I know Hobby Link Japan (hlj.com) sells gears and tires for $3.00 US dollars and shipping is about 3-4 dollars. I have never ordered from them, though but I got a blue skyline from them for $25.00 at an expo.

No pics yet derek….. I was really keen to get the battery in the car and run it. I even butchered the car a bit and I reckon I could do it better the second time around.

I will probably rebuild it on the weekend and hopefully snap off the details then ! I forgot to mention that the range improved as well with this mod !

Generally however, the GTR seems to be a slower car. I have a yellow Lancer also and did an experiment. Ran the 3.0 in the GTR(prior to 2.4V mod)and 2.2 in the Lancer, which was a close match. Swapped the motors and gears between cars and the Lancer (now with 3.0) made a significant gap !

The GTR has a silver controller while the Lancer’s is orange. I suspect the drive electronics were improved in the later model Lancer ? Have others had this experience ? I intend to mod the Lancer for 2.4V in any case and I expect an even quicker result ! I will also design a stand alone charger to properly charge the 2.4V cell for better runtime and maximum performance !

Oh, 1:24. Well I was close (not).

Anyway, I went and checked them out over the weekend. At $250 they ain’t cheap, but oh my God are they beautiful. They look better than most scale models, realistic tires, lovely shiney paintwork, 4 wheel suspension, excellent detail – these things are little gems, real show-pieces and a joy to behold. The only compromises they’ve made are transparent Ys in the front steering for strength and a rather undetailed cockpit. Like some cheaper scale models, they’ve filled the cockpit in and just stuck a driver hemet on top. This is presumably so they can fit the electronics in. I’d look at cutting out the cockpit and putting a scale head and shoulders Shumacher in instead.

Overall, these little F1s are more realistic that most of the larger RC F1s I’ve seen – even some of the non-rc scale models! They have better detail, they seem incredibly high quality, in short, I must have one. Damn, if I had the money, I’d have a set!

And when you think about it, $250 ain’t so bad. Most radio gear costs $200 alone. And yes, I’m trying to justify it to myself!

The same shop has the Lancia Stratos Mini-Zs, they also sell the tops separately. And they’re almost as beautiful as the F1s – lovely scale replicas with holes for a full-set of working rally headlights, big wide tires on Lancia scale rims – ooooh yeah.

I really should work for Kyosho sales :smiley1:

    Nick.

Due to circumstances WAY beyond my control, MSN groups/communities went totally down for awhile–all of ’em. And then they gradually came back up. I apologize–even though I couldn’t do anything about it but sit there and hit “Refresh”. One of these days, the whole site may move to its own domain, but for now I’m at the mercy of MSN. Scary, isn’t it?

hey barrelll this sounds quite challenging and i wish you luck with it. I also want to tint the windows on my custom painted honda accord, and i think that the way to do it is to smudge on some dry-erase marker, but i am not sure if this will look dodgy or not.

Ill be sure to keep my eye on this discussion to see what everyone else thinks

my s2000 wouldnt go forward and wouldnt go reverse reliably. I found that the shell was rubbing on the rear wheel so with some minor mods it works great now 🙂

    Hey taijohnsen

The guys at bit_charg_oz@hotmail.com are selling all bit char-g parts to Australia at good prices. Just email them for a catalogue. Think you can get a tyre set (with soft, medium and hard tyres) for about $15AUS and they also have motors, drop them a line

i have also found these springs in the Tomy AFX slotcar tuneup kit guys, just in case you feel you need these urgently and you have access to a shop selling these AFX goods. These are in Australian shops at about $AUS 4.00- $AUS 6.00, although you also get alot of other bits and pieces which may come useful in some way…

    Cheers.
