that is real cool stuff you got there man!

can you give us more details like how fast is that thing? are they foam tires you got on it?

    looks real good

Its as fast as you care to make it. With X-speed 20-25kmh on the speed checker. With Iwaver X.-speed Pro 45-50 kmh before the cells give out but is undriveable.

With the right set up it is great fun to drive against the mini Zs but getting the steering to your liking takes a while.

Tyres are foam from the manufacturer on the front an self made foam strip tyres on the rear. It comes with alloys and a Ball diff, alloy steering knuckles.

Here is the site. Unfortunatly the kits are not available at the moment due to supplier problems. http://www.crt-remote.com/en/frames.htm

Micro servo from Hitec or Graupner, the ESC is from Twister and Jeti Rex 5 receiver were purchased separately.

OK!!! Thanks people for the info. I have already check out all the other products, like Woah Nelly and the online shop of Ausmicro and all relevant links

Also thanx Betty K. for the input power info. I though that the external turbos could handlie more!!!!! I was ready to make battaries that could deliver about v7.2 / Two (one each side in parallel connection – 2300mA and v7.2) so to have more power and more time.Pls advise something for this ‘project’

I have already ordered FETs from dinball.com in order to make the internal turbo!! 2 sets x Turbo FET-9A (2pcs) which are capable of v9.0 each set. Hope i am correct8-)so to put the v7.2 batteries

I am also trying to find FETs at stores here in Greece, believe me it is difficult!!!!! So to have spares ones!!!! I have a small problem with simpe spares!!! for a small piece of spares i normally wait 7-9days. 8-s 8-(

But I believe i got some basic idea how to built some things!!! i have 1 Firelap 4.0 and 1 Kyosho Mini-z Monster. Hope soon i will put some info and pics into this site.

Of course thanx ph2t for info in this site!!! By the way i have bypassed the main switch of my monster and dont have that problem , Also found some French guys that put more FETS on gpm v2 turbo and that was fun also!!!!Their site was on French and could not understand all of them but pictures and info were very interesting!!!!

and defenately will order more thinks from dinball and toyeast because i have tried them and all looks fine to meI (I will check and ausmicro store-must check shipping expenses). But i have to wait for a friend or two or more to order together so to minimize shipping expenses!!!!!

You see it is difficult to find out FETs at Greece, where i am from, i order everything from dinball Hong Kong. i have ordered 2x v9 FETsi believethese will handle much more power. But i want to know what’s the power input these can handle. Because i want to prepare the batteries and this info will help very much

This is mt Super Slicks 4X4 with the Hummer upgrade. I also goe the Ford 150 upgrade, took the lights from it, and installed them in the hummer.

    10168291ic.jpg

Then I got tires from a RC18T Supr Dirt Tire (masher) and they fit in the Super Slocks 4X4 wheels. They are a little taller than the stock tires, but they look great. The give the truck more hight, and don”t interfear with the steering.

    10168596ec.jpg

Tire #1 is a RC18T pined tire, #2 is a RC18T street tire, and #3 is the stock SS4x4 tire.

Anyway – mainly posting here to gloat that I”m got myself a Chassis set coming in just for me (someone snapped up the Readyset I did have my eye on….). Hopfully the Chysler 300C shell will be riding atop it, a PN Anima and a FET job 🙂

    @Aaron
I thought the Chrysler 300C is a MR015 MM. Will the wheelbase with 98mm be too long?

    i love the chevy!

and dave, acrylic (perspex?) would be fine! a couple of those would be great.

fast4buy, any chance of getting a scale drawing of the extenders youve made?

Thanks guys, glad you like the idea with the acrylic. As it was a one off I did not do a drawing, just measured up marked out, got out the dremel and started carving. It is therefore not a perfect part designed for mass production but fits and does the job. The advantage is it was easy to mark the dril hole positions and notch positions direct from the chassis. I made the extender a bit longer and have sets of holes for 2 different wheel bases. I don’t slide theextender back and forth as I want the acylic to be supported by the back wall of the chassis.

Good luck with your versionssounds like you got it under control. Show us a photo when finished.

    Cheers

    Hi ,

I”m new to this forum but not to Mini Z been a fan for 3 few years. Found this forum though ph2t and his concrete tack on an other forum.Saw your light on, thought I”d drop in wink.gifDon””””””””””””””””t be fooled by the flag, I”m an Aussie but I live in the land of Lederhosen, Oktoberfest , BMW and all the other Bavarian stereotypes you can think of. Anyway Custom mini Z s have been a favourite passtime of mine for a while now.Inspired by the work of stefanoparis above, I went though a phase of bulding one every couple weeks or so for a while. Here are some of the results:

Thats most of the Oldies, no FJ or EH holdens im afraidsmile.gif I would kill for an HG Monaro 1:25 kit and can of orange duco. smile.gif

Here is the current extended chassis

And details of the extension method

I”ve got a few other customs gathering dust, some more modern bodies and NASCARS. More ater. There are some pretty nice custom bodies floating around here though.

I only need the RX chip, the one with turbo function (HLEC refers to it as ‘RX2C’, HEC as ‘HES3017’, and Pericom as ‘PT8A978P/978LW’.

The SOIC14 package would be fine. Sorry,I don’t understand that about ‘blob’ version.

    Thank you for your attention.

Thank you for wour answer, ph2t. The matter is I allready have a car,but the RX2C IC has been damaged. I don’t have enough budget for a new car. Won’t any IC manufacturer company or electronic’s shop sell these kind of ICs?

Manufacturers like ‘RealTek’, ‘HEC’, ‘HLEC’ or ‘Pericom’ produce those ICs, but their websites don’t have a ‘buy on line’ service.

Does anybody know a price for these 4wd beasts? The front steering knuckles and dog bones look a lot like the first gen xmod set up. I hope it is a lot stronger. I am not really all that interested in the xmod evolution series cars. They realy look cheap. very toyish looking. But if there were alloy parts then they might look better. But we all know how expensive that would be, the new design looks like it has alot of small parts to it. an xmod will never ever ever compare to a mini z.

I know how troublesome the servos can be at times, I’m not sure how it is on the 02 electronics but on the 01 there is a dial just below the servo fets. on the 01 coming out of the servo are 4 wires, two of them are green and orange. where they connect to the pcb is where you want to look. now right in front of them is a small circular metalic piece, now if you set the steering trim to neutral on your remote and your car pulls to the left or right, use a pencil as a tool to turn the dial as you do your servo will go left or right accordingly. all you have to do is turn your pencil eraser down and use it like a screw driver. My servos are perfectly centered. I figured this out when I changed my servo gears to alloy, and my servo wasn’t centered afterwards. It is sure easier than taking the servo apart.

    Hey guys

Im in the USA and they are selling them for around $160.00 USD almost 200 in AU I think is what that is . But I watched one drive and its a great little electric rc . Im gonna pick one up this week . That vid shown at the start of this post shows some of these little cars and they are way slower looking in the vid. In real life they move ,and the one I saw here in town moved pretty fast (faster then in the vid) . And it was stock out of the box. Also the one I saw had a truck body on it and it looks a ton better. But I agree about the bolt on motor look lol . Its kinda stupid.

    Aaron,

I am not sure if you were aware, but I do remember that the Ice has a flex-charge mode for nicdsin which it charges for a few minutes, then discharges. This process goes on until the battery peaks. It is supposed to break down crystaline formations in your old nicd packs.
