Ill give u guys a tip for higher speed. Dont use alkaline batteries, use NiMH rechargeable batteries, especially the energizer type made in JAPAN (not the mexican ones). These can handle a higher current load and will make upto 40% difference in the top speed.

Im too scared untill i learn a bit more about it, id hate to blow up my mini z, and besides, i think its got too much torque as it is, i think im guna go the 13 t hpi gear to try and reduce the torque.

Okay, if you drop a x speed motor into a palm runner it will have very little power. This is because the palm runner runs on 2 cells, and the mini z runs on four cells, so it would have less than half the power that a mini z with x speed would have.

Speed, about 10km/h i think, dont eeven think about 60km/h, not even mini z’s like this sort of speed.

A mini z goes about 20km/h out of the box.

There are literally thousand of hopups for mini z’s.

The palm runner is like a giant bit char-g, and the mini z is more like a bigger r/c in the nature that it has fully proportional control.

I think a bit with an extra 6 grams of weight running off one cell would be a bit slow.

For an extra cost i can include a black heatsink, a 2.6 motor and a set of suspension springs installed.

I guess the best thing about alloys is they can accomodate wider tyres, and they look good too.

Remember, a electric motor has linear torque vs rpm curve. Unlike the logarithymic curve of a piston engine. So if the motor is revving harder, its putting out more power than before.

panda and ph2t, do you reckon the steel sink saps tranfered current to the motor via the casing? could an aluminium one eliminate the electrification of the metal parts in contact causing minute e.m. interference?

    Steel? Or is it Copper…?

This reminds me of a previous thread with
Mr Lancer Evo (bless his missing soul).

I remember that thread like it was yesterday, we all know the best conductor is diamond 🙂

For about the same cost of a 3.8 motor

I just bought some 3.8 motors for USD $5 ea
So your saying you will do a dual bat bit mod and supply a charger for US$5?? Hmmmm doubt it.

My guess is one of those 3.6v 40mAh batts and a battery box connected to your own charger base, thats why the controller is required.

    :)uA

Stop being a smartass 😉 jk a good 3.8 is around 28 big ones.

ph2t and Micro_Amps, im not as stupid as you might think o:, i do know a little about electronics, as i am doing a pre t electronics course atm, i realise the problems with using the tx as a charger etc.

Pcain, barrelll and jazza thanks for the positive feedback 🙂

BTW Pcain, my latest ones are even better quality than the one i did for you (practice makes perfect).

All those ppl outside of aussie, sorry but its just too difficult organising payment and postage etc.

ph2t you are pretty much right.

I am also considering a front spring suspension mod to be an option.

Yes you would send it to me, if you want a reference of my workmanship ask barrelll or pcain.

It is very simple, just post if off, do a transaction (online makes it easy), and in a week or less you will have it back. You will need to send your car and transmitter so it can be modified. A charger is also provided for the car.

Another option is for you to send your own pair of batteries to have installed.

The car is disassembled, the chassis is machined out, the pcb cover is modified, two batteries are added (NiMH) and the car is tested on a speed checker before being sent back.

A 3 week warranty applies on used cars, however, if you send a brand new car still in its package you will have a 2 month warranty against workmanship.

An instruction manual is included for operation.

It’s because the heatsink has nothing to do with the circuitry, the current enters the motor through the tabs under the motor, and on the endbell, I think the heatsink thing is a negligible, as the motor’s case would have a larger area (if ya rolled it out) than a heatsink, to me its just a clip that holds the motor in, anyway, even with a dual cell mod the motor barely gets warm anyway.

    Surf……

Stock mini Z is about 20 km/h which is a scale speed of about 580km/h. It is quite fast and powerful.
I think mini z’s have more options than any other car, plus there is dozens of different hopup brands.
The cheapes mini Z you will find is from http://www.tradingdirect.com.au for $220, so 150 for a hopped up car is good.
    the mini z is 1/28.
You cant compare a 1/28 and a 1/10, a completely different kettle of fish.

For the internal battery mod you don’t need to stretch it.
