Soon barto, soon…..
Here’s a pic of just a normal pair of headlights I’m doing on my lxx booster. Again I’m using my own 3V step up supply seperate from the PCB’s one. Runtime isn’t seriously affected. As you can see the LED pcb sits nice ‘n compact on top of the RX pcb.

Thanks guys. Cranga, the yellow is some brush applied acrylic paint that fell in the gaps. I then wiped the excess off to get what you see. It’s an old technique I learnt from my french polishing days…..
Impreza, I checked all the spray cans and they are all enamels, including the gloss. I’ve been told by a few guys in the bitpimps forums though that some gloss enamels have issues with the silver and gold paints out there.
Learning as I go…..:smiley16:
Efarel, I was thinking about this steering mod using mosfets as well. I guess now you can put an extra steering spring in to help keep it straight?
Talldude, prolly not. The bad steering is to do with the actual phyical steering mechanism. Try pulling the front assembly apart and re-seating the coils and/or magnet. A lot of clones come with one coil NOT sitting flat which will cause bad steering no matter what the little trimmer on the underside is set to. Also as time goes by the magnet can become loose, try re-seating this with a touch of glue to keep it there.

Now I AM shocked!

Prez, I did a PrntScreen and copied it into paint. Then I cropped off the excess crap and saved it as a JPG.
Great work micro. Why would there be such a great difference from 3-4Km/h to 20km/h+ from the different motors?
I hear you dude, I borrow my borther’s cam every other week. He should start charging me rent, lol!
Yeah, lol! Did ya get the *hidden* meaning…..:p

Hey payaso, a question man. How did you do the racing stripes? Did you use the pin stripe tape from an auto shop? I’m interested in the masking process you used..
Thanks,

Well after a bit of scouring around I found some cheap (n nasty, yeah!) sprays at Bunnings for $2.45 each. I got Black (mat finish), blue, silver and red. I also picked up a clear gloss for $5.75.
I did a bit of practice coats on some plastic packaging so see how the paint went and so far no problems. I then got my masking tape out and tried some masking jobs of a red line over the black. The red paint needed a few coats but after I let it dry I thought it looked good.
I then took the masking tape off and ARGGHHH!!!! The bloody tape had eaten through the black undercoat. So much for $2 tape. I went back to Bunnings *sigh* and bought some 3M masking tape, the low adhesive, very straight line, 7 days application one. It cost $11 but it’s worth it.
The lesson for today is that you can buy some really nasty paint, but make sure you got good masking tape or it all goes to crap!

Cabo, how did you do the flames? Was this a layered masking job? Hand painted?
Cheers,

nah, that’s a shypo thang………..
No, haven’t tried anything yet…. When I get some time…

A small diecast toy in Safeway, I’ve also seen them in Myers. Cost $6. They come in an orange box and say “Track Stars” & “GT43 Racing” on the box.
*edit* They are plastic rims in a mat grey finish.
