I would have said the 2.2s are urine yellow, but maybe that’s just me.

I’ve always wonderred – what’s the benefit/advantage of the rare earth magnet? Why bother spending the money to get them at all.

Nice tips on the other stuff though. What make/model of lock was the spring from (save time when we go into the locksmith), or what was the specs for the spring (size, wind, tension, etc.)?

Looks really good. I assume they’ve added to that over a period of time to make it what it is today. Well thought out.

I figure as there’s 4 frequencies any track should be designed for 4 cars. I know there are infact 6 frequencies including the Aussie 40, and the USA 49, but I have heard mixed reports about them being able to race together successfully without frequency crossover causing drivers to influence the control of each others cars.

With the Char-Gs the different motors are colour coded. Seems they go from cool colours to warm colours the faster they go (blue through yellow to red).

What colours are the ones you have? perhaps someone here with a Bullet may know what speed your motors are from the colour.

The 15cm wide track sounds a little too small for racing 4 cars on. Is that your plan? The rest of it sounds good. The clear strips could have the advertising stuck on the reverse of it so it’s visible through the plastic,, and it would stay protected against bumps. I like the idea of grass area before the barriers. I thought about doing that on my track, but ask the kids were to be the main drivers on it, I thought I’d make it easier for them. The barriers aren’t always a help though, so you still need to try and drive through the corner and around the barriers.

Paul and I also worked on a video on my track, we had loads of footage, unfotunately the whole thing came out way too dark to see anything. not quite sure where we went wrong, but we’ll give it a go again once we have some gearman plane spotting lights installed.

Make the last 5 topics a last 10 or last 20 topics and you’re on a winner. Looks good man.

UK man, I like the new design of the UK site, except for the menu down the side. It’s very hard to read until you do a rollover, and the rollovers are really slow to load. I have a huge bandwidth optic fibre link at work, and it’s slow there too. Just thought I’d give you some feedback. other than that the new look is good, and as always the content there is excellent.

I figure two tracks on a CD will make a good substitute for starters lights for now. 1 track with a “Start your engines” and a 45 second gap (or crowd sounds) to allow people to sync the time they charge their bits, then a second track that is the countdown from a racing game (5 beeps, last one being different for Go). A few car take off sounds perhaps, then nothing. All you need to start a race then is a stereo with a CD player.

I’ll ship Aaron and Derek the sounds in MP3 format, so people can burn their own to CD, or play the sounds on their PC. If A + D are interrested that is.

I used WebShots free picture hosting, that way people from other forums can look also – they don’t have to become a member of yet another forum to see the shots. See link below, then click on My Photos link and sign up for the free album space.

Can anyone record and email me the sound from the starters count on a race game from the playstation or PC, like Gran Turismo, or Colin McRae rally, etc?? Just the 3-5 second count/beeps/countdown. Cheers.

I figure the tree would be the best looking, and easiest to see from many angles. It’d either need to be light bulbs (as LEDs have a very narow range of visibility), or LEDs encased somehow with thin white translucent plastic and aluninium foil, so the whole white area ligfhts up. I’m not explaining it well, but It’d need to be more than just LEDs.

You would need a booster car diagram also from my understanding, although I’m told some RC cars utilise a pulse from the controler in varying frequency (confusing term, but here I mean frequency as it related to number of occurrances) to vary speed in the car. Less pulses, slower car. I don’t know if that’s how the Bits work, and from discussio9ns with other people it sounds more like there a resister in the car which limits the power to the motor if the button isn’t pressed on the controller.

The mini cooper body got scrapped. BMW wanted too much for thew rights to use the shell shape, so they went with a VW shell instead.

Partridge family bus. hahahaaa. The tour bus idea sounds cool. “On tour” decal on the front. excellent. chicks hanging out the windows, and a guy skiiing on pots and pans hanging off the back.

Now there is a top mod. A small pot in place of the resister on a booster car. Any tech heads tuning in here and keen to fully document the steps with photos?? Derek… Aaron… Anyone??

    Thanks Cobra.

Shypo, I thought you were getting one for Xmas, or was that just on the letter you wrote to Santa?

One more photo on the site now too.

Can you get me a photo of the board, and highlight/trace the path for me please? Actually, that’d be a good thing to have on this site, as it’s one of the best technical Bit sites.

I suppose I may need to just resolder the resister. Might check the resister with the fairlady booster too, they may be different.

Oh, and thanks for the feedback on the track. Along with the kids faces on Xmas day, and the fun I’ve had with it (and them) since, it makes the effort it took to build it seem worthwhile. Also, it’ll help me get inspired to make some more track to go with it. Now that I have all the paints and adhesives, it won’t cost me much to add to it, plus I have all the tools to do it now too. All I need is the space to work.
