dgs, i think i’ll just scrap getting an h-plate off ya, i cannot even remember clearly whom i gave it to….i thought i wuz u, but could’ve been talldude….neway, my stock plastic h-plate hasn’t broken (yet).

kevsta: the M’z stock motor is slightly faster than the xspeed, but it has a rather strange configuration: the endbell has a ball bearing, whereas the case has…..a steel bushing. hmm. The motor doesn’t come with wires and rings, tho….but it DOES come with 3 caps, unsoldered. It uses normal ferrite magnets, so there’s no crazy torque a’la neodymium. The PN Speedy is supposedly the fastest non-fet motor for miniz’s. Kevsta, it’s shame we don’t see those cool shells on ur z!

Come down to hobbyco for cheap springs! MR01 rear roll and pitch spring sets 10 bux tops.

mocky, sometimes the short goes all the way back into the batteries, so the batteries might have shorted out……my NIMH’s once shorted out, they were so hot it smoked! after 6 hours, they seem to go back to norm…..

mercblue’s right, if the steering is kaput, then it may be a loose wire in the power structure….or maybe that motor drew too many amps and the battery terminal springs have deformed themselves. This once happened to mine, the turbo shorted out and the battery terminals got heated to the point they lost their springyness. simplypull out the springs again with a plier….

also, they have F1 miniz parts, incase ne1 is interested (only me LOL). rear roll shock and pitch springs are about 10 bux too. the alloy wheels are around 35 bucks, but are only in purple or dark blue.

No word yet on what they plan to do with their RCRM display chassis.

I just bought an M’z brand stock motor ($21 at the mo). Faster than the xspeed! but I have a feeling it may burn out the stock fets. Which reminds me, has anyone here tried the other x-speed replacements (i:E no fet upgrade needed)? as far as i know, there are only 2: M’z stock motor, and PN Speedy Practice motor.

dgs, i need that medium strength h-plate back dood….I’ve just broke my last h-bar and I sold the last spare to foxton. I’m currently running stock plate but dayem it’s wiggly ;).
