I can imagine all the sand on the netball courts and our z’s grinding it all between the pinion and spur gear oh yeah.
:smiley16:
I’m waiting on a clk body and a ferrari 355 body to come this week – cheap iwaver thrash bodies but no one will tell the difference right ?
Won’t be making it this Sunday – got a few things to do, maybe the next one though. Should have a new suspension/tyre setup by then.
As for track, how about just get a 12 pack of softdrink cans and place them strategically on the netball court.
🙂
My z’s handling was pretty good at first because the tyres were brand new, but after a while as they wore in I seemed to be getting the same problems. An ever so slight turn of the wheel, would cause the car to spin out and in circles.
Did you adjust your diff to allow for some slight slippage ?
I found that what worked for me at home on tiled floors didn’t fair to well when driving full throttle on smooth surfaced netball courts.
😀
No worries Tim about the collision – we had a few of them before you came. I’ve got two new bodies coming from HK right now.
– hope you can glue that headlight lens back on.
You should have come earlier when dgs and his mates were around, the guys subaru wrx had a range of over 50 metres… my range was a mere 25 metres.
Next time, I going to bring my digital camera so we can take a movie of the drags.
Couldn’t believe how good Geo-z’s F1 handled powered by a standard x-speed you could here the high pitch whine at full throttle.
He’s a walking mini-z garage.
🙂

I just got to say that I had a great time today racing with all of you. All in all thumbs up for a good few hours of fun.
Still can’t believe dgs’s standard X-speed does 39 km/h on the speed checker whereas Talldude and mine could only max out at 20km/h.
I got to attend to my traction problems – might have to run a hard rear end.
They’re pretty good with shipping. Regular registered air mail usually takes about 7 days.
Check out the following URL about motor break in.

I’ve done it with my x-speed – but can’t for the life of me tell the difference because I don’t have anything to compare it to. Some people swear by it with good results.
Will have to do a comparison on Sunday with you Talldude to see if it’s any better.
The wheel hub spacers are hard to get out. I used some pointy tipped tweezers to pry them out from the sides.
The 4 bearings with the 2mm hole go on the front two wheels.
The 3 bearings with the 3mm hole go on the wheel closest to the gear and on either sides of the motor mount.
Oh and keep the wheel hub spacers so that you can place them underneath your front knuckles for some serious lowering to reduce your flipping problems.
Did you run the motor in water to break it in ?

I’ll also be turning up at 12.30pm – if it doesn’t rain.
dgs,
Will my frequency clash with yours because they seem pretty close ?Also need address of the netball courts please.
Looking forward to this, beats driving around in the kitchen or lounge room.

I think normal wheels are the “narrow” 8.5mm type.
As for light kit, I’ve ordered the mini-z clone light kit from toyeast. They cost $5.50 US.
🙂
Sounds like a good idea.
I’m going to give it ago and file open those holes.
Thanks.:)
I’m running on AM Band 4 27.145 Mhz.
As for the track, anyone got a couple of long pieces of rope ?

Thanks for the info Jamie.
When I get bored of the power of my z – I’ll be contacting you. My soldering skills are crap – I tried a dual cell on a bcg and ended up melting the chassis.
Cheers.:)

To start off with, I’ve gotten the ball bearing set, rear carbon-fibre h-plates and a ball diff.
I shopped with rcmart.com on this occasion which has prompt delivery and you can view your final shopping cart in $aud

What time on the 18th ?
I’ll try to be there (now that my z ain’t stock anymore) – but can only stay for 3 sets of batteries.
Hopefully, my crystal set don’t clash with anyone else.

Just checked out the display vehicle at hobby co in the city and the front stabilizer bar is also showing the same faults as what mine is experiencing.
When you tighten the screws at the front of the alloy front bulk head it forces the stabilizer bar higher and it doesn’t easily spring back to its normal position.
Might have to revert back to the original kyosho or keep running with a slammed porsche.
What’s the surface like at those meadowbank netball courts ?
I gave my mini-z a run on the netball courts at haberfield and it was very unsettled and out of place – bouncing around like a 4WD at high speed.
Cheers,

Kevsta.Yeah, I think it is traction problems on a tiled floor. I noticed that if the floor is cleaned, or running on floor boards – its okay.
BTW. Are the meadowbank netball courts smooth painted surface ?
Thanks.
Kevsta.

Thanks for the help. All sorted now. Had a 2mm allen key in the tool box.
Getting the accelerate full throttle pull to the left problem now…

Thanks for the info.
I didn’t notice that the inside of the ‘set screw’ had the shape for an allen key – I’ve been inserting in some pointy tipped tweezers and turning clockwise. Must check again.

Old and proud of it. My manual dexterity is still good though – been practising since space invaders came out in the mid 70’s.
HK RC shops are apparently clustered together, I haven’t been their myself, but if you can’t get parts from one store, just stroll next door and they most likely have it.
