Anyone know where I can order a DG Master? I missed the boat on the cheapies at ToyEast.. now I can’t find anyone who’s got them (for a decent price).
Yeah I was using Firefox – works fine in IE.
Nup.. I get this when I try and upload something in the ‘upload image’ field…
‘There Was A Problem. * You must enter a valid URL.’
MCG fly over
9, 8, 7, 6, 5 …Aaron – I see it now.. dunno how I missed it before.
Hmmm.. Firefox crashed when I tried to post a pic.

Trash – more Maldon pics here : http://kerosene.photosite.com/aerial/
But none are really high enough to see good landing spots.
Taken from the Bendigo end of the main street.
I d say the oval or the golf course would be the best places to land a paraglider…not that I’ve got any idea what’s involved in landing. I’ve seen a few paragliders up around Mt Tarrengower – never seen em land though.
Whoohoo!

But I can’t see any option to upload.. only a field for a url.
All that stuff will work fine.. but:
I ‘d go for a Slowstick instead of a Pico. The price difference isn”t much, and there”s way more SS flyers around that can give you help/info if you need it. The SS can also tolerate a bit more wind than the Pico.
That esc should be fine. I”ve never used Schulze stuff, but I hear lots of good things about them.
What ever you do, DO NOT get a GWS esc… I”ve burnt up 2 already (although running an ISC300 w/ 8 cells was asking for trouble).
You”ll want a bigger battery than that. I”d say minimum of 800mah. I get around 15-20mins flight with my 1050mah 8 cell pack – much less if I fly enthusiastically.
That JR is ok, but you might want to look at 5ch radios. You only need 3 channels for a Slowstick, but once you add a camera, lights, or an extra ”utility” servo (for dropping bombs) you”ll want some more channels.
The Hitec Flash 5 is good value, and has heaps of functions. I kinda wish I had got one of them instead of a JR (F500), but the JR does come with a nice rx. And it feels much more solid than the Hitek. Not sure if the Quatro comes with servos, but if it does – see if the seller will swap them for micro servos.
Get a few extras props too. And make yourself a prop saver (or buy one).

$85 isn’t too bad. It’s probably still cheaper than paying freight from HK or the US.
I’ll chuck my usb video cam on the plane next time I go up, and you can all see my graceful aerial manoeuvres 😀
The video on the camera is only 15fps I think.. not worth using anyway. But I’ve got a little 30fps usb video camera I should try on the SS.
Not sure what the max payload would be.
The SS by itself (no battery) weighs about 350g, and will happily carry an 8 cell nimh pack and my camera (nimh & cam = apx 245g). With the brushless motor the SS will fly vertically, so I guess it could carry lots more and still have enough power to climb pretty well.Well… that’s good enough for me. SOLD!
I’ll be getting one in my next order from wherever.
Thanks Priest.$55 at rcmart.. last I looked ToyEast was only $27.90.
Hey Priest, where did you order from?
merc-blue, this should be all you need:
Radio (rx/tx/xtal) $325
Slowstick $70-$80
2 x micro servos $30 each
8 cell nimh pack $40
ESC $65I’ve had my Slowstick running with lipos/brushless, which is far far better than the stock GWS motor. But my motor died.. so I’m back to brushed until I get another brushless.
modelflight.com.au has Parkzone Slow-V ready to fly Slowstick clones for $239 including EVERYTHING you need. Radio, batteries, everthing. These are made by the same people that make Aerobirds etc.. and are meant to be good. But you can’t use the radio gear with other planes.

Roj’s Hobbies in Fairfield (Vic) usually has Slowsticks for around $70 – $80.

Video at bottom of page – they look cool.
I’m in this one 😀
Another one – about as high as I can get and still safely see the plane.

Yeah I’ve got most of the RS stuff.. and the resistor for the steering but never got around to installing it.
I guess I’ll have to find some $ for a Nelly then. Seems a shame to leave my xmod sitting around doing nothing.Camera is an Aiptek 2mp modified by blip.com.au. Plugs into the receiver and is triggered by a switch on my radio, or on auto (takes a photo about every 10 seconds).
What a grand contraption:
Another pic I took today in Maldon (up near Bendigo):
I’ve been tempted to get one too. Quality looks good, and the videos I’ve seen look pretty impressive.
Another one…

I just got one too… and am actually pretty happy with it (for the $).
I kinda like the weird steering setup where you hold left/right and it turns tighter and tighter. Pity the TX is such junk.Priest – Did you get the Odyssey and the Legacy? Any luck with fitting the body onto a Z? Pics please 🙂
I think the March will fit a Z without much modding – it’s just sitting on my iwaver in this pic, but it would be easy to make some clips to hold it on properly.

Looks tuff hey 😀
I voted RC plane. Nothing beats waking up at 5am (before the wind picks up) to go fly a Slowstick. :dead::D
If it was on the list my vote would have gone to ph2t’s Woah Nelly.
Not sure if the tx works with Epochs, but the quality is a million times better than the old iwaver transmitters. Feels good to use… nice balance, good resistance on the wheel etc.
I REALLY like the whole iwaver thing. I’m not going anywhere near my MR02 with a soldering iron 👿 I’d rather make a USD$50 mistake than a USD$100+ mistake.
