Some of the different frequencies will control each other but usually they have to be very close to the controller. Car and controller almost touching aerials, that close.
The frequency becomes irrelevant because the signal from the controller overwhelms the receiver circuit of the different frequency car, and the car starts to move.
Its just rf interference.
:)uACome to think of it, it is probably the American legal eagles from Hobbico complaining about Tomy stuff being sold in their neighbourhood, and thats where the copyright issue comes from.
Just guessing on this one tho.
I have bought via ebay previously and the sellers that I bought from are no longer there. I emailed one of the sellers to buy some more booster cars (for supplying to people fet modded) and they are still selling, just not on ebay. Its just a matter of dealing direct with them now. I *think* if you go through the Australian ebay site to sell BCGs, you wont have problems, but time will tell. You can select to sell internationally from any ebay site. Hopefully the word will spread amongst the sellers that registering on a different ebay site will get them up and selling again.
:sad:uAYeh, I know Radio Shack sells them, but do they manufacture them

:)uAThe hot tuners honda civic looks like it might even be the right size to go straight on a BCG chassis too.
Yeh shypes, I got my dubs at toys r us too.
:)uAotp, who does make the ZZs. The qualiy looks exactly the same as the Tomy stuff.

:)uAph2t the single cell fet modded steering modded car I have does have 2 steering springs, and it runs dead straight and isnt phased by minor grooves in the floor either so it is an improvement. The coils have trouble pushing against the springs when the wheels are off the ground, but when it is running on the floor is steers just like normal. The main difference is that it holds a straight line better.
You can take out the steering spring and tighten the loop a little so the spring is stronger. Or bend the ‘legs’ of the spring so it pushes harder.
GT-ahhs idea of winding lower resistance steering coils would be the go, I have seen an instruction on the net somewhere but I havent tried it yet.
You could then set them up to be as strong as you like.
:)uATrackman, if it runs ok on the charger then the car is ok, the only problem is the battery.
Somehow it is not connected properly.
I’m with ph2t on this one, double check that the battery is touching the contacts properly and that the positive (+) end is toward the right when the front of the car is pointing away from you.
:)uARe steering improvement, an N channel FET replacement of the steering transistors makes the steering stronger.

ph2t, my guess is that one of two things will happen……
1. The steering magnet will be attracted to the steel center in the steering magnet and will lock on. and / or…2. when the metal in the center of the steering coil becomes magnetised, it will hold residual magnetism and cause the steering to lock on in one direction or the other.
(Sorry, for being such a wet blanket):sad:The rare earth magnet used for the steering in these things is so sensitive, that the steering coils need to be ferrous free in order for the steering magnet to be able to return to the center after power to the steering coil is turned off.
Good idea though, keep them coming.
:)uAShibby ZipZaps are excellent. I dont own one but have done some fet mods to them for (USA) people and I cant speak highly enough of them.
Same quality as the Tomy cars (I think they are even made by Tomy?) with a slightly longer chassis.
They handle well, being longer, and of course they have more room inside for cell mods too.
One of these days, I gotta get me one of these.:)uA

Well, I bought the HRT version of this car. I thought the solid plastic shells of the ute and the HSV GTS cars lacked a bit in the good looks depatment, at least the HRT has all the signage and stickers on it (see Aarons pic earlier in this thread)
Interesting idea, it has a removable battery. Which is great because the battery in mine was DEAD, and I dont mean just flat, I mean DEAD. It was leaking and wouldnt hold a charge. Quick change to a spare 150mAH cell and I was going again. The steering gearing uses a motor to push a pin left or right. It holds power on the steering motor while you are turning. Seems to do the job adequately (? spelling) but could probably do with a stronger steering return spring. The car internals are much the same as BCG or clone. The control chipset is Rx2c/Tx2c and can be controlled by a BCG controller but left/right is reversed and forward/backwards is also reversed. A small mod to change both motor wires in the car will see it running on a BCG controller no problem.
:)uAAaron and Derek, good on you for postponing it if you felt it was a no go. The last thing people want is a half ar$ed, hastily organised meeting that they come away from feeling dissapointed.
Good to see you making the decisions that will ultimately improve the quality of the meet when it does happen.
:)uAYeh, no drama Jamie. Always quick (for a 56 anyway) and they have just dropped timeout limits so you can stay onn forever. Max cost permonth goes up to about $23, but that is equivalent to unlimited time and downloads, so its not too bad. 10M of webspace thrown in as well.

I’ve seen those ‘micro RC’ cars (not the hsv ones the other ones) on ebay for about 5 bucks. And the maloo wheels, well they do look a bit ‘hot wheels’ dont they.
A set of dub city wheels would look hot on the hsv cars.
:)uAThats it! I’m hitting Kmart tomorrow to see if they have them in Melbourne.
:)uANo probs perri, keep in touch.
Barto, dodo craps all over my previous 56k isp. Very happy.
:)uAGood pics Aaron. Motor driven steering, excellent, just like the puchi maru and the Tomy club cars. There’s 2 H-bridges on that pcb, one for the drive motor and one for the steering motor.
If the steering isnt propo. then you should find it is gentler than the ‘snap’ left and right of the BCGs.
I gotta get me one of those.
Straight onto the autopsy table, hehehe.
:)uAPerri I tested a couple of these motors up against a couple of the JP 3.8s on the speed checker.
The white ones keep up with the JP 3.8s so they ARE 3.8s, but they do lack a little torque when on the ground, in a standard car that is.
They scream in a fet modded car, actually ran a bit better than the JP3.8s, but I think my JPs may be a little tired because I give em hell.
Tested 4 of each…..
Single cell standard car
White 3.8 and JP 3.8 both around 7.0 to 7.4 km/h
Single cell fet car.
White 3.8s 8.0 to 8.5 km/h, JP3.8s 7.8 to 8.2km/h
The JP motors have been bullet proof for me in the past tho. I doubt these cheaper white 3.8s will take the punishment I gave the JPs, but time will tell.
Hope this helps.
:)uAhehe, send it to me Barto, I’ll fix it for you.
Welcome Jinxsta and son, good to have you on board.
:)uAPerri, I have some of those 3.8s with the white end cap and the tiny contact (yes from ebay). I’ll test them up against the jap perf 3.8 and a few others and I’ll post the results here. Check in a day or so.
