I guess thats the way i should have gone, but when i found it on ebay, i had no idea there was a site=( Its been 7 days sence i orderd, and i guess its not over due or anything, because i think i’ve read posts of up to 15 days it took, so we’ll see.

I feel like I’m getting the hump from Toy East, having spent about $180 with them (that figure includes the postage) my last orderwas for two of those GP motorcycles, from’out-of-the-box’one won’t steer and the other won’t drive, Ihave sent two emails so far, one was 10 days ago the other 4 days ago.

I have a 27mhz nsx. Today I took apart my controller looking for the cripple capacitor. I do not have it on the top of the board but i believe i might have it on the bottom. On the bottom near the red LEDs I have a resistor and a capacitor. The capacitor is marked “10”. It is not in the same location as the other pictures I have seen. That is why Iam hesitant to cut it. Here are pictures of the top and the bottom. In the picture of the bottom you can see the capacitorto the right-bottom of the LEDs. Is this the cripple capacitor?

I can’t recommend one over the other as they each have their hits’n’misses. Perhaps a few points to get you thinking….

• The DigiQ is FASTER and SMALLER than the Bit Char-Gs
• Bit Char-G charges in 45 SECONDS as opposed to around 10 MINUTES for the Digi Q. FUrthermore, the Bit Char-G is ahead in terms of battery life (especially if using a 2.2 or slower motor)
• The Digi Q offers proportional steering, however, the Char-G has a better turning circle.
• Outdoors-too bright sunlight or VERY HOT weather will upset the Q’s infrared system
• High RF-interference areas can upset the G’s RF system and decrease range
• Both are upgradeable, however, many more hop-ups available for the Char-G

Hey I saw their booth at Hot Import Nights @ the L.A. Convention Center last night. Their prices were $30 – $35 bux. I bought a couple. It’s interesting seeing fads like this start, I remember some years ago when the Tamagotchi was the in thing, I managed to get one from the first ever shipment Toys’R’Us got in the UK. I went along one early Saturday morning and queued up to get my Tama, strange experience but quite fun. At that time they were gold dust and I could have sold it for 4-5x (I was narked I got a white one cos I wanted a clear blue one). So anyway the fad just grew and grew till all the clones came out and that just about spelt the end of the craze. I did manage to setup a webpage back in ’97 during the heat of the fad: http://www.ridhughz.demon.co.uk/tamagotchi/ and I still get emails from kids asking where can they get a Tamagotchi from. Strange thing, millions were sold yet they’ve all just about disappeared, probably buried at the bottom of millions of kids toyboxes.

The Tamagotchi’s life was understandably finite, but the Bit Char-G I can only see it getting better, now I have some of these miniature cars I’m now waiting for them to bring out RC cars the size of Micro Machine cars. Only had to wait 20 years for the Bit Char-G, wonder if I’ll have to wait half that time for Micro Machine sized cars :smiley1:

I placed an order yesterday, which is Saturday, July 13th. we’ll see how it goes.

I just checked, and i got an email confirmation probably 2 hours after i ordered it. mayb it was morning for them, and they got the order right away or something.

Add new longerantenna or more batteries to the controller. If you add more batteries don’t use that controller as a charger for your car use an alternate controller.

ylexot-as i mentioned earlier- these are just some ideas i was thinking of to kinda even play-but if we decide to adopt some sort of rule system then all of this can be changed… the choice to say “no ac” or other non-portable chargers was made in part to continue the spirit of portability of the bit char-g, and to also reduce some of the danger involved in POSSIBLE mods people might perform, not being wary of proper charging methods, etc. but of course, this is just my quick thought about it.

Derek- thanks- yeah, having competed in offroad and onroad rc back when i was in highschool 8-10 years ago, there always was a set of rules everyone abided by- hanging frequency/channel stickers, proper etiquette for win/loss, etc. I was drafting this up from the position of tryign to push the hobby through establishing set “tournaments” or other events hobby stores and other venues could pursue.

I’d like to offer my personal thanks for your effort in putting this together. Stuff like this takes AGES to get right and I can see you’ve put a lot of work/thought into the idea.

Gotta hit the sack now (11.10pm here…. 9am Monday less than 10hrs away :smiley6:), but I will re-visit the thread and offer some of my ideas.

Yeah – no 40MHz cars here but we’re VERY keen to see if they’re going to conflict with “near” frequencies.

ausmicro.com WILL NOT be selling these cars. Traditional (chain) retailers have the best chance of making the hobby work here on a larger scale. We’re happy to keep supplying Japanese import cars and accessoriesfor our members who want them for their collections.

Excellent Derek. Now for the really important question:

Any interference issues with 40MHz and either 35 or 45 MHz?

If not, I’ll have to order one from you guys when you start stocking them. I already have a 40 MHz bullet, but the quality (or lack of) keeps me from playing with it. My plan is to get up to 6 cars racing together. It will take all the Jap freqs, the Aus/UK 40 MHz and the US 49 MHz to pull it off.

Guess I’ll have to add those to the database…already got two data points.

I don’t understand the need for this one. I was planning to make a plug-in charging station for my Bits and frankly, I don’t see how it makes any difference.

Do you have any problems reversing with the car? Like is it sometime to wweak to even move it at all, and how far is your range?

I have both these problems and am looking for some answers for the Compact Char-Gs.
