Ummm, yeah…that news is only about 6 months old. They were supposed to come out in June, but they’ve been delayed repeatedly and I think the latest word is September. You’ll also be limited to 27 and 49 MHz.
i just cut mine out did i do the right thing
Limca, it’s pretty easy to determine where the wires go. They are all labeled on the circuit board. F=forward B=backward L=left R=right. These are all – outputs. The one labeled + is the common positive lead. I tried this with blue leds and it stuttered a little bit. I havent tried it with the dual cell mod and blue leds yet.
Rosin Core Solder Fumes … mmm mmm good.
I’ve soldered on all types of batteries even little lithium button cells. The key is high wattage hot iron, lots of flux and do it FAST. If it doesn’t take right away, let it cool and try again. Otherwise, well … you know, KABOOOOM.
b-drift, you should NEVER become a salesman!
Yep, good call Derek. The only thing a cap in that position can do is decrease output power. I suspect it was primarily for frequency seperation. My cars will work with other frequency remotes if the remote wire is right up next to the car. And when racing, the cars tend to studder when they get close to the other person. Instead of making high quality transmitters and receivers with accurate frequencies they just lowered the output wattage with the cap. That’s my theory.

By the way, does anyone wanna update the list of cars that have/don’t have the cripple cap?
OOO! OOO! OOO! Can I please? I update the database every couple of days. If you need it more frequently, you can always look at the last user on the list and figure out who posted what after the latest update. Maybe someday Aaron could make an automated database, but I think he’s got other, more important stuff to do. And this works out ok. I’d actually like this thread to die so I could start a new one with the database and a mini-FAQ as the first post.
ugosplat – do you have any pics of what you did?
ok.. now this is news…
does this mean that we are finally getting the hop-up parts for our bits?
sweeeeeet…….
what’s the difference between the mhz?
It’s so you can havemultiple cars running at the same time. Two cars operating on 27 MHz wouldn’t work because you’d be controlling each others car.
Also is it possible to get your rear wheels spinning hard enough to like do a burnout?
Not unless you do some of the high-power mods. Read the forum for more.
Just for the record – ausmicro.com can do gear sets shipped out ot the USA for USD12.00. Pretty competitive with US based retailers, considering we ship it around the globe!
my parents own a villa in kissime florida and we holiday there often im comin over in october or november my local hobby shop is model craftworld in the osceola square mall they only race mini 4wd tamiya cars and large scale rc cars though
I’m glad somone could take the time to check into my research! this is great news!
hahahaha!!!!

ausmicro.com do not sell the Australian Compact Char-G, however, if you email aaron@ausmicro.com , he’ll tell you what Jap-import cars (genuine Bit Char-G) that are in stock or arriving soon.
They are about AUD10-15 dearer than the local cars, but there’s a bigger range of models, colours and frequencies.
Cheers
Derek
yeah, they sold out pretty fast didnt they 🙂
The only place that I can race right now until I move is the tennis courts behind my apt. but they are totally perfect cuz I can set up a longer distance course. It gives me a chance to use the faster motors, and it’s nice here at night. I’ve also noticed that if I hold the antenna from the controller about an inch off the ground that’s where I get the best range. Even inside. (weird)anybody else notice that? Oh yeh I’m 28 and I’ll never grow up. If you guys use ICQ let me know orMSN messenger.

I’m 46. I’ve got some OEM Bullets that came with 2.6 motors and one that hasa higher capacity battery good for about 7 mins. per charge. I’ve done some extensive gear reworking to get less load on the motor and resulting in higher performance. I’m in the process of reworking a RX7 body and will post a pic when finished, it’s a drop top. I plan on doing up some bar stock wheels and try using the HO slot car wheels made from silicon to get alttle more grip for different tracks.
i just added a new solid copper core antenna to my car and now i get 23ft of range before studdering!!. This was measured witha tape measure. I also tried putting in a 2.2ohm resistor in ‘L3’ in place of my 4.0ohm resistor but this made the range go down to aprox3 feet
Matt
Thanx Teek!~ See you all there on the weekend! I’ll stop by and check it out.
About time someone got serious about this whole mini-RC thing.
Owen.
that car really does look cool 🙂
