So no one knows if charging a 200mah battery 7 times would hurt it? Thats what I’m going to do first charge on my 200mah battery if it doesn’t hurt it…

Hahaha im so gunna do that, drive a bcg into a shop, and blow it up, i guess if you filled a packet up with gunpowder and put it under the shell, with a fuse operated by reverse.

Be sure to get the right gunpowder…some of it is slow burning and will just make a poof of light and smoke but no explosion…Gunpowder that ignites fire crackers or something a little bigger is always good..but try at your own risk..it is dangerous.

I didn’t order the springs..I actually took them out of a ink pen and they worked fine but my car never would steer..so maybe that had to do with it..when I took the springs off to see if that was stopping it, somehow the red wire came unsoldered from the PCB in the process…I’m not sure where the wire came off from and I’ve never soldered anything so I’m no good to do it but I would try if I knew where it went. I looked at the other wires soldered to the PCB and they are very poorly soldered on.
Also when the steering spring came off it was bent where it crossed itself..not in a U shape..I tried straightening it back out but it still curves back in a little bit..Doesn’t cross over though.

I put that back in right as far as I can tell and it still doesn’t work..anyone know anything else that could be wrong? It couldn’t be the metal springs attracting the magnet and screwing the steering up could it? I have no idea..anyone have some pictures of the correct assembly and how to put them back together?
I found some pictures on this site and it looks like I didn’t get the steering spring in right because mine was really really bent..my car has always drove crooked I wonder if thats why…

I bought one of these Big Lots clones yesterday, and my brother did too for $5. They are very fast and control much better than my Shen Qi Wei. The stickers and everything are horrible. Mine was the blue SUV and it had stickers with like splashed paint effect in yellow on them..but the stickers were the same ones that came on my brothers red suv so the background was red..So I had a blue SUV with stickers that had a yellow splash effect and red background..the stickers came off within the first few minutes and the stickers pull easily..unlike the Shen Qi Wei’s stickers. I’m probably gonna go back and buy some more so I’ll have extra parts in case I decide to do a dual cell mod and if I ever gather the experience to do the Fet mod I can…I think it’s the FET mod..They seem to be great for the price but mine goes much much faster than my brothers straight out of the box..I don’t know why. Also I had some problems with when I took the motor out the metal peiece that make contact with the motor weren’t bent right to hold the motor..so when I took the motor out and put it back in it wouldn’t work so I had to take a knife and bend those back up around the motor and it worked fine. As far as changing bodies, I’m not sure you can..it looks like the little pieces of plastic that hold the body down are too long..you could probably shave them off a little and it would work but I’m not sure.
Now I just need to find some paint to repaint this thing.

Are you saying my 4.2 motor is gonna suck in a regular car? I’ll probably end up buying some tires and gears..does anyone know if there is a place I can order/buy (like ToysRus) a tire and gear set in America…Airshipping is killing me! This http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000859RH/qid=1062165758/sr=1-22/ref=sr_1_22/102-6718553-3899310?v=glance&s=toys
set comes with the fastest gears and hard tires and all suspension think that would work pretty good? I’m guessing the LXX Char-gs come with medium tires right? I really don’t want to have to order anything off the internet and pay air shipping from China. Also do the Zip Zaps gear sets work fine on the Bit char-gs?

Can someone tell me what kind of primer I need to use? Is primer neccessary? I don’t have a airbrush or anything so it’s not gonna be a pro job or anything, I just have 2 clear bodies and I dislike clear bodies…I guess I would be painting with a brush too and doing little detail with paint pens. So would primer be neccessary for something like that?

This is probably gonna sound like a REALLY stupid question..but I have a clear body I’m doing nothing with (I hate plain clear bodies)and I was thinking of painting it..which side should I paint (lol). I had a friend with large r/c cars and he always painted the underside so the paint wouldn’t scratch off..but which side do you paint..

oxhadokenxo, if you are ok with electronics and soldering, an LM317 charger is your best bet, but it has no timer, so you will have to remember to take it off after 8-10 minutes. But a simple timer circuit could be made quite easily.
Charging a normal cell 4 times still won’t fully charge it, and it wastes your AA batteries quicksmart.

