Quote:Looks very nice !
Going to have to rub my 350z against it.
😀
hahahaha… no worries… you gotta catch it first though, lol… yeah, i’m not really worries about this getting dinged up, and cant run it outside of novice due to its being a two door and all.
…and the rear… actually handles very well, so will be using this for racing…
the finished product!!! Photos taken before it’s maiden voyage… z-beam; Tamiya PS-18. betty; would’ve maybe done it that way, but the biggest issue was the fact that the headlights/tailights, door handles, etc. were located within the window trims, so unfortunantly it would’ve been difficult to keep the inside stickers in decent shape while removing from the windows. Here’s the front view anyway…
especially getting them sideways around corners!! A heap of fun…:D
glad it all worked out for you, it looks pretty damn good. Cant wait to help rub some off again…:smiley2::D. Glad you and betty found my tips useful…:)
as long as they don’t take as long as it took to get my Xmod over here…
Quote:Looks like I’ve stuffed up applying the decals on my m03 shell, got air bubbles, rips and wrinkles… It’s quite hard applying the front headlights on without any wrinkles for some strange reason. There’s got to be a special technique of some sort. Do they need to be heated up slightly with a hair dryer first ?Oh well, race shell now…
😀
try applying with a MILDLY soapy warm water (not much), and work from one edge to the other, squeezing out liquid as you go. The soapy water helps the thing from grabbing straight away, so if it’s not in the right place you have a chance to move it. It evaporates out fairly quickly, but you’ll obviously have to wait longer before it’ll be ready to use. Dont heat them; it’ll make the glue even grippier… the water meothod is what we use to apply vinyl signage to glass, acrylic and other annoying surfaces, and i found it carried over to this application quite well. But TD is right; no matter how good you apply your decals, one good nights racing will see alot of them damaged anyway…:dead:
looking good TD… that’d be easy to see no matter how many people on the track!!
i’m only up to 8 days wait!! I’ve got a long wait ahead of me it seems… will let y’all know when things show up
after what was a rather longish amount of time, 90% of the decals have been added… the rest were done late last night, after this pic was taken. TD; that’d be cool… might do that:p

talking about the Tamiya Minis… would be good to catch up with you again too…
got the painting done on the 1/10 today, then spent about 2 1/2 hours applying the decals… that time woud’ve been quartered had they been pre-cut…
yes, true… weather watch sez it’ll be partly cloudy with nop rain both days… 27 degrees on Saturday too so i’ll be painting the shell that day, but doubt it’ll be dry enough to use Sunday, not sure
sweet… good stuff TD!! Shame your not able to get ther earlier, but registration closes at 7ish… we’re usually there till about 12am or so… sometimes it runs longer, but not much. Bring a jumper if you’re coming, it can get cool out that way later in the evening…

ohh… damn. Mocky? Stu? Pete, i guess you’re in… Dave, same deal i think/hope… Geo; don’t know if you’re gonna see this before Sunday, but we all miss your presence…
ouch is right… i cant wait that long for some of these parts, but guess i’ll have to… i think JK hooked me up with the quickest option but my hopes are dwindling…
Friday nights dude… usually there is only 5-6 Minis racing… including a Aust. (world?) champion… and he’s damn good. Awesome to watch them racing as accidents are rare, and they can gt them back on their wheels without aid of marshalls… what’s happened to your Z mate? Hope it’s nothing too serious…
Kev; if you want to race you’d have to be there by 6:30-7:00pm, would be good to see you guys there!!
this is the case… only minor parts, ie. tyres, inserts, bodies, spur and pinion gears, afew other bits ‘n bobs… usually a few things for sale through the racers too, you’ll see fliers up from time to time… that’s how i got my TC3… with the type of work i’m in at least i should be able to do a half decent job on my painting without too much hassle…
just ordered on Tower Hobbies last week (with the help of another member who’s details are already with them; none of those confirmation hassles!!), now i guess it’s just a waiting game… so how long’ve people waited to recieve stuff?
hey, and i thought there was no pics of me on this site…!!!:p:smiley2:
Quote:bugger me man.and here i waqs thinking that with the 25t pinon i got i shold have a good chance now. lol.
wish i could of gone yesterday but man i aint got enuff hours in a day on a weekend!!!!!
way different ratio you guys’ve got there… TD; should have a 35 tooth in on Sunday, paired up ot a 65 tooth spur… was running a 31 w/ 69t spur… when you guys gonna take us on up Castle Hill? And who’s up this Sunday for the Z’ing? Roooooollcaaaaall!!!!! Waiting for the numbers to justify this tracks presence (and existance, these days…:smiley2:)
and they do have the decals in the bag, i’m certain i saw them in there… Kev; glad i’m only doing one colour, so i dont have 4 hours of masking to look forward to, but i did cut out my body last night (S15 Sylvia) and it took about an hour and a half or so, with the wings and such. Who knows how long the decals are going to take me, they’re not die-cut!! (not that i expected that…) I might have to start a “first time painting body” topic shortly…:smiley2: Coming along nicely though…:approve:

empire; alot of the Sydney guys install, and alot sell parts just about every time we go racing… You in Sydney eh? Cool, hope you can join the madness some time… king pins can be polished back too, way less friction than the stock anodising. Bearings, ball diff and especially h-plates should be your very first hop ups. Friction shock should’nt be too far behind addition of these, then improve handling characteristics as speed improves, ie. shock sets, front springs, etc. Dont get it too fast though, you’ve gotta try out our track…:smiley2::approve:
mate that’s in place… i’m at a loss, but not giving in just yet… all seems better now, if not a little tight…
