HEY, SAW THAT TOO AND DECIDED TO BY ONE FOR SPARE PARTS FOR MY MODIFIED RX-7 (PICTURES TO BE POSTED). THE MOTOR IS A 2.6B THE NI CAD BATTERY IS THE SAME, AND THE GEARS CAN ALSO BE SALVAGED.

GUESS WHY? IT IS PRODUCED BY TOMY, AND SOLD THRU HOTWHEELS USA. IT IS ALMOST THE SAME SETUP WITH HOPUP OPTIONS BUT WITHOUT R/C.

PLAN TO ALSO USE THE SPARE BATTERY TO SUPERCHARGE MY ZOOM ZOOM.

There was once a product known around the traps as “spray tint” and you could get it from K-Mart. People did there car tail lights with it to make them darker…. if you can still get it, I recommend you try it !

I was going to go to car tinting place and see if i could but some tinting sticker stuff and put it on and cut it out.

Ill see how that goes, but any other suggestions would be helpful

I am using the standard charger for the moment. I took apart the controller and looked at the charging circuit, it is really simple and the 2.4V cell can becharged with it, but more time is required (I did about 3 minutes).

The standard cell is only 50mAH and my 2.4V is 80mAH, assuming that the current drain is similar under 2.4V operation (this will depend on the car electronics), we should expect longer run times.

I dont think the standard charger is at all good for the battery and it wont do long term at all, to charge these things properly, you need a constant current source circuit. The design can be found on the web, I am going to build a stand alone charger around this.

When I am done, I will be sure to post the results !

Shonky, how are you charging that battery now? I tried something similar. I used NiMh button cells individually and soldered two of them toegther. They were only 60Ma and didn’t last 2 minutes. Then, I charged it on my desktop charger and never got more then a minute of run time and it got worse each time I charged. I think maybe my charger is too powerful?? Any Suggestions. I’ve got a bunch of NiMh button cells left I’d like to try something different.

uh oh. well i got my order in a week, but they seemed to have missed an order. i ordered 3 cars, but only 2 came. perhaps they are sending it in 2 packages because the box that i got it in could only fir 2 boxes, so mayb the 3rd one is being shipped seperately. also, i ordered a TT accord, but it came with a bitchar-a accord. on the box of the bitchar-a, it says it comes with a 1.0 motor, but the motor thats in the box is red, so im guessing they put in a 2.6 that came with it. im not too sure tho, because they also sent a 2.6 motor in addition, so i just stuck that one in it. mayb i should swap them. im just abit scared of taking off the axle.

also, it seems like my loctite skyline suffers from biglefturnitous. but the right turn is VERY small. spinout small.

also, my other cars controler suffers from supersensitivia, where even giggling the controler will set off the forward button. it doesnt even click. YIKES!

I like my SuperMaxx from Larami, it?s basically the same as a supersoaker, but instead of water, you shoot styrofoam-darts…

(It?s pretty useless, some friends of mine do also have one, so we can play or just to kill a fly !! )

Nice work, mate. I found the review and the aerial mod articles to be very well-written and quite informative, especially since i’m new to Bit Char-G and am about to order my first car. If you have time, it’d be great if you posted a short piece on how you went about removing your Skyline’s spoiler (since I have no idea how to do that cleanly and efficiently) and whether or not you were pleased with the result.
