wow.. sounds like the OEM’s are good for spare parts, bodies, wheels..etc. maybe even cheaper then getting seprate motors, wheel pack, etc. I am waiting for my first Char-G. can’t wait. I’m just afraid to break stuff as these things seem to be easily broken.

BTW…this is my first post.. Hi all. :smiley15:

David Have you seen a new car called the Z-cars it is on almost the same platform as the bit char-g they are going for about $20 here buy me. The motor and gears work and the spring you need looks like it would work. Hope this will help.

I’ve got links to a couple other forums (including this one!)in the Bit Char-G Links page of The Admiral’s Lair. The only other fairly active message board I’ve come across is the one for Bit Char-G UK. Martini Racing is always exceeding their bandwidth (inaccessible) when I try to jump over there.

the only reason those mats get cheap here is because places give them to you when you buy a chair sometimes. Which isn’t too bad. But, i like the idea of the vinyl flooring better, it would be even more flexible. i’d have to figure out what paint would be the most flexible too though, so it wouldn’t peel off or crack. I just got a new license plate for my car, 86 subaru wr (white rice). It’s really amazing how many people will see you with racing stripes and a big R on your hood and rev when they see you at the light. Like they don’t see that it is a joke and my car really is slow. I guess it’s hard to tell under all those stickers. Stickers make it go faster. er make people look faster anyway, hehe. My plate was bluvipr. bold statement. now it’s gonna be suprslo. i wanted slowass, but that might not go over well with the ancients in my family. I did think about weather stripping for the barriers, but i really wanted to be able to change the track when i wanted to. but if the vinyl is that cheap i’ll just make another track when i want another track to run on. I printed those barrier logos on my hp printer with this sticker paper i found at walmart. You just print and cut em out. it’s pretty cool. it’s like 7 bucks here so if no one can find it in aus i would be able to get you some. i think 15 sheets is 7 bucks. i think. no promises.

Might try peel and stick window/door insulation for guardrails. I was going to try this when I make a track…some day. I need to build a shed right now :smiley6:

If you want to do a roll-up surface, why not just a area rug or small piece ofvinyl flooring. I saw aastro-turf type piece with very low pyle that might work well for ~$10. You could paintit to give an even better surface.

Love the idea of a “play and stash” surface! You could made 100 of them and still have room in your car for a carton of beer!

Only problem in Oz is the cost of those mats. I just phoned Officeworks and the CHEAPEST mat they have is AUD69.95 (~USD34.00) :smiley3:

I think that’s what I stil don’t have one under my chair at home. Hehehehe…..

Hit me with some pix when you’ve done the track. Really looking forward to this one!

Well, here in Australia we’re eagerly waiting to see what our local distributor will be selling them for(rebadged as “Compact Char-G”).

Will let you know the washup. With the woes of the Australian dollar against other currencies, you might save a BOMB by buying straight from a shop down here! :smiley3:

    Cheers

actually, tower hobbies and hobbico are kinda like the same thing. i have other friends in the rc business here and in just as hobbyists and they all get their hobbico stuff right from tower hobbies. i know that doesn’t mean tower actually makes hobbico stuff, but they seem to be the place to get it. tower hobbies has a website but i don’t know about their shipping to outside US. I have ordered a lot of stuff from them but the microsizers don’t look like a good deal. Hopefully the bit char g will make it to k marts, wal marts, targets, and cereal boxes in the months to come in the US. other stuff that caught on in japan and austrailia swept the US pretty hard. just not till after it happened everywhere else.

Dave – Try emailing the online retailers in the U.S. (like Sigma Automotive) and see if they have any parts or busted Bit Char-Gs you can salvage that from.

    Hia Aaron,

In the spirit of constructive feedback, I’ve personally deleted all temporary internet files and site history, as well as using your “delete cookie” link, logged back in and although I have a combination of closed and open envelopes, they do not want to seem to change, regardless of whats been read. Once again, if I’m the only one, I’ll deal with it, if your getting it from others, happy to continue giving the feedback.

On a positive note . . . the site is terrific and full credit for getting it up and keeping it up !

Ok well i have just finished sanding it completely and those pics should be posted pretty soon hopefully and i will paint it most like some sort of blue tommorrow and look for some cool decals to put on it. I’m also gonna keep the rear wing and it will also stay black. I am most likely gonna paint it all blue, with black out headlights and taillights, then possibly a black hood to represent a spoon or carbon fiber hood like the racers, then i will paint the windsheild black and i will be done! I will keep you guys posted. Dave

I have never seen any lancer cabriolet nor heard of it. I doubt they will ever make it but if they do, then my car is one hell of a blueprint :). Actually the only mitsubishi that is convertible is the eclipse spiders, but there is always possibility. Later, Dave

Wh000hoo! Nice one, Dave. Thanks for sharing that with us. Is the rear wing going to stay/go?

BTW – do Mitsubishi *make* a Lancer Cabriolet? Certainly not sold in Australia, but based on the success of the Holden (Vauxhall/Opel) Astra Convertible ( refer this page at Holden) it could be a hit on the Aussie market one day.

Of course…. it could be just a creative expression by Dave, too 😉