The stock tomy battery is made by SANYO, it is very robust, more so than most NiMH cells.
The TOMY cell will handle up to about 600mAh charge current (at this current level it should take about 5-8 minutes to charge), and will last 1/2 an hour with a 2.2 motor.

I’m not good with electronics and soldering (never soldered anything..building this computer is the closest I’ve came to being good with electronics). Are you basically saying it’s pretty much a waste to buy the 200mah battery because the stock battery can hold a lot it just never charges? So buying a 200mah battery and charging it 4 times would give me the same run time as using a stock battery and charging it 4 times? And by the faster you charge the battery the faster it’s life will run out you mean that if you hook it up to like a quick charge to charge it in 10 seconds it won’t last near as long as if you charge it the same amount just charge it for 1 minute to get it there.

is that a seperate charging station for those tanks?

you reckon it would be good for a bit char g? like contvert the platform so it can hold bits????

I’m getting one of the tanks with a separate charging station and I think the charging station takes 4 AA batteries I wonder if I could use that to charge a 200MAH batery that I’m getting with my LXX Char-g to fill the battery up faster.

can u just double charge the normal battery??

I emailed a guy who was selling them and he said you could charge it 4 times to get it full since it is 200mah and the stock batteries are 50mah. After the first charge I guess you could just charge it as many times as you wanted (less that 5 of course)it just wouldn’t be full if you didn’t do it 4. But for the first charge you have to make sure it’s full or you will never be able to get it full. He said there was directions on the internet how to change the timer on the charger to charge for longer so you won’t have to put the car on and off 4 times to get it full (anyone know a link that has directions?). Jamie where can I see directions on how to make/buy a LM317/LM350 charger?

On second though this is getting a little too technical for me lol.
Has anyone tried using a stock battery with a regular 45 second charge with a 4.2 motor and saw how much time they got out of theirs? I either am going to just buy the battery and charge it 3 or 4 times or just use my regular battery and charge 3-4 times as often lol. OR are you guys saying I can get more out of my stock battery (that comes in a LXX Char-G)if I charge it 3 cycles instead of 1 cycle, which makes the 200mah battery useless.

A larger storage battery would increase the runtime with a motor like that, which tends to drain he battery more than slower motors.

The lkarger storage battery will require extra charging, and I don’t think any charger in a controller detects if the battery is full, they just do timed charges suitable for the standard battery.

Reminder: The standard charger only puts about 5mah into the battery, so if you use a nicad or a nimh they are both ok.

If you use a different charger, you can get 30 mins runtime from a stock tomy battery, and 1hour+ from a nimh cell.

So what are you saying lol.
    1. I’m going to have to charge the larger battery 2-3 times to get it full.
    2. I can some how get longer battery life out of even the smaller batteries by getting a new charger (how?)
3.”The standard charger only puts about 5mah into the battery.” Wha? So you’re saying I have a 200mah battery and it’s only being charged 5mah per charge? Saying I could charge it 40 cycles to get it full? I don’t understand something but I’m not quite sure what it is.

If you can’t tell I’m really new to this…

Also how many times should I charge one of these new 200mah batteries? Because from what I hear if you don’t fully charge them the first time you charge them you’ll never get a full charge out of them.

Think it’d be worth $3 to get a 200 mah battery? I’m gonna be ordering 2 LXX Char-g’s from Toyeast and I can get the 200 mah battery for $3 think it’d be a good idea to go ahead and order the bigger battery? Also does anyone know if the LXX’s charger has a timer on it? Or does it charge until the battery is full..because if it was on a timer that means with a bigger battery I would have to charge it 2 or more times to get a full charge right?
