Sombody vote for jamie, I want that spoon !!

Being a Caffine junkie, the effects of the drug on me are minimal. It no longer makes me feel good, just normal. Maybe I need bigger doses ?
    :approve:
I got to have me some of that caffine soap from
    ‘thinkgeek.com’.

I can’t wait for the release of ‘nicotine flavoured toothpaste’… your kids will never complain about or miss a session of brushing their teeth !!

Actually that wasn’t uncommon after WWII. A lot of guys would keep warm in front of the radar.
Generally RF, even a lot of it is quite harmless,
but it can be dangerous. Usually to your eyes which don’t have a way to get rid of excess heat.
It takes a LOT of power to heat up a human being.
A lot of sailors would then go out for a night on the town knowing the tadpoles wouldn’t be going out with them. It is said that a lot of them died from cancer later on in life. But the truth is has more to do with asbestos and natural occurance of cancers.

Lets see … they mentioned today…
Cataracts – Eye damage, Burns, Shock and Sterility as symptoms of RF exposure.

Non ionising radiation is non accumlative.
    (Ionising radiation is accumlative.)

Satellite systems actually use very low power.
The whole system is based on linear transponders connected to batteries and solar cells. So conservation of power is a priority.
Most roof top transmitters are 1 watt, the big
USOSAT types are no more than 5 watts.
On our big 32m dish the power is never more than 30 watts, though it is capable of 4kW. Saftey lockouts make sure that your chances of exposure are zero.

I was supprised that my today instructor didn’t understand how a microwave oven worked.

My work made me sit through an introductory to RF radiation today. It too 2 litres of coke just to make it to lunch time without falling asleep.
I figure somebody in head office is trying to punish me for making their life more interesting. 🙂

    heheeh ….
hey come on.. it’s the one rule of this country everybody has to live by….
There is a pecking order… last off the boat cops the shit from those who got here before them.
Why do you think the black fellas have it wrapped up ?? 🙂

I like how people “choose” to be offended these days. Nobody can ruin your day without your permission, unless you let them of course !

Bring on the skippy jokes… I’m dissapointed the new cheapy qantarse airline wasn’t named “skippy airways”.

Hahaha, don’t get me started about Melbourne.
If I wanted to visit Greece, I’d go to Athens, not bring it to me !
Now Melbourne has got some things going for it,
great place to visit, but I wouldn’t want to live there. Puffing Billy bores me after you’ve ridden it once.
Some people say that it’s too cold.. that’s not the problem, it’s when it’s hot and you try to swim… even in the peak of summer you can see iceburgs in that water !

Football… you mean “kick and giggle” ?
I tell ya this much… you don’t see rugby players singing after the game like a bunch of choir boys. If a rugby player started singing anything other than mumbling the first bar of the national anthem, he’d get bashed… by his own team mates !
Please.. insult me with something with more substance than football.

Rugby… (like kick & giggle) is a DOGS GAME !
‘kick the ball go chase it’! The only difference is that rugby players sniff each others bums like the dogs they are.

Union … why the hell do they even have a ball in that game ??? Look, that guys got the ball, lets jump on him and bash him even if he’s on our team !!!

I got to love the Victorian Labour Party though.
They are so good at bankrupting a state that even North Korean Communist Party is amused !!
I hear families from Ethiopia are now sponsoring children in Victoria ?

Brisbane… well, since Joh left office you just don’t have anything worth picking on. Apart from political prisoners but you seem to have a catch and release program happening there.

I think you’re confusing ‘culture’ with ‘lifestyle’. :clown: You’re born into a culture and choose a lifestyle.

We have all sorts of cultures (and lifestyles) here in Sydney, just none of them originate from Sydney !

Hang on just a tick… I’ve been to Surfers, and I’ve been to Tokyo …. and the difference is ???
    Oh yeah.. a beach ! 🙂

They’re all just one big happy family down their in tas !

Send me the B2 wreckage !
I’m extremely good with reviving dead planes, even ones which have gone to hell 🙂
In any case, I’m looking for some radio gear for
a new prototype plane I’m building.
If you’re looking for a plane to replace the B2, then just lok on ebay, let me know what you find and I’ll see if I can get it from hong kong on the cheap for you.

