*nods* Kitty has all the bumpy bits that are cues for my brain to know that she’s female!

And then there’s the sexy voice :smiley2:

*laughs* remember that most competitions need to be run under some rules from all states Lotteries acts. Ofcourse your “guessing” competitions seem to avoid this through some loop hole.

I would shy away from any competition that merely wen to someone with most posts in a certain period or relied upon a subject judgement. Something random is best 😉

*laughs* actually this code never came with the ability to ban IP addresses. BUT that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have it now.

Without exposing too much of the behind the scenes work… We can’t ban the IPs (as they we’re fixed to a user) in question, nor block the ISP, there’s too many users from that ISP that are valued members. BUT ways and means my friends, ways and means….

Well without giving too much away – there may be a period of member discounting available, and also a giveaway style promotion.

I will make it clear right now that ausmicro.com is more than happy to hear the ideas of anyone! We’re supporting Trading Direct becuase Trading Direct Supports us, like all our advertisers.

*laughs* Actually before people get too carried away, Trading Direct and ausmicro.com are working on stuff at the moment.

If any other company wants to run a competition they’re welcome to as long as it’s discussed in clear terms with Derek and I in advance. (unless you’re running it entirely off your site and only mentioning you’re running one here)..

Headbelt, What kind of parts and stuff are you after? For the most part Steve from Trading Direct has everything in stock ready to send.

As I m located in Canberra I occasionally have some stuff here that’s for-sale as well…

*laughs* actually there’s not a huge amount of inactive users… there’s people that don’t post but come as visitors (and signed up members) and the active member population…

I probably won’t cull anything until the DB size starts getting up a bit.

This new code is a little more efficient at controlling the DB size already.

    I think it’s pretty good…

    1000 members in 10 months
20000 Forum posts in 10 months (old and new including items lost in hack)
1.5 Million hits a month on average for the last 4 months
    etc
    etc

The HPI cars are very good. I don’t know about the idea of going Nitro as a beginner though. Nitro is harder work than electric to keep running.

Make sure your Local Hobby Shops stock the HPI parts, becuase there’s nothing worse than breaking something and having to wait for replacement parts from Tower etc. There’ll always be some parts that are special order but hopefully things won’t break too often 😉

Asides from that make sure you’re buying a car that suits where you’re going to run it. If you have lots of open smooth surfaces then road cars will rock your world… if you’ve got rougher unsealed areas then a buggy/rally car may be the go… Don’t get something that is going to limit how and where you can enjoy it 😉

In the end the $$ will be collected by either me or Kitty. You’ll be able to send cash, cheque, money orders, pay paypal if you’re willing to cover the transaction costs and ofcourse Direct Deposit.

Once you pay for a shirt (and nominated your size) you will definately get one!

The first run is 25 shirts, which due to cash situations will be limited to cash in advance as Derek, myself or Kitty can front the several hundred dollars required to get this off the ground.

We’d be making about 50c per shirt if we’re lucky …. Even Derek and I are paying for our own! (paying for 4 colour artwork, setup fees, delivery fees, the better quality shirts etc does mean they do have a fairly high cost!)

Hopefully we’ll have some pics early next week once I sorta finish the artwork. Ofcourse this is a rubber timing and may end up being late next week :smiley16:

I have to say Kitty is busting a feline gut sorting this out for us.

To that end we’re almost through settling the err ‘artistic’ differences in the design concepts.

We’re making sure that we have the highest quality source artwork to give the printers, a nice unique design that’s clear and works to keep a lid on costs. By putting the time and effort in here we’re making sure we don’t have to pay design fees.

We have picked the 3/4 sleeve tops because coming into winter they’ll be a little warmer, the coloured sleeves give them more presence and they’re a bit different to the ‘norm’ club shirts that most people do.

As Kitty has said we’re working to lid the costs at AUD$30+post. At this stage we’re not going to be able to supply them outside of Australia for that price unless you’re prepared to cover exchange costs (through Paypal) and obviously increased postage. There will be merchandise available internationally for members outside of Australia shortly – keep watching for more details.

*laughs* Actually I must apologise for not having more up. I’ve been sidetracked a bit… that includes the custom avatars people have sent for themselves…

The good news is soon (when I mod the code) everyone will be able to enter a URL to their custom avatars. I will host avatars for people here if they don’t have a web area.

*laughs* 1/10ths on the staging areas (or practice Parade grounds) to the main Parade ground are where most of my RC’ing is done these days… Only hassle is sometimes the boys and girls are our there actually marching on them! DOH!

Ofcourse the office floor is also good for all scales!

I think admin (my alter-ego) decided that Shypo needed a reminder of his position – and as such removed 1000 posts and 1000 rep points from his profile for 12 hours.

Errr not technically the 27 and 40Mhz frequencies are the only ones legally allowed to be used here (and 29Mhz) for land based RC. All the rest are basically illegal.

As a primary importer JNH can’t bring in other frequencies.
Trading Direct and others can becuase it’s done in small volumes and not done through offical channels. But at the end of the day those frequencies shouldn’t be used.
