I think you can get a metal of some sort, center drive shaft that has a metal cog on the front end and you can get metal cogs for the rear end too but yeah I think I’ve seen any alloy spurs yet though !!!

    @ Dave,

Yeah Buddy, From my experience It’s way harder on the car when drifting !!!

I don’t know if it’s from the big revs with no traction or what but my car definitely wears much faster when I’m drifting !!!

When my car was stock bar the AWD X-speed motor/bb can and I only raced it. It had little to no wear at all on the drive chain parts after countless hours of driving !!!

But with this same setup bar it had Kyosho drift tires, even on the same track layout, but now drifting of cause !! The wear was noticeable after just a few packs !!!

IE: My standard front drive shafts now had massive play and on the rear ones, the two half’s (where the plastic joins the metal) were now spinning separately from each other, so I had very little drive to the rear wheels !!, I also noticed way more wear and play in the diff drive cups and also to the diff drive cogs and the center shaft drive cogs !!!

This made me think. OK, it’s just that they were border line before I started drifting… So I replaced the entire drive line with alloy stuff, bar the diffs, I replaced them with just standard Kyosho ones and Starting drifting again, But after a very short time it started to wear both the alloy drive cups and diffs out again… So I’m now thinking it’s the grip, no grip at big revs thats just to hard on them !!!..

So you could say that almost the entire drive chain wore out in just a few packs !!!!

I’ve replaced the drive cups yet again as the wear to them was creating to much play !! but I haven’t replaced the diffs yet, so I’ve pretty much stopped drifting till I get the alloy ones to see if it’s the plastic that is twisting or warping that makes diffs ware out so quickly !!! I don’t know what to do about the drive cups !!!

    Anyway,

Since I stopped drifting the diffs seemed to be holding up, that was until I put the Red Back in !!!… I haven’t drifted at all with the Red Back, but the extra punch it has created has completely stuffed the warn out rear diff, it slips like mad now !!! LOL … The front is looking a little messy also !!!

So till I get the alloy ball diffs My AWD is pretty much useless !!! but once I do get them I will test it out again and see if it’s any better or if it just passes the damage off on to something else !!!!

I’d hate to see how quickly the standard parts would wear out with my motor and the Red Back installed !!! LOL …. I think it’s going to be bad enough with the alloy parts as it is !!!

I’d be interested in what others have to say also !!!!

Let me assure you guys !!! Drifting these things wares them out real quick !!!!

It puts alot of load on the entire drive chain !!

I’ve had to replace the whole lot just from drifting …. I now need new diffs again !!! Will buy alloy ball diffs this time and see how they go !!!..

I’ll post my setup soon with some pics…

I’ve ordered the servo alloy parts(holder and saver)and an alloy tierod, because the plstic one is very “bendable” lol

I’ve noticed that runnin on my pavement it’s very difficult to control, maybe I’ll get one ball diff, but surely a lot of interferences in driving is due to my tiles…

Yeah, I saw that but TH’s only allows you to pay via credit card !!! and as I dont have one I cant pay them !!! They really should have PayPal !! it makes things so much easier !!

I used a modeling knife to scrape the green coating off !! And yeah it will work just soldering the wire across the 4 pads but it is better to create the larger pad by scrapeing it as it’s a larger contact area !!!

Yeah a mate of mine got one of these a while back !!!

It is an 02M chassis !! but it was the first release they put out and
it was only for a very short time then they started the 02M with the FM
tx and rx !! which we still haven’t seen available yet !!! and you have to watch out for the front end on the old 02M’s cause there very weak and the screw holes flog out real easy !! My mates one is just a shelf queen till
the alloy parts are widely available to try and strengthen it up !!!

They did how ever handle well and have an awesome turning circle !!!!!

    STEP 10:
Once your happy it’s all working it’s time to mod te PCB cover !!

All I did was cut a hole in where the spider will stick out through it !!! refer to the pic called “Modded Cover” I also removed the little piece of plastic between the + and – on the cover too !!! just keep trimming till it fits perfectly !!!

Well thats it !! it’s 4 O’clock in the morning and time for bed

Hope the walk through helps with your installs and that the installation went well !!

    TA dude !

It’s got Kyosho AWD X-Speed guts installed in a BB case !!

With 1000mAh Sanyo’s and running 19/29 gearing it now has that much
punch that within two runs it’s munched my rear drive gear (the one that
drives the rear diff) so with that gear slipping I only got a 24k read out on
the TSC but as we all know the AWD’s don’t read right on the TSC’s anyway !!!

It’s easily as fast as my MR01 ! With the same sanyo’s in it the MR01
reads 51k’s and sometimes even 52 !! so yeah around that is closer to
the top speed of my AWD !!

And with the handling of the AWD it makes for a real fun car to drive !!!

    mmm
1, ok I’ll ask him if he has had it open !!!

3, yeah what Betty.k said but i think you have that now sorted !!!

4, would not have a clue what that box does !!!

I had some some glitching probs in my last house which had a corrugated iron roof on the shed !! but not all the time !! another thing you dont have a UHF in the shed do you !!! cause they well screw with ya car big time !!!

Just as a test !!! get someone to hold ya car and go 20m or so away from them with ya antenna all the way up on the TX and see if the car go’s hay wire with you not touching any of the controls !! then do some throttle and so if it go’s hay wire !!

OK sorry for the late reply !!!

    A few things !!!

1, Which was the part that needed soldering ?? Cause as far as I know I’m the only one that has put an iron near it !! But I will ask the guy you got it off to see if he did anything!!!

2, Now that you say that the tops of the fet are sanded back I remember what they FET’s are !!! I got these FET’s from 3 Iwaver boards that some mates got at the same time and either put FET’s stacks on or external turbos on so as I did all the work I kept there original FET’s and put the stack in my (at the time) MR02 !! Iwaver sand the numbers off the top of there fets or at least you use to !!!

3, I remember from when it was listed on ebay that there doesn’t look like there is any of the little orange cap things on the motor !!!! There should be 2! This will more then likely be why your not getting very good rang !!!

4, The little black box damage was done by me !! :gatlin: (well thats if he hasn’t done anything to it !!) I didn’t have a very fine solder tip for my iron at the time !! But I assure you it still worked perfect !! Like I said I’m sure it will be the little caps for the motor that is causing your problem !!

5, The crystal problem, should have been solved be what Betty.K said !! Just to add to that, check that the legs don’t move in the bottom of the crystal if they do then the crystal will need replacing !!!

    Hope this info helps !!!
