Geo… oh man… thats some bad news mate… it must have gotten some extreme air for that damage to occur. Kevsta; those pics came out awesome! Wonder how the vid will come out? Petewah… 15 smilies in one post. Come on… Strewth
alot easier to install… although I should’nt be answering this , I have absolutely no electronics knowledge… but good to see you’ll be there again! Tim; did’nt get to really have a chat with you last Sunday, you’ve got an MR-02 right? Mind if I have a gander on Sunday? Anyway, off for the week (i’m only online Monday to Friday at work; no pc at home), will see those of you who’ll be there on Sunday!
Suasage; I got 39kph out of an unfetted car with a Xspeed last Sunday, not sure how though.
Jamie’s the one who did the fets in my GTR MR-01 Kevsta… you dont need 12 to give the Xspeed some extra punch, but it will open the door for more powerful donks if you so desire down the track. And yes, acceleration is up, in a big way. Top end increase in speed too, it seems, but not major amounts.
Tim; i’m bringng some double sided tape, will do on the day. A thought too; you wont be broke if you sell the turbo, then you can get the fets sooner. Not pushing you, you understand…:smiley2:
Kev; you’e welcome. $5 US for that? Thats awesome…hey Tim… if you want to off-load that twin turbo on someone, speak to Josh on the weekend… i’m sure he’ll take it off your hands… i’ll have hose with me, will grab a case of beer on the way on Sunday so cans wont be a problem:smiley2: hehehe just kidding
I found my GTR sat real loose on my chassis when I got the shell, some foam tape fixed that problem for me, i’ll bring some with me on the weekend. The off-set you describe is 2.5mm, and is present on all wide body shells, so those wheels will fit on Supra, NSX, etc. The rear wheels all tend to be wides in this case… The 355 shell i’m guessing has a unique offset (like my mate Josh’s WRX; his front and rear wheels have an offset of 1.5mm). When you’re next down for a race i’ll go through this with you if you want
looks pretty good, oh, you have to cut a bit out to accommodate the friction shock… thought of doing that in the past… which CLK did you get? The D2? Geo-Z; I just load the car up with 4 cells, prop up the rear wheels and throttle on for the life of the cells…blackeye:
sweet… see you there dood!! I’ll bring the double sided tape (3M – no stronger!!!)
Shame I had so much on, i’m usually there till the sun goes down (!!), will definately be there longer this weekend. btw, welcome Geo-Z!!!fine, i’ll do a fet mod on my thumb when I get off work…
so full of it that it dribbles down my chin… the weekend will decide who can walk, and who can only talk. Dont mind the odd scuff marks on the cars either
yep, some people have to earn their driver skills, why I was lucky enough to be born eith ’em… hehehe
dead set mate… actually its an Orion big block held on with a rubber band…:p But seriously…
no, the CLK is untouched… the GTR though, well; dry bearings, 2x6xfets, Square titanium diff, carbon O-plate, 800mah nimh’s, lightened chassis. The Plasma only has the bearings and thats it (that I can remember off hand)mate i’ve got heaps of spare stock and afew alloy wheel nuts… Will bring em all with on the day. Seriously though, guys; my CLK has no funky mods that i’m keeping quiet about, and the motor is a real Xspeed, not a Plasma. No fets, no extra cells, no motor mods. Driver skill boys…:smiley2::clown:
I hate loosing the buggers… Right, this track idea; i’ll have to give you guys the run-down on Sunday (REMIND ME), easier described verbally I think. PeteWah sort of has the right idea. As for what it looks like Tim, if all goes to plan, any layout we like. that’s the aim. Different layouts of varying difficulty… Anyway, who’s in this weekend? So far i’m guessing; me, Pete, Josh (thats a maybe), Justin (flatmate), Talldude, Tim.
yeah, i’ll give that a miss too…
nice avatar Jamie… Pete; did’nt sound that similar… anyways, RIP pcd79
we’ll sort something out if you’re interested
awesome stuff ph2t… what sort of speed you pulling with that animal now?
like to see what master Jamie thinks too…
got the red X of doom, bud… pic did’nt work…
not much, anyway… we’d have to walk for half an hour of so to get it… hose I think is the best bet for the moment. This idea of mine will take a little while, what with sourcing the rubber and all that, but easy from then on. Pete; I dont even have to cut it out at work, could do it at home. Talldude; I prefer to use both on the wide body (soft springs all round suites where we were on Sunday, I found), but the GTR has no roll or friction shocks, just an O-plate. Found I dont need the other suspension parts when using this. Tim; would’nt you like to know?:smiley2: It runs around 45 odd clicks with a seven tooth pinion. The set-up is a secret though… As for the GTR anyway, after minor surgery last night discovered that it still goes, the Plasma DOES need rewiring. Rebuild time too, I guess. Got an Xspeed with the 8 tooth on it, so still a force to be reckoned with. What can I say??:clown:
sand eh? Pete, you’ve lived down that way almost as long as me… there aint any sand in that river…:smiley2:
Tim; try foams (need a set?:smiley2:), or if you can get your hands on a set of 10 degree tires, they grip like no-body’s business but being so soft they’ll only last a couple of runs (less with the ‘Dash!!!) See my reply in the Sydney race day forum too, I have listed a couple of things that may help…:D
my GTR has the PERFECT set-up; does’nt spin out, handles awesome, and FLIES. To answer your question Tim; not sure as yet, but I think one of the wires (motor to pcb) may have snapped. Not happy, ‘cos it was going hard one minute, then just rolled to a stop… no ‘fried insides’ smell so thats a plus. Maybe my Plasma’s in need of a re-build. This car will be back destroying the competition in a couple of weeks. How many fets you got in your car Tim? Got a 2×6 stack myself… Also, I found using the Plasma dash with a narrow Z (GTR, WRX, IS200,etc.) handle much better with a high speed set-up. Not sure why, but after a brief stint with my fet’ed (?) chassis with wide wheels and shell I found that was the main factor to my spinning out. Back to the GTR shell, no hassles. This maybe something you might want to look into, Tim. Should sort your traction issues
