Bugger! I’ve disassembled it and no loose wires. Magnet

is in place. Spring is still there,although it sort of

popped out when i opened it so I’ve no idea how to put

it back. One of the wires appears to be tied around

another wire.

Maybe I just have a dead unit. Bugger ebay! Should

have bought from a shop. My first experience with

ebay too. 🙁

Still as has already been suggested, check for the wiring being properly attached at to the PCB. Check that there’s nothing fouling the steering mechanism.

And worst case disassemble the front end to check the magnets.

you might have knocked the steering magnet out of place. try disassembling the front end, and make sure your magnet is attached in the centre.

the wires will not short, but there is a chance you broke one of them! check there are no loose ends floating about. it is also possible that one could have come loose from the PCB. (one of my OEMs came with the antenna detached!!!)

Yep that’s my guess too deejay. They’re very definitely Tomys – just inconveniently packaged to save a few bucks.

And defor, you’re right of course, there is no 2.0 motor, I always get confused. I meant the yellow 2.2s. They’re very rare here – I think punters sifted through and picked them out. Except at the more expensive places. I got one with a 2.2, bought a couple of extra bit racer 2.2s and have two orange bit racer 2.6s. At least I think that’s what they are, I can never remember. Blue slow, yellow fast, orange insane. That’s the way I think of them. I’ve seen the red 3.0s in a hobby store for around $10 but I don’t think I could control them. :smiley1: I might get one just for a laugh.

I also have the 3.0 and for the stock car I experienced similar issues. The solution is a 2.4v mod, it has never stopped since !

Defor, your axle may not be too big, I’ve taken mine apart a there is a “swedge” on the end to secure them into the plastic. When I have some time I plan on going into the shop and machining some up for myself and try some of the softer silcon HO slot car wheels on them and maybe do some 3D surface contouring to give it some style.

I’ve been buying a OEM Bulet version labled as “Mini Movers”, I just received three more and one was alittle different and, upon inspection it came from LEYU Toys, casted on the underside. These cars come standard with the 2.6 motor plus are available in three frequencies with the standard Tomy bodies thou different paint jobs. The LEYU car however came with a 6T pinion instead of the 7T as the others but, has a yellow cased battery instead of the green and lasts about 7 minutes per charge. I’ll probably put the 7T gear arrangement in for alittle more power. I’m modding a RX7 body now and will post the final when it’s done, it features a lowered body on chassis and is more scale like with a chopped top to boot.

the biggest thing that bits have going for them is the size!!!
sure, a tin car or mini-z hasimpressive customising/performance potential, but there really is nothing quite like driving a remote controlled car as teeny as the bit char-g.

no modifications needed, unless you want to hide the battery within the body… otherwise, just wire it up and go racing!

I’ve got the same problem. Mine just started last night. Although it still turns pretty sharply in both directionswhen its actually in motion, when I hold it in my handand Ilift the car up and do a right tap on the controls the front wheels click right in a strong manner. When I click left, the wheels respond in a really weak manner as if there is only half power going tothe left coil.

Did you ever solve your problem?

my 3.0 works ok in some cars and has probs in others – i cannot work out why! i have fiddled with the way it fits in, and the best solution seems to be to use a cable to tie the motor in position, as you can be more accurate than with the steel motor cover.

i tried bits of paper or card in different spots around the motor (when using the motor cover) but my problem was that the motor needed to be seated LOWER than the steel cover would allow for to avoid the gears binding.

i now have it working ok strapped in tomy 2.4v booster – i just need to work out a neat and portable charging solution!

My guess is singapore has FCC type restrictions the same way UK, US and AUS do. In the US, Microsizers redesigned the boxes to reflect the new frequency scheme. In AUS the compact char-G company did the same to comply with the laws there. I bet singapore has similar laws but the importers who brought them in didnt wanna spend on redesigned boxes and used a sticker fix to keep costs down. So now the cars are singapore compliant but the importing company didnt wanna spend on the redesign.

MR2GTS: Where did you see a 3.0 with BitChar-G on it!! Is this new?!

Tomy sells the 3.0 motor as an “S” part number which is designed for the BitRacer, and the label even says BitRacer. The fastest “GS” part number I know of (which is designed for the BitChar-G) is GS-05, which is a 2.6 motor. I have never heard of a 3.0 motor for the Bit Char-G. Can you tell me where to find it?

Tomygives a caveat when they released the 3.0 motor, mentioning that it may require a push-start, so its really not fair that you guys are coming down on a motor that wasnt designed for what you are using it for. You may want to look into an OEM 3.8 motor from HK, or a 3rd Party 3.8 from the US. I havent heard of any push start issues with those.
