Here are some figures going by the Australian Customs website for a mini-96 assuming 0.755 conv rate and shipping at $100 USD….
Customs value (CVAL)$263.00$199 USD (0.755)
Customs duty @ 5 per cent x CVAL $13.15
Postage$132.00Assume $100 USD Shipping (0.755)
Value of Taxable Importation (VoTI)$408.15
GST @ 10 per cent x $408.15 $40.82
Total payable (customs duty + GST) $53.97
There is an upper limit of $50 for Customs duty before it needs to be paid. So if shipping were say $98 USD, or the customs value was reduced by a couple of $ then we don’t have to pay and duty & gst.
I still haven’t had a reply from the manufacturer so have shot off emails to mini-z racer.com and the japanese rc store that I get all my 1:10 rc stuff from…
Cross fingers….hope they do ship…
As you all know they are $199USD from mini-zracer.com. If shipping is around $100 USD then sweet…. just hope customs doesn’t slap there fees on top.
Damn, I got to work this Sunday.

They may do them now just for the new business. I stumbled across a thread on minizracer.com where the were prepared to ship them to NZ in two seperate boxes.
I’ve emailed them to find out shipping costs so hopefully they’ll reply soon.
Failing that, I’ll have to see if I can get one from Japan for the Kyosho labelled ones.
I’ve been wanting to go to that North Ryde bleinheim (sp?) park to try out some of those jumps… As for the OL, it’s tempting for $129, but then if I get that, I’ll probably end up stocking every bloody part for it as well, like I’ve done with the mini-zs…
As for manual lap counting… its a number or colour tape is placed on your antenna and as it goes across the finish line, the computer dude presses a key to register your lap – which will be slower than actual, because lots of ppl are two finger typist and finding the key takes a few milliseconds…
Quote:dgs73 wrote:different type of off-roading though Kev… RC18, MiniT, etc. are out door, OL is more indoor orientated… but of course this you knew… how is the 18 anyway? Why has”nt it had a run down the park yet?

The rc18t hasn’t had a run for months. Ikeep forgetting to bring it in the last minute rushout the door… to meadowbank. Got to writea reminder note next time.
You can get wheel adapters now that let you mount 1/10 touring car wheels on them now. Ithink the same adapter would work for a mini-t.
BTW… if you’re going down to tempe, they don’t run amb transponders but the KO ones which need to be powered by a wire coming from the receiver. In the last few meets, they didn’t bring any spares so it was manual lap counting for ppl that didn’t have one.
Quote:TallduDe wrote:nice pics man.
so you guys still willing to go this sunday to tempe?
ive got the next few sundays off so i will be racing rcs again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! woohoooooooo.
plus i think i fixed my mr02 so all is good now to get my turboed(fully sik) mr01 runing all good.
if overlands are still dirt cheep at hobbyco in 2 weeks ill buy it hopefully ill be out of debt by then…………..
There are heaps of overlanders in stock, I was only noticing the 4 outside the display cabinet. Inside the display cabinet, probably another 10 or so of them.
I won’t be getting one though. I bought the rc18t for offroading, and I’ve probably only used it 4 times in the past 6 months.
From behind it looks like both of you were about the sameoff the line and till stopping at the next set of lights with no one gaining. But I guess it was like only 100 metres or so.
TD, you got lsd in the focus right ?

