dog bones are now your weak spot… did you find the match of the alloy top to the plastic lower to be a perfect match? By that I mean did you have to shave out any alloy from the inside of the box? FYI, pulled apart the servo box of my monster on the weekend (first time – needed a clean out), took near 40 mins to get it all back together. And dont get me started on that tiny brass spacer that goes between 2nd and 3rd gears… dropped it twice, hence the reason it took so long to reassemble

got most of the upgrades you list; bearnigs, a.w.d., body kit (that Sparco wheel is heaps better), spring/tierod set, tyre set. Will be Loktiting the knuckles in tonight. I guess you’re saying the foam tyre set is crap? Was’nt sure but figured seeings you mentioned Steve Irwin… well… as for the light set, got one coming soon. The body would be heaps lighter if there was’nt a dozen screws holding all the body parts on… anyone tried glueing them in instead? Merc; where you getting the hollow drive shaft?

would’nt mind sourcing some of those thin aluminium front and rear plates… you seen em Jowlz? Funky anodized stuff, with the Honda logo or spider web and a few other options… More for looks though than purpose I feel

that effect I think (with mine anyway) has to be due to the rear suspension setup. How come the rear wheels camber in their movement? Really stuffs up traction I think

that drive shaft is only necessary if running the a.w.d… and damn its a heavy little bugger! Carbon fibre myight do its job will I think. I was thinking that those two whitish plates on top front and rear were not necessary either… Jowlz; how much more crap can you remove to save weight?

looks like the method of extending an Xmods wheel base would be a little more technical than adding an H plate… those four screws on the rear underside are a little too far apart to accommodate an H plate without some serious modifications. I actually prefer the current suspension setup, but the rear is a little to stiff

are’nt those long plates for extending the wheel base beyond the norm? (ie. to mount model shells, etc.) Saw those crappy steel H plates down the bottom too… Let us know how that idea of yours goes, i’d like to know of any other advantages if I may…

just a silly expression I use every now and then… a thought though, Talldude… when those alloy damper stays go in it’s just going to create a new weak spot elsewhere

Stu/ Nov; O plates are an alternative to H plates, a lot stiffer, hence less likely to snap. M plate? Well, i’ll tell you when I find out but I bet it’s a Monster thing…

mate that car’s got bigger balls than me… hehehe. Have to get another two I guess. I was warned by Jamie ages ago that i’d go through the carbon plates. At least it lasted a few months…

quoting me thee Pete, sort of. The O plate I had on the rear of my GTR was very stiff, but like you say I did not need to use either roll or friction shocks with the O plate in place of the H plate. The friction shock would still do some work, but I found the roll shocks were not necessary. Ken; does this mean you have access to O plates?!? mmmm yes please…!!

ah yes, Everquest… you too can be sucked into your pc, never to return… I draw the line at the Final Fantasy series… pretty hard but nowhere near as full on as EQ…
Not bad, thirty two page thread and we’ve only just wandered off topic… hehehe. I wonder how far this can go before the powers that be (big smile and a wave!!) say that’s enough…
So – numbers this weekend? Nev; Iknow you’re in, you wanna head over on Saturday and we’ll get some of this material happening? Would’nt mind doing a test run on Saturday too, but I think that’ll be after 4pm…

oddly enough it slides its rear when turnig left, so about 2 foot, which is still big. Turning right is closer to 3 feet… the Canberra meet up will sort the drivers from the hobbyists… no Xmod going to be with me though… my Zs are heaps quicker
