Oh well b_drift, thanks for warning us and good luck finding a buyer.
Nick
Yep! You’ve hit the nail on the head ylexot, I wandered around a few shops last night and yes, forget the stickers, the frequencies correspond to the various models. Duh!
So if anyone’s in Singapore, or strikes the stickers anywhere else, ignore them. Use the frequency/car list.
I still don’t understand why they did it. Last night I bought the dark red RX7 (it’s my favourite body so far – nice colour too). It had a red sticker on it, the same as the one on my red Mitsi – but the RX is 57mhz and the Mitsi is 35! The white evo has a white sticker, but so does the silver honda and the white Skyline!
How confusing is that?
So, ignore the stickers, use the chart.
Nick.
A lot of work but it will be worth it!
oops add this Silverplated Suspension
Hey I’m gonna put together a nice car tell me what you think:
-
Silver Toyota Celica
-
Dual Drive Chassis
-
3.0Motor
-
Soft Front Tires,Medium Back Tires
-
NIMH BatteryMod ( 20+ min. runtimes)
-
Sport2 alloy Rims (Bitcharg.uk.co)
-
BLue Headlight LED mod
-
So whatdo you think?

I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the cripple capacitor 2.0 theory is correct. i replaced the giant green cap at ‘C3’ with a regular 104 capacitor. i went from 6ft to 20ft!!! i measured the range with a tape measure. i believe i can further improve the range. iam going out now to test some other ideas.
Matt
Just waiting for a reply so I can give out my credit card and get the beasty over here to SA (AUs)
I’ll do a full review for sure Derek, I’ve got my Kodak DX4900 ready to go and heaps of web space to burn!
i got one of those a month ago and it sucks. slower than a bit 1.0. yes, the body is hiding all the electronics. it is heavy. steering is decent, runtime is bad and if anyone wants to buy mine let me know. (US only) the controller is nice though and it runs on FM!!!!! b
tried what? O, and a little tip, its not really a good idea to solder anything onto a battery, well, u know why. Try electrical tape
That would be awesome if we could get a group together
I don’t have any smaller motors right now but i’m gonna order some.
I guess I could tear one out of a old cell phone though till they get here + I have a old 3.0 that runs like a 1.0 (junk) got some pix of my cars. but can only send through ICQ right now 🙁
How old are you guys?
You tried Tower Hobbies….no stock currently but you can back order..

Carazy
I’m a total “tin car n00b”. Hehehhehe :smiley1:
If you have a look in the TECHNICAL section ofthe Tin Car forums, there’s a post about the 3-Relay mod I’m working on at the moment. If it’s a winner, I’m going to buy a second car and a second car and make a racing pair.
Shoot me some photos (and maybe a review?) when you get your car, so we can share with the rest of the folks here. Lots of people are yet to discover the magic of these BARGAIN-PRICED gadgets!
Cheers
Derek
its no real major deal its just I dont know why its happening. the battery is getting charged but it just doesnt respong whilst chargin….weird!
I’ll have to come visit you guys when I come over to see my DAD who, lives in Tampa.

The capacitor was installed in certain models for two reasons:
- RF-emission compliance in some countries (CE, FCC etc rulings)
- Reduce incidence of frequency cross-talk between cars of different frequencies.

Yes, batteries + too much heat = BOOM!
Chewy’s right about keeping the tip clean.
Use a high wattage iron like 65 or 100. Use rosin core solder or buy some flux (pase or liquid is fine). Let the iron heat up to full temp. Melt some solder on the tip. If you have flux, put a little on the battery where you’re going to solder. If you don’t have flux, don’t worry about it. Now, touch the iron to the batteryand push some solder between the iron and the battery while moving the iron around in a small circular pattern. Keep melting solder on until you have a big bead of solder then stop melting solder but keep the iron on the battery. Keep moving the iron around in a circle for a few seconds. You’ll know when the solder sticks properly because the bead of solder will no longer follow the iron around, it will stick to the battery instead. If it doesn’t stick after about 10 seconds you should probably stop and let it cool down before trying again. If you pull the iron away and the solder is stuck to the battery but looks like a round bead then it didn’t stick, it’s just the crystalized flux holding it on, you should be able to break it off by hand. Try again!

Yup more power, I setup a charger like this to charge my 2 battery cars:

but later on I modified it to charge two 2 battery cars at the same time:

Have you tried extending the aerial of the controller whilst it’s charging the car? I found sometimes the car doesn’t respond when chargingunless the aerial is extended a little.
HL J is an online store. As in http://www.hlj.com:smiley2: They are typically the first place I see anything show up…like the busses that are coming in October. They also allow preorders so you can be the first in your state/country to get the new stuff.