A.
So when you were at the lights with talldude, did you pull the hand brake up andpress the accelerator ?
I noticed that your rear wheels were spinning but you weren’t going anywhere…
I had a good time as well. It makes a hell of a difference when the track comes out.
Unfortunately, I only brought the fet car and didn’t bring my toolbox, so I was running a 11 tooth pinion on the track. LOL
LOL.Try not to lose any fingers while experimenting – no fingers, no rc.
Yep it’s extremely cold here… Heaters on full blast. I hate to know how cold it is in Melbourne…
Hey thanks for the warning, I just removed all the batts from my shelved bits. The batts showed a touch of corrosion around the terminals.
I’ll bring about 12 witches hats so that we cando some racing rather than ovals.
Nice tutorial !
But why the name Uber ?
Sunday looks good. What time ?
I still have some fireworks left over from when they were legal in NSW. But after all this time, I think they would just crumble in my hand if I were to pick them up.
Damn hey… I would have thought the real deal hackers compromise several other people’s pc’s and launch their attacks from them andsubsequently clean up the audit trail/event logs… so they can’t be traced…all behind anonymous proxies etc….
But to return back to this forum to boast about it and to do it with your own isp account is like putting up your hand and shouting ‘pick me, pick me’.
I’ve haven’t been hooked since the 1 time it screened. But seriously, how many of you watch it for the mind games or for just a bit of cheap t&a.
Hmm… I’ve checked the height of the spoiler and it appears to be at roof height so I’m hoping it’ll be okay. It’s a hard plastic spoiler so it can’t be shortened.
I hope the scrutineering doesn’t go that far…
Other than that, is it bring your own pit table & chair and powerboard ?
I’ve pm’d the head SMA guy with my details for entry. So hopefully all goes well, I’ll be seeing you all next Sunday.

Quote:I was tweaking the Gallery display code today. I made a few changes before adding in the page views code. It started before mods being 0.064s to load. Then with it tidied up with a change to how it talked to the database it went up to 0.105s Chucked in the code for the coutner and it stabilised at 0.109s
This varies depending on where you are in the list of users and so on, but it””s interesting to note that changing the code to make the database interaction more efficient (file is about 30% smaller) and the code neater made it slower!
Yes I””m enjoying the timer.
BTW my PM Inbox is now averaging 20.000s

That’s fantastic. What database backend does this site use ? mysql or access ?

Quote:hey kev when do we have to have entry forms in for the club challeneg?kinda interested in mini class should b fun.
1st of June is the deadline I think. I haven’t got my entry in yet but will submit on Monday.
I’m planning on running 540 class with the Daves…
Does anyone know what scrutineering is like ? I can’t remember if the rear spoiler of my 350z is higher than the roof.

Quote:Best manual timing system I””””””””ve seen ran on one of those handheld PC (technically is was a Psion) with a touch screen. The screen had big buttons for each car that were pressed each tiem the car completed a lap. It then did lap times, lap counts, and all that stuff including beeping like crazy att eh end of the race.Manual timing like that is not as accurate as an electronic system but usually will give results that are fair and most importantly track lap counts which is often the hardest thing.
A.
grrr!!!!
the program i have is the shareware allycat!!!! same as used in 1/10th racing but without transponders, IE!!! you have to press the key each time the car goes past! same as the hand held thingy. plus if we have speakers it will call out all the stuff we get in normal races. it is accually a real good program.
yes that is what a hack is kev!!!!
dont think brushnut is on tonight so the hill it is! hope you make it to the club challenge kev, be good to race together. how much did you pick up the evo for?????
Dave, got the evo 3 for $220… came with original box, manual & parts, plus nip hard springs and a-arms plus 3 sets of foamies and 3 sets of takeoff/sorexes plus slightly used alfa body…
Thought it was a bargain really – they used to cost around $570 2 years ago. Main reason for getting this one is that parts are interchangeable with the tb02 and lighter weight.

Quote:when do you mean Kev? Might be going this Friday, gotta talk to big Dave about it… would””nt mind a bit of a hack *cough cough… waiting…* around their track before the inter club comp gets there. Need some practice up there i think…You’ve answered my question. inter club comp is what I was referring to. Wouldn’t mind having a race with you guys… you guys entering 540 class ? I got to get permission first and if all is okay then submit my entry form.
Btw what’s ‘hack’ in terms of rc. Is that when you use your car to knock off an opponent intentionally ???
Now there’s anidea.. if there is one of those lap counting software available for the old palm pilot, I’ve got to download it.
