The best way I know to do it would be with a “Magic Wash” which is made from Future Floor Wax (thinned 1:3 with water) and some black ink.

The Magic Wash dries shiney, even, and rock hard (though it takes some time).

You can achieve a similar result with thinned acrylic (like Tamiya) paints and a drying retarder (sometimes called paint extender).

Grease of any kind is bad, but you can rub graphite powder into areas that experience friction. It will make a smoother contact surface.

Note: make sure any excess powder is blown out before running your bit!

I got this stuff made for blacking out car tail lights. It’s a spray can called auto shades. It worked pretty well. I’ve also used smoke x-19 on regular sizedr/c carslike derek. It also worked well. Just spray it on the inside of the shell and you’re done.

I would not recomend using tint film as it attracts static electricity and you could shock your car’s electronics. Also, it probably won’t stick toplastic very well and won’t look very good from the outside. Just a guess???

I haven’t tried the magic marker trick, I think I might try that next time.

Actual data is something that is going to be difficult for any of us to put down really – as there are many factors to incorpaorate when “timing” a scale 1/4 mile time etc etc……Best thing I can do at the moment is use my Bit Char G digital lap counter – and time my runs – however – again there is reaction time and many other variables.

Run times are in the 5 to six minute rage – so it is not too bad……however you theories are correct – as anyone with a little electrical experience knows…..thankyou! 🙂

Theoretically:

When you apply double the voltage across the same resistance, it takes twice the amount of current I=V/R. This means that when you double the voltage to the bit motor or steering coils (these are both resistance constants)it takes twice the current which means if the original battery was 50mah you would need a 100mah battery of double voltage to run the same amount of time. I would expect shorter then stock run times with a 80mah 2.4V battery then a 50mah 1.2V battery.

Again, this is theoretical. I’m interested in actual data

The mod is definately not for the faint of heart – the car is pretty much unctrollable really…….

So far, (10 or so full charges), there have been no problems with the circuit board – seems quite happy – however I could give no guarantee’s on that – or howlong the motor will last as it is TRIPPLE the standard voltage. I am not particularly worried though – as I am not a big fan of the OEM’s – so it is no great loss to me really.

I will try and give an update occasionally on how it is performing or destroying itself.

I think the 2.4 volt mod by removing one of the cells is going to be the best though for general use in a relatively large area…..

K-mart Compact Char-gs have no cripple capacitors.

I tested out managed to test out the full range of my yellow Honda S2000 a couple of days ago, it was incredible! Must have been AT LEAST 15 metres (it went down the full length of our school’s english hallway, past 4 full sized classroms lengthwise).

body kit as in an airdam, spoilersand such? i guess putty is the only real way right now because there just isnt addons. i was thinking of chopping up my bits body just so i can make additions to it, but school is in the way 🙁

I looked at the 3.6v cells while I was at Jaycar but thought the combination of high voltage and low capacity would cause havoc on the electronics and runtime (respectively)…. perhaps I was wrong !

That 3.6v cell is quite a good fit, my 2.4V is not quite as comfortable, but it certainly has the capacity ! I think we need a way to bench mark the results… perhaps a mini equivalent of the 1/4 mile run ?

Something that should also work is thined down acrylic paint, either air brushed in a couple of coats or brushed on in a couple of coats onto the inside of the windows.

i like paint brush and use acrylic wash paint that you get from minitures stores like ‘games workshop’

but their pretty expensive, you should be able to get the same stuff from most hobby shops.

ToyEast have them for The equivalent of $200 Auz including postage! You won’t get a better deal than that. I tried the local distributer here in Singapore and the best they could do was $250. Just gimme a few more days to get the money in my account… Roll on payday.