Your name is the top of the list dude. They’ll be on their way soon. A few planes I have have one motor faster than the other. I was going to look at the circuit for my mirage microplane, it’s difference is cronic. I’ve notice all the A40’s have a very slight difference. It’s easiest to fix with a little bit of fibre (of gaffer) tape.
Use a small strip and place it on the under side of the wing. (not the top). The extra weight on the wing will help it fly straight.

That’s aus dollars. I can also get you a nicd battery pack for them for about $20 +pp (about $25) but you can get them at DSE for $30 so I sort of think the extra $5 doesn’t really matter.

I’m ordering another 5 as we speak plus the parts.
They are ready to go, I just have to pay for them. pay day is weds, so they are likely to go in the post thurs. 2 of them are accounted for, the others are still open to first come first served. If you want one then, just say so and when it arrives, I’ll let you know. Most of my friends fly at jamison park at penrith. Usually weekends about 5pm after the cricket has finished.

Took the B29 for a fly yesterday.
Looks very good and sounds awesome. Four engines humming away. Handles a bit sluggish though.

I’m not sure why you’d want to do that unless you planned to do “aquabatics” ??
Turning a sub upside down isn’t as fun for the crew of a sub as it is a plane 🙂

The CO2 bulbs. I think you don’t realise that there are 2 sets of tanks. The CO2 source tank and the ballast tank. The ballast tank is basically decompressed gas held to make the sub boyant. When it doesn’t have gas in it, it has water. The CO2 source always has gas in it, and it has lots of highly compressed gas, so it isn’t going to run out until you’ve done like 100 dives.

I wonder if they are like ruddevators, or flapervons ? 🙂

That one looks cool … you mean “elevators”.

The ‘Elevators’ make the plane ‘Pitch’ nose up and down.

The ‘Rudder’ makes a plane ‘Yaw’ left and right

The ‘Ailerons’ on the wings control the ‘Roll’

They are the basics of planes…
    the added control surfaces are..

‘Flaps’ on the trailing edge of the inner wing
provide a lower stall speed at the expense of more drag.

‘Slats’ on the leading edge also add to this.

‘Air Brakes’ are a wall on the top surface of the wing that disturb laminar airflow. They provide drag and reduce lift.

The tiny little surfaces are called trims. They
help fine tune the main controls.

That sub is small, looks cool too, but the SE2 is smaller 🙂

If you had a radio control sub that had a gas ballast. (CO2 bulb). You open the ballast valve and it lets water flood the ballast tanks.
“Dive dive dive” … that is what’s happening.
    The air is let escape.

Now that your at depth, you open the purge valve (opposite control) and it fills the ballast tanks with air, and up you come.

Save them, because I can measure them if somebody cares to post me one.
I suspect they are about 10pf. I’d sugesst measuring them yourself with a 100M resistor, but even then the cap is still too small. Unless you have a CRO.

Thanks ph2t, I hadn’t seen that thread either.

I just had a think about the capacitor and why it’s there. To put attenuation on a rxer isn’t a real clever idea unless you have problems with signal overloading. Even then it makes a lot more sense to attenuate the signal on the transmitter.

The capacitor on antennas is used for two reasons.
One is as a high pass filter to keep low frequencies out like power line noise. The other and more important reason is stray capacitance.

The antenna wire forms a capacitor with anything close to it. It’s not much, but it is more than enough to detune the tank circuit in the radio.
A capacitor in series makes sure than any stray capacitance is kept to a minimum.

So it is more likely that they had problems with de-tuning and added the mod as an improvement (sic). Does anybody know what the value of the capacitor is ?

Ah sorry, that doesn’t qualify. That’s a manual setting, you can’t change it unless you take the sub out of the water. You want that as a control channel.

Using a CO2 compressed gas bulb would be perfect for a sub ballast gas.

Got a another new plane today. Mirage.
This plane is tiny.. 30cm wingspan and it weighs about 70 grams. I flew it today, it’s fast and very touchy even in really light wind.
I hope to have some pics on my webshots later on.
