hey hey… nah, its pretty grippy surface, same stuff as the rcp/Kyosho tracks. Been fiddling around of late with differing tyres and spring rates, but we can’t quite get them to drift like the videos we’ve all seen… as for my AWD, it’s not that full-on… just bearings, stronger chassis (the blue and grey one), titanium shaft, Kyosho CVDs, spring sets, PN Speedy AWD motor, top plates and motor heat sink, and I think Iwaver alloy rims, not sure bout the make. 1.5mm camber, 1.5mm toe-in and 1.5mm lowered. All in all though, mine would’nt be that much quicker than yours… but yours would be quicker than all my mates Zs, being they all have 01s and 02s!! (Pete does have an AWD as well though.) Any time you’re up for a run give one of us a buzz, we’re always keen!!! Dave

had mine for a while now, damn these things are too much fun!! have’nt done too much yet, just bearings, threaded axles w/ alloy wheel nuts all round, and the LiPo. Now THAT makes a difference… spare tie rods can be cut from the little cable ties that tend to come with speed controllers. The hubs are pretty strong, but not indestructable (a mate and i had an accidental head-on; i broke a rear hub, he, a front tie rod – i expected way worse damage for the speeds we were doing!) Iplan on swapping out the front and rear hubs and the knucles with alloy. Anyone got any opinions on the oil shocks available? Good ones, crap ones, experiences? Looking to get some soon…

yea, we got some pretty noisy cars but they do the job… Kev; making the track wider was necessary; even now with over 4 cars it gets pretty crowded! The track is alot bigger now, with views to making it larger again! Space is surely going to be an issue again…

if it as smooth as pete sez, then soft rubber will just build up dust very quickly, and that wont help you at all… foam in soft or medium would be best… just try a few options and see!!!

one of these days i’llhave to put my track together… i’ve got plenty of time now so I guess I have no excuse!! Pete; I get round you most of the time (and in front up the inside… lol), but occasionally wind up doing the same thing as TD… and you wind up on your side.

firstly, welcome aussie_minz! Myself, i’d suggest medium Gandini’s on all four corners… and a ball diff is extremely helpful in the minute adjustments that can be attained. Like petewah sez, it’s a matter of tuning and testing till you get the setup you like. Spring sets and the 3 differing h plates (they come in a 3 pack…)shouldbe a good place to start. Alloy rims are another way of gaining extra stability, but at the cost of extra weight, and greater rotating mass.

hey hey… I happen to have both of these two, they are bothlight up cars(headlight, taillight… HG refers to the high-grade leds i think maybe?), the difference you arenoy mentioningis either lights or fornt wheels turning left or right. (this does NOT effect steering in the slightest, as the front wheels are plastic, not rubber, andthere are two motors in these things, one in each rear wheel, and it steers like a tank ie. to turn left, the left wheel will spin slower than the right…) I dont mind these little cars, bought em both from Japan a while ago. They are slow to charge (about 20 mins), runtime is approx 15 mins (???), and my main gripe, if the IR unit on the controller is not pointing straight at the car, it aint gonna go so good. Add to this the fact that they don’t work in direct sunlight (so no outdoors at all), theycannot be hopped up,and they are hard to turn at times (at speed; i’ll get to that!!). Upsides; they havee two speeds (fast and holy s**t!!!), detail is incredible for something thats less than the length of a Bit Char-G, but the ‘super deformed’ styling might put some off. Quality of unit, car and even packaging is A1, but you will need an english version of the instructions, unless you know someone (or you yourself are) fluent in Japanese! All up, enjoy. These things are great,I just need to find someone who’ll do a battery swap in mine, I cant bring myslf to open them up!

here we are, 6 weeks later… been a while since the Sydney crew had anything to say, so here we go… fair number of Z racers yesterday, TD, peteWah, MM, big Dave, Chris (introduced to mini z last week, he bought an OL yesterday…) and myself. Minor size track, only 12 squares, making up a medium L shape, due to lack of room in lounge room. Interesting with OLs on the track at the same time as racers, suddenly there’s alot less driving room, but it’s all part of the fun. Pics will be added in the next couple of days, hopefully including Pete’s tail slides with his OL… pulling it off over most of the track in the end he was… overall, mad day, and no sun burn due to being indoors! Big cheers to big Dave too for manning the tongs last night!! And cheers to everyone who dropped by, it’ll be happening again this Sunday!!!xp1700.gif

i think they locked him in the cupboard for saying it was AWD when it clearly was’nt… lol As far as I can see, the tyres are the difference between grip and drift…

but will it be geared down? Or will he say that track is too narrow again (meaning over-geared…)? We’ll have to see… and yes, will be careful, but you too… not that there was any damage the last few nights… only the occaisional sickening thud that did nothing to the shells… way less damage than a gung-ho run outdoors anyway…

been a while since this was active… time to breath some life ino it. ..After much evening racing (awesome stuff, peteWah!!! You’re getting good… we gotta avoid those late races however; i’m tired as…sleep.gifno more racing after midnight!!!), have discovered that even with a width of 580mm track, there is more than enough room for three Zs… we even managed to take the same corners at the same time… hard, but pulled off a couple of times… guess what i’m doing tonight!! Hope the racer can be fixed Pete, though the OL is interesting to race against… to say the least…
