I like the way the rear tires stick out from the body (AE86). Very cool looking AE86. Were the pull-back wheels from one of those bit ghar-g pull back cars?

I screwed up my steering spring, and instead of buying a replacement I tried making one, and quickly found that impossible and all the alternative sources for a replacement spring provided too much stiffness and thus no turning at all.
I had a epiphany and tried using an orthodontic elastic band (rubber band from braces) and put it in the same place the spring goes but instead it attaches around the screw column at the front of the battery/pcb section instead of the little white column.
This increased turning radius (widened turns) but it made the car able to turn and immediately straighten again properly.:approve:

The road is painted with a standard paint (anthracite) and a brush. We didn?t use primer, but some elements required two layers of color. The grip is ok and you can really feel a difference between hard and soft tires.
And the grass? Well, first of all we glued wrinkled napkins to the ground and painted it dark green. Then we sprayed two different shades of green (a grass-like green and a yellowish green) from an about 45? angle onto the wet paint. By doing this, you still keep the dark green shadows behind the wrinkles, and get different light green highlights on top of the wrinkles.
We?re currently workling on two new elements, including a lot of making-of pictures, that should clarify the paint steps a bit.Greetings!

Spanky yes it depends on the material but since I was talking about bit bodies I said always from outside…
And for candy apple just a hint…paint it over a base coat of the best silver paint you can find!

GT-ahh I’m not sure how correct is the thing about top speed you mentioned…I thnik that how heavy a wheel isn’t important about top speed but only for accel. not sure but…

Lets see…
Smaller wheel diameter means better acceleration and smaller top speed.
Heavier wheel means less acceleration.
How wide the wheels are doesn’t really matters in a smooth surface.
But all that in theory beacause:
The car is so small and light and accelerates and reach top speed too fast to see this changes clearly…
But with the pullback wheels the car is faster for one simple reason!
Without them the car can’t find traction spinning in every start(and loosing control some times) with them finds traction which means that it’s faster cause no time lost i spinning…………..
So now everyone with a powerfull bit install pullback wheels at least in the back!

Modifying the spring is probably a better bet. Adding a second or third spring might help. Or perhaps making a stiffer onw.
The risk with modifying the coils is that they may unravel all together or the might end up slightly different sizes which would make steering uneven.
