word to the bird! i’ll get some pics as soon as i can. i’m painting the porche body for fun so hopefully that will be done by the time i get snapping. i rilly should buy a digi cam instead of waiting to borrow someone else’s!
as for the servo madness, turns out the vr was a little dirty or making a poor contact. a little oil solved my dilemma, if i had some crc i woulda used that. steady as a rock now!:D:8ball:

damn man, what u driving it into walls?

    funny you should say that……:dead:
had a spectacular crash the other day! fullspeed into a chair! wound up breaking the steering bulkhead and the h plate snapped clean off! but i’ve replaced all the busted bits and now that the steering is steady again it’s a killer! there’s barely any i waver left on it, ph2t was correct with his prediction that soon the only stock part will be the rx:smiley2: so far i’ve installed:

    cambered knuckles
    bb’s
kyosho clear chassis and front end
    nimh batts
    x speed motor
    delrin 9t pinion
real good diff (i forget what brand…. jamie?)
    cf h plate
    yeah racing crystals
    pretty purple wheelnuts

so i dunno whether to call it an i z or a wanna z! some may scoff at the fact that i’ve bought a lotta kyosho and aftermarket stuff to get it like this, but it was fun outta the box anyway and i got my foot in the door for only $25usd! so jam it up yer tailpipe:8ball:

eeeyup!:approve: i hads me a breakthrough! i tried the paper, caps across the terminals, replaced the wires. but the problem was in the variable resistor in the servo. it musta got a little dirty cos after a little bit of teflon oil on the contact she’s steady as a rock again!:smiley16: i only used the oil as i don’t have any crc or wd40 around (sacriledge!!!!) if it stuffs up again i’ll use crc to flush it out. big thank you to ken for his invaluable help!:smiley2::8ball:

from what i’ve learned about batteries, i look at them like this:

nicad = a grouse aussie v8, lotsa balls, take a licking, low maintenance and faily reliable.

nimh = a finely tuned aussie v8, excellent power output, relatively hardy but need some tlc to keep them running true.

lipol/lion = an f1 racer, total performance, high power output, but must be properly maitnained:8ball:

i tried that, and i’ve got fresh batts all round. jamie suggested adding capacitors to the servo motor like a drive motor. this is after all an i waver, but it was fine in the first few days:8ball:

well i’ve got bearings and cambered knuckles on the way and jamie kulhanek is gonna hook me up with a better diff and a 9t pinion. i’d like to get wider wheels and alloy up the front end a little. as for the body, working on these should be a breeze after fiddling around with bit shells! i plan on grinding it down slowly on any surface it happens to be skidding along at the time! and then i’m gonna alloy blah blah blah motor blah blah blah shocks……….

    update:

just dropped an x speed motor with a 9t pinion in this baby and it absolutely flies now!!:p (:smiley2: ph2t!!)definately has more than twice the speed and torque than when i pulled it outta the box!!:pso just for a laugh here’s my damage list to date!

porsche body got no more mirrors or spoiler
lancer body plenty scratched up, busted chassis mounts
chassis broken at the body mount
    broken knuckle

i’m working on busting up the rest soon! super glue seems to be my best friend at the moment:D:8ball:

V+ wire goes to V+ on the pcb and V- goes to GND on the pcb:8ball:

i used to dj and produce a few tracks and wanted a name that didn’t start with “dj” or something equally as predictable. so i figured i’d settle on something that would stick in people’s minds. you don’t really forget a guy who introduces himself as betty.k now do ya?!!:D:8ball:

ok hachi, i got some stuff that may help. here’s a biff with labelled wires

it’s important to observe the polarity of the V + and V- wires. but the gate and motor wires can go either way. just test to see if forward and reverse is correct with a tx. here’s a pic of a tomy pcb with the gate pins marked with yellow dots
    gates.jpg
you need to completely remove the transistors that have the gate pins marked. good luck!
the pics are here if they get X‘ed http://www.geocities.com/bettyksprivatestash/biff.html?1084748802175:8ball:

what panda said, and more!!!:p as a total rc newbie i love the minis, they’re simple to drive for beginners but certainly not lacking in the performance department! i’m sure they can be made faster, better, gooder, but as panda says, hop ups mean nuthin. if i was handed a $2000 1:10 and panda given a $200 tandy car and we raced, i’d be eating his dust the whole way:D

and yeah panda, keep us posted about the offroad action, i’d love to see some of those babies in the flesh, eating dirt!

and i don’t usually notice things like this, but you got a nice even 2000 posts! woohoo:8ball:

charge man, sorry if we sound like a bunch of sceptics but that’s because we are. and we’re mostly lazy, we’re lucky if we shoot off the emails we’re supposed to send let alone send another to a maybe. my personal opinion is that it’s not good enough to say you’ve pulled off a useful mod without even trying to explain how to do it let alone posting a pic in the millions of free web galleries available. ausmicro even has a place where you can set up your own personal gallery, fo’ free! basically you have no excuses for not even trying to tell us how this mod is done. you got a digi cam i assume, so post dem damn pics!!!!:8ball:

hiya ken!:smiley2: welcome to tha hood! we actually had a meet up today with some mini z’s and other electric toys at a track in templestowe. i’m expecting an i waver soon and i know there are at least 4 of us keen to start up a regular melbourne 1:28 race scene. so keep an eye out for the next one, likely to be soon considering how much fun we had today without even really having a race!:p hope to see you there:8ball:

i managed to pull off a 1m 7s lap in my ferrari bit! leon nearly fell asleep waiting to stop the stopwatch. highlight of the day is definately the hour of on board cam footage we got. there’s mad force cam, mrs4 cam, bashem buggy cam and panda cam! the vid is set to sweep the oscars for best action pic ever!:D:8ball:

hiya danny! i don’t think you want to space the fets, but a little bit of glue to hold them together while soldering is a good idea. and if the nelly looks too mean then jamie kulhanek (creator of the 84kph miniz) can do a regular fet mod for you, or micro amps can fet mod anything in his sleep!:8ball:
