I Think the AWD is the best Mini-Z going, Now anyway!! You gota love AWD 😀
and this is why I voted for it !! 😉

Before the AWD I think the MR01 was the best !! I built my MR01 completely from hop up parts..
It may have cost me a s#!t load but it was worth it !!! everyone that has had a go, cant
beleave how good it is and they normally dont want to give the TX back !!:topstuff:

    Heres a pic of the chassis…. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b362/RCS2DIE4/My%20Hopup%20MR01/abovepic.jpg

I had an MR02 that I spent a fair bit of cash on tring to get it sorted, but I could never get it
anything like my MR01, so I sold it :rocket: which sux really as it had a Atomic VDS body
on it which was painted in $100 worth of colour change paint !!! (Dumb ass I know, but it looked SWEEET !!!)

    Anyway GO THE AWD’s !!!

Hmmm, I’d love to give this a go !!!!

I have enough junk layin around to build a rollin chassis, a spare ball diff, and a PN motor mount (if the motor fits!!)

I also have a micro servo driver setup that I use to use in my Pro Z and I have two tiny receivers from some Mini X’s that i’ve had.. All I need is the brushless setup !!!

MERC-BLUE !! Would you consider selling/swapping your Brushless ESC and motor ???

    Hey 12A RX2,

Two things !!! (One off topic)

1, If you haven’t already! (and I assume you haven’t) Put a bearing kit
through it !! It will fix most of your probs … The monster I had did the
same thing. I put bearings in it and it was perfect !!! I got bord waiting for
the front wheels to stop spinning after I spun them !!! hehe

2, I see your a rota head hay !! Same here, Although it’s been about 4 years
since I’ve owned one !!! I made a promise to myself when I sold my last one
that I would not buy another till I could get a S6 RX7 (I’m still
    waiting!!) … :smiley7: My last rota was a s1 RX2 sedan with a 12A turbo
in it which I built from a bare shell !!! It was a sad day the day it
    went !!! 🙁

Here’s a pic of it how I got it !!! and yeah thats an RX3 coupe in the back
    ground. (look close!!)
    http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b362/RCS2DIE4/My%20RX2/whenIgotit.jpg

And after about 6 months of hard labour !!! (still not 100% complete in this pic! about 98%)
    http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b362/RCS2DIE4/My%20RX2/Side.jpg
hmm I’ll have to rescan that pic in one day !!!

Hay also, I have a set of plates for sale for any 12A powered car !!! they
say 12A spelt TWLV A there black on yellow plates !!! They never went on
the car either so there in brand new condition !!! PM us if ya interested !!!

    Hey Kerosene,

I’ve attached a diagram I drew up a while back for this exact thing !!!

The first two PCB’s are for the very first Iwaver PCB’s which have all four wires along the front of the board !!
The next two are for the next revision of the PCB’s with the motor wires at the front and the POT wires at the side !!!!
The only two wires you have to change are the POT wires at the POT end… The diagram will show you how to wire it !!!

    Hope it helps :smiley9:

The Grey chassis with the blue add on’s, is alot stronger the any of the other chassis’s hands down !!!

I’ve hit the same obsticle in the garage (goin outside the track!) with the original, a clear blue and the Grey/Blue chassis and the G/B one is the only one still going !!! infact the G/B one doesn’t even have a single crack in it where the others just shattered !!!!

I recommend the Grey/Blue chassis if you want it to last !! and I also think it’s the best lookin one too, Bonus !!

Thanks for the replies guys !!!

I will be going with the Nano as I will be upgrading most parts anyway !!!

And I know the nano/iwaver TX’s aren’t the sickest but they definitely look a damn sight better then half8 one does !!!

Aaron !! Will the ESC/Receiver box fit turned 90 degres as I would like to fit a fake nitro head to the heat sink like the Half8 has ??

    Thanks Guys !!!! :topstuff:

So Atomic it is !!! The Kyosho will of cause be the best quality but there prices are just to damn expansive !!

I’m the same, just cant seem to get the nak of one ways !!! I like to brake late in the corner and doing so makes the ass end go round almost every time (1/10)….:rocket:

I haven’t been racing my Z’s lately, been converting my 1:1 to turbo :smiley4: in the garage so the tracks out of order !!! but in the time it’s been, there has been a few things releast that are a must, so ill have to start looking around for the best prices and place some orders…

    Thanks again !!!

I have a highly modified M18 if you interested in it !!! I have only used it a few times !!!! There’s a post about it in this section, just look for a post started by me about my M18 !!! Just PM us if interested…. I much prefer the M18 but of cause it’s always a personal taste thing. I admit, I have not used either of them for drifting only racing on an indoor track !!

    Hey Ph2t,

I got one of the (not listed as!!) pre-release kits from RCMart back in the day !! back when RCmart were still DINBALL.. They sold some to the public which I later found out from Express they should never have done !!!

The pre-release was the biggest load of S#@T I’ve ever seen !!! nothing lined up, nothing meshed, the diff’s would not differential and the front end was also very bad, cause if you dialed in any camber or the castor, the drive cups at the wheel end hits the ball screws on the swing arms !!!!! I was getting about 3 min runs with it and it was very slow !! it was 4 cell then, I think the chassis is now for 5 cell packs!!!

It cost me $200 for chassis, cover and radio (no TX) !! I was not happy !!! and neither DINBALL (rcmart) nor Express would do anything about it !!!

After allot of modding I finally got the chassis to sort of roll and the diff’s to sort of differential … I then installed the RX and ESC and it cooked the ESC !!

so after about a year, stupid me decided to try again !!! so I purchased a new RX kit from US ebay and had another go at it !!! which also turned out to be a waste of money as now the RX and ESC where much better quality but the chassis was still crap !!! so now I was up to 260-270 and only had some 1/24 size radio gear to show for it !!!…

I’ve been thinking for about 6 months now “SHOULD I GET THE NEWER CHASSIS AND TRY AGAIN !!!”… The thing that S@#TS me the most is that you can now buy the chassis for about $20aus.grrrr

I think the chassis could have been really good if the quality was there cause the independent suspension, ball diffs and AWD was way before it’s time but the quality was way behind the likes of a MINI Z’s…

Anyway, I suppose my question to you is !!!

What is the quality like now !!! IE’ plastic, diffs, alignment/ mesh of everything and also the front end ?? Or would I just be wasting more money ??

No they are fine !!!! and the shaft is the right length too !!!

my wheels rubbed on the strut tower even with the standard shafts !!

I’ve now also added the following parts to my AWD!!!

Blue Atomic alloy drive cups and
Blue and silver 3racing drive shafts..

It has removed all the play from this area !! The only play now is the wheels
themselves (centre holes have warn abit !!)

    Pix below !!!

Also !!! For those who haven’t noticed or tried it yet, If you run 4.5
cambers on the front you can’t run the standard offset wheels that come on
the chassis only kit !!! You have to run the 1.5 offset or more or the rims
will rub on the top strut tower, mainly while cornering !!! (you can see in Pic1 where mine did !! :smiley13: )

I wrote above that a friend has the new 02 !!! well he does but not the 02M!!. the chassis looks basically the same but it didn’t come with that RX or TX !!!! The M chassis looks like it’s better quality too … The front end on them is pretty weak but !!! The whole thing is held on to the chassis pan by two screws !!! and theres a lot of pressure put on it by the cover, then if you hit something it’s all over !!! The alloy front may fix this but !!!

anyway looks sweet !!! also wouldn’t mind finding out more about the Buggy that would be real cool !!!
