please check out go fly kite . com!

these guys! such an impressive rc scene in singapore. seeing the ufo like kites flying in formation over a park in the city was truly magical. they make the detailed replica flying models look pretty pathetic.

Game traders sells mario kart themed interactive q-steers. cant express how fun they are with a few tweaks. dont get ipped off on ebay when you can get a pair of these for a bargain here if you do the legwork.

a company based in melbourne called goldy has the distrobution lisence here.

can pics be uploaded to here still? i doubt it.

i will link in some pics later on.

i used the guts of a hotwheels iNitro speeder in the tank chassis.

the tank used to be a toy that followed a path of black texta i bought in newcastle at frontline hobbies (i think thats what they are called). but after damaging the gearbox it couldnt follow the line properly.

luckily the tank’s gearbox used 2 motors exactly like the initro speeder.

a new pic surfaced showing the five karts. no princess, but koopa!

tomy website got an update also. looks like mario ( band 1) is packages with yoshi (band 2) as a 2 player pack. being a part of the hybrid collection there will be pullback versions available to change lids.

no news atm on anything beyond this being a strictly 2 player product. fine by me if the bugs are ironed out!

the chassis has 2 new led looking things mounted on the top, one facing back and the other facing forward. this is how the combat will work i guess.

very clever, the bananas are a rear shooting loss of control, shells fire forward and the thunderflash with knock out the opponent from the controller. like player ones controller will interfere with player 2’s car when lightning is triggered.
using boost tacticly, rather than having access to it whenever you want will be very fun.

i like where tomy has gone with these.

ive searched high and low all over bali for choros when ive been over there for weeks at a time, im guessing you must be from jakarta to have even had any chance of seeing them over there.

last trip to singapore when i did some exploring/shopping someone was kind enough to let me know of a whole mall of car related shops. hope its as good as the one with 2 levels of small retailers filled with 20+ years worth of transformers and other figures.
cant wait to get back over there!

sorry i got distracted by ausmicro being down again.

the battery is about the same form/size/shape as the battery in the buggies. i wont be attempting to open up the car untill it breaks to really check the dimensions because of the tiny wires and my non soldering skills.

on the packaging it says its a lithium ion cell. it has a great run time and is incredibly powerfull compared to the buggies and all other stock micro cars ive ever had.

the coils for the steering are mounted flat to the bottom of the chassy.

is the LM short for le mans? the silver sleek looking racing beast body doesnt have the room for a normal q-steer. it’d need to be heavily modded to fit. got that from a supermarket shelf, its bad quality and hasnt got real windows so the signal will be blocked.

did i mention yet the hybrids control range sh!ts all over the original q’s?

had another good look and i really love the supras. definatly going to have to track some down next singapore trip.

the painted rims are awesome also, allthough dunno about the gold ones on the gunmetal h2. i love that h2 by the way, i have a mini-z overlander with the exact colour h2 also.

did i guess right? was it the nsx? i know how tight that body is, i had to trim the entire back window off to get it to fit on a q-steer.

a whole bunch of new pics today, the lambo thats grey looks so **** nice. the mario kart wii controllers look like they have power up indicators on the transmitter. what this means i have no idea but the potential is pretty high. some kind of IR shooting while racing perhaps? dont know how bananas (think landmine) ability could be implemented.

blurrc, i have seen em on ebay. toyeast has em also.

k0ldd, no easy swap with the old bodies. the new hybrid range is all compatible, you could get lucky with an old choro-q body being exactly the right length for the screw to align in the front and the clip on the back AND the wheel arches to line up but that is a loooooong shot.

    some new updates:

the battery installed is a lithium ion. its about the same size as the old bit charge battery. the run times are great, and there is a LOT of power when boost is on. the speed without boost is pretty slow, about the same as a regular q-steer without boost.

the front tires are a little harder than the ond q-steer ones. old and new are exactly the same size. rear tires are the same width as the thin rears on the older make q-steers. there are 3 widths of rear tire on old q-steers to my knowledge. swapping the hard front tires with older style ones gave better steering performance.

got batteries. gave them both acharge and with boost on they fly. wheelstands without any coin needed. a gear swap could smooth out the accellertion a bit but there is no need to give them any more batery or motor upgrades.

all three came with the gimmick tha makes them spin on the spot which is pretty useless. i guess all the gimmicks are just as pointless.

strapya world order came through today. mucielago pullback, contach and toyota gt2000 arrived.

my wife picked up the mail, and i dont have any fresh aaa’s about. so i cant actually test them. 🙁

    they look great!

rear axle cant be removed. 🙁 motor is wired in 🙁 its a green ended one which is decently fast if its the same as a regular q-steer. cant change the gears, as the axle is fixed in place. there might be a work arond on that. the gears fitted are the standard white ones.

controllers are about twice as big, a little bigger than the buggy controller. a definate plus for big handed people.

ill update more once i get some batteries.
