Personally I’m happy to see the end of the little car on any form of printed material. It’s going to be very time consuming to make it print properly and look decent.

The tag-line “Where size does matter” will stay on all material down to a size point where it becomes pointless (ie Bit sized decals)

At least that’s the way I see it.

*whistles innocently* I don’t know what all this hoopla is all about 😉

Actually just let it serve as a reminder of who has total control over the site :shy:

Wow Kitty – They look unreal. Obviously your got the prototype logo design to work with you prototype testing idea!

On the Decal front guys, we could do a small sheet (about half A5 size) with say 3 Mini-Z sized logos and some tiny ones for Bits for about $2.50 plus postage.

My preference is to do an A5 sheet with some for 1/10 scale, Mini-Z and smaller plus strips for sun visor bands and wings. This would be about $5 and gives your a stack of decals.

Why so pricey? Well that paper (the GOOD quality commercial grade stuff) ain’t cheap, and neither is running them through either a hi-res laser (my preference for the crisp detail) or ink-jet. At those prices we’d be covering costs and that’s about it.

Postage will be an issue as well, they’ll need to be sent in suitable envelopes with some solid card to make sure they don’t get ruined.

In other words they won’t be super cheap but they’ll be affordable and top quality! I won’t be settling for anything less.

DaveF, That’s a very kind offer. We’d ofcourse ensure your costs were covered first though! Are those Decal sheets white and will they go through a colour laser printer? as well as inkjet? I simply have to find out where to get some becuase I’ve not seen them here in Canberra!

    Updated Status
I have constructed a high-resolution ‘sharp’ version of the logo without the little red car for use as a basic logo. It is tweaked slightly to compensate for the missing car. Derek and I probably still have some artistic issues to sort out with it but the fundamentals are there.

Kitty has been flat out working with ideas on the shirts, and I have to say it’s looking impressive! At this stage we’re working on a number of different design ideas…

And for those in the US (and elsewhere around the globe) there’ll be a range of merchandise available through CafePress that will be quite wide. Ofcourse there’s nothing to stop Aussies from buying from CafePress either, just keep in mind it’s in US$ and postage my be a little high.

Guys keep in mind that there is a running track in Lithgow. I know it’s in the boonies and we all understand the hassles getting out there but it’s a track that is up and running!

Are the track at St Ives any good for Mini-Z?

I haven’t really had the time to delve into the code that much yet. I still have about 50 more to add thatnks to DaveF!

The avatars can be in any graphics format and at the moment will be locked to 32×32. The code is designed to support 64×64 avatars as well..

    :)Hi Everyone,
OK I’ll make this 100% rock solid clear right now. Derek and I shall NOT be footing any of the setup charges. Considering we’ve been on-air for 10 months and I’m some $2K out of pocket thus far I’m not going further into the red.

Yes that’s how much hosting the site costs!

The reason we’ve run the poll is to determine what kind of merchandise people would like to see, so we can then find ways of making it happen. But I repeat we will not be fronting several hundred dollars required to produce hundreds of items.

    So our current Status is:
I have gotten some partial artworks from Derek to let me start creating the proper images for making logos with sharp edges and the like.
I will produce two logos, one with the car in detail, the slightly different.

Once we have the logos I will enable the CafeExpress merchandise first.

I have talked with Kitty and she’s goign to handle getting some local pricings for T-Shirts. Obviously the first batch won’t be cheap, but they will be exclusive.

You should keep in mind that most Grey Import cars are probably best best serviced by a place that specialises in them. There are apparently a few very good well equipped Sydney workshops with all the factory computer gear to hook up to the Import toyotas (and Nissans etc) that will do a better job than a Dealership.

Att eh same time these places often employ mechanics that can read the japanese language manuals and all that which makes it even better.

OK here’s the state of play:

We will be doing some Shirts and stickers of some kind very soon.

We are in the process (well Derek is the one who has to do this bit) of digging up all the original artworks for the logo so we can create a proper scalable non-anti-aliased logo that can be provided electronically to people that make the kind of merchandise items.

I will also be using that same logo to offer a small amount of stuff through CafePress – it will be mainly aimed at those outside of Australia. It will also let us supply some truely unique gear and boost our profile globally.

We will initially sell it direct through the Forums and Derek and Myself, but if there’s sufficient support I’m sure Steve from Trading Direct will be happy to handle larger volumes of items.

Thanks again for all your comments and ideas and please keep them coming.

I do have a teeny one I’m tempted to convert into a Bit Char-G though 😉

Tell me about it. I guess it was just a basic server crash at their end. It took out a few of their customers (and indeed their own site).

Just one of those things I guess!

    Plus the electronics.

Plus a few of the Kysho parts but not many nor many useful ones.

Yes bithed 😉 I’m looking at the CafePress idea – they’re not cheap for ‘locals’ but certainly they’re doable and best of all it would be a zero startup 😉

Will have a deeper play with their system and ideas today in some spare (just which hole do I pull that out of?) time 🙂
