hey cos! nice to have you here. a couple of other local fet sources are microamps http://www.MicroAmps.com.au
he sells fets in packs of 5 if you want to have a try at the much loved fet mod or you can send him your car for modding. he does first class work and can do a bunch of other electronical stuff too!
or ph2t has an alternate external fet mod called biff http://www.ausmicro.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2048&FORUM_ID=4&CAT_ID=2&Topic_Title=biff+%2D+the+BCG+turbo%2C+now+on+sale%21&Forum_Title=Micro+Scale+%2D+For+Sale+%7C+Wanted+%7C+Trading
have a little browse around the forum and you’ll see why these guys got the reputations that they does!:smiley16::8ball:

my reason for choosing mac is familiarity. whenever i’ve used a computer it’s mostly been a mac so i’m used to it. i currently use an old apple monitor (green phosphor! night vision!) with my wireless cam as it has a video input! and i’ve got a “g2” power mac in the shed i plan on reviving:p:8ball:

i’ve never owned any sort of computer, but the tool of choice for serious audio production was always a mac. i only ever use a few programs and i’ve never clogged it up with games or useless novelties. but as a recent pc user i must say xp professional has been easier to get used to than the previous windoze os’s.:8ball:

well i’m using a bigarse nicad pack for the rx when i need portability and ph2t’s made me a fancy voltage regulator and filter which i’ll be trying tomorrow. thanks for the info gang, and thanks trash! you saved me from farting about with the aerial, i’ll leave it alone now!:smiley2::8ball:

range quoted is 100m. i’ve never driven it further than about 30 – 40 m before, but that’s with the cam in the yard and the rx in the lounge room and i’ve had very little signal loss with fresh batts.
panda, i think you’re right on the money with the regulated voltage idea. i’ve had a word with ph2t about it and he’s gonna sort something out eventually.:8ball:

ok, gotta question. when i run the camera and reciever off 9V batteries, everything’s cool. but when i use a plugpack transformer to power the reciever as i’d like to, the picture is terrible, fat white bands across the screen. what can i do to fix this? my first guess with my limited knowledge is to have the aerial mounted away from the rx unit, am i on the right track? or is it more likely the fact that i’m using a standard multi volt transformer? (digitor, output 500ma):8ball:

meh, been done already. the show was called “skippy the bush kangaroo”. exactly the same as lassie, skippy used to make some clicking sounds to someone who would be able to translate that into “what’s that skip, sonny’s crashed the chopper into a mud brick hut and is trapped and needs immedeate medical attention? and we nee to bring a block and tackle and some rescue gear?”:8ball:

nah, not really. just seems that the official underglow colour is blue for any scale. nice to see something different:smiley2::8ball:

cool, thanks for the tips, i was hoping you’d drag your experience with these over here!:smiley2:
i’m sure this is fragile, it’s just a cheapy so i knew it would be poorer quality than a more reputable brand. but it works surprisingly well, i’m able to drive out the back door, down the driveway and to the front door with only a little signal loss in known radio dead spots. and the tank moves slow enough for it to be easy to drive by screen. more pics here http://community.webshots.com/album/138036297rgTmjE:8ball:

if you still have problems, try asking on a us based site. there’s not a lot of zz’s down here. i’ve personally never laid eyes on one:8ball:

the ute has perfection soft rear and zz factory tyres. and the holes are for lights which i removed.
sbcg pcb’s have enough output anyway, but i doubt biff will work on it:8ball:

try pressing on different parts of the pcb while holding a controller button down. maybe it looks connected but isn’t. tried different motors/batt’s in it yet? maybe your homie aint the shizzle after all?!!:dead::8ball:
