yeah you can just run the Kyosho X-Speed motor in the BB can !! No FET’s required !! But they do run a S#!T load better once you install a Fet stack or a V3.0 like mine !!!! hehe

The best way I have found is to use two sets of long nosed pliers !!

put one set right above the main gear and hold them tight on the shaft then use the other in between the first set and the bottom of the main rotor and lever them up !! Only go a little at a time so not to bend the shaft !! if ya replacing it with a carbon shaft then I suppose it doesn’t matter as much !! if ya still need a pic let us know …. :topstuff:

They are a little crazy for the first minute or so on a good full charge !! it’s just the way they are !!!! after a little practice it becomes much easier to handle the craziness then they settle for a good steady flight !!!

The link above is good !! heres another link with about 100 pagers of reading !!!

Are the ones at Big W genuine Silverlit Picoo Z’s or are they copy picco Z’s ?

The upgrade kit I got was from ebay but dont buy it as it uses carbon rod and the rod is to thin you need to use carbon tube as it fits the bearings perfect !! you can buy the bearings and tube from the site I listed in the earlier post !!

I’ll post the links soon !! the site seems to be down at the moment !!!

vinyl flooring would be ok as long as it’s not to bumpy and you can find some tyres that will grip !!! wood flooring is sweet to drift on and is ok to race on as long as you have the right tyres !! Astro turf sounds like it may be OK but i’ve never tried it !!! Hard carpet tiles may be ok as long as there not furry like normal carpet and hair doesn’t get stuck in it as your car will find it all !!!

I’ve got a fair bit from them too !!!

It has generally taken 9 day’s for delivery to me (where I live generally takes an extra day then most places) there service to me has been excellent but yeah, I’ve never made a pre-order with them so I cant comment on that !!!

Another good place is rcmart http://www.rcmart.com.au !! same thing, there email reply and English isn’t the best but I’ve never had any issues with them either…

But one of the best places I’ve dealt with would have to be here (Aaron, AUSMICRO) some of the prices may be a little higher then some of the other places but like Aaron said he’s taking the risk of the goods actually arriving and the service and delivery times if he has it in stock is second to non !!!

be carefull doing the BB and shaft mod !!
I got the bearing and sthaft mod for mine and it made my true Picoo not fly very well at all !!! after I installed it I wish I never did !!!

That was till I got some info about it !!

If ya going to do this mod use 1mm carbon tube not 1mm carbon rod !!! the 1mm carbon rod has to much play in the bearings, gear and rotor !! you even have to build up the thickness of the rod so that everything fits nug !!! If ya use 1mm carbon tube eveything fit snug straight up..
I got my tube and new bearings from Homefly ( http://www.homefly.com ) good pricing, good quality carbon, great service and superfast over seas delivery !!! I also got a few other thickness carbon rods so I could make some more custom landing gear and so on !!!

My new version that will be finished in the next few days will be far better then the one in the pic I did first up!!

    Hi Diehard,

Heres a little history of this 02 for ya !!!

This 02 was my original 02 !!! I brought it from the states secondhand, I sold it to a mate of mine who sold it to the guy you got it off !! The guy you got it off only had it for a few days and the guy I sold it to never used it, He only had it as a display car as it had my VDS body on it !! so when the new guy got it I brought the VDS body back from him !!! (I missed it too much and it still had not been used since painting !!!:D )

The guy you got it off brought it in a package deal and sold it so he could get more hop ups for his AWD !!!

When I got it, it had dead fets and was fairly stock with only the motor mount being installed !!! I did the FET stack and from memory (which is not very good) It is either 2×2 or 3×2 stack of FET’s that I cant remember !!! (I told you it was bad!!! 😀 )

I brought a shit load of hopups for it but I removed them all bar the motor mount, top shock, ball diff and VDS body when I sold it !!! The guy you got it off put a brand new BB motor case on it before he sold it !!! It had a PN speedy motor in it when I sold it which I think is the guts that is now in the BB can !!! but I’m not 100% sure of this. I can find out for you if you want !!!

The car is in really good nick dude !! The clips were broken from using them to remove the batteries The guy you got it from did this the first time he removed them !!! :gatlin: I’m not to sure what the other part that was broken is, (i’ll ask him about this too)

You wont be dissupointed with this car man, it is sweet !! I only sold it cause I could never get 02’s to handle but I have since purchased a new one and the guys on here have sorted the handling problems for me as I had the same problem with the new one !!!

Heres some links for ya !!
This one is of your new chassis with my VDS (lola) body on it before I painted it !!!
    http://www.ausmicro.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10583

This is a post of all my cars (at the time), Your new chassis is part way down !! it use to have an Enzo body on it then !! this was before I did most of the mods !!!
    http://www.ausmicro.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10488

It is also the, from left to right, the 3rd car in on my Avatar !! hehe.. I really should update my Avatar!

Anyway, have fun with it dude ! I did !!

In my AWD I run a Kyosho AWD X-Speed motor but I have replaced the can for a ball bearing can !! I of cause also have BB’s throughout the car !! I run alloy spacer/motor holding plates and an alloy motor cover which of cause help with heat dispersion !!

I run 17/29 gearing for smaller tracks (upto 2 car garage space) and 19/29 for slightly larger tracks !! This ratios seem sweet for some fairly fast racing !!! After a race which is a full set of Sanyo 1000mAh batteries my motor is just slightly warm…

I sometimes run the 19/29 gearing on the smaller track for a little extra speed but it can get a “little” laggy coming out of the tight hair pin !!!

But yeah it is really a track, motor and skill dependent thing !!! 😀

    Hay Renton,

No problems Buddy, I’m glad it made your first pull down allot easier !!

I’m not so glad that it didn’t fix the problem though!!!

A few questions for you !!

1, Can you explain exactly what is happening??

2, Did you clean the POT out with circuit board cleaner ???

3, Do you have or know anyone with another TX (transmitter) you could try with your car to narrow the problem down a little more ??

While your pulling it down “again” LOL, just double check everything as it only takes a microscopic rock to jam it all up, I normally check between each tooth on each cog to make sure !!

    Let know… :topstuff:

Thanks mate ! Only to happy to help !!!

You like my work pad hay ?? Best $2 I’ve ever spent I reckon !! LOL. I also use them (other side) for when I’m cutting balsa for my RC planes !!

Hmmm, little brass spaces ?? My car has never had any little brass spaces in the servo gear box !!! Come to think of it, my mates AWD doesn’t have any either !!!

We pre-ordered these cars from the states so they were some of the first to come out ! Maybe the brass spaces were an update on newer batches !! Just a thought !! Anyway, any chance at some stage could you PM us a pic or two of the box with brass spaces in it so I can amend the post ?? :topstuff:

    Step 21 :
*This step can be skipped if your not cleaning your POT !!!*

In the pic called STEP21 you can see the white plastic cover on the front of the POT !! Remove this cover making sure you don’t crack or bend it !! they are on there tight but it does come off !!! once you have it off it will look like the pic called STEP21A !! This pic also has a circle around the part I call the nipple !. Now spray some Circuit Board Cleaner in there !!! Let it dry, Then move the nipple a little and do it again !!! Once it’s completely dried the second time around replace the cover making sure it’s pushed on all the way …

    Step 22 :
Now reinstall the POT and the POT backing plate making sure you locate the POT nipple into the matching hole on Gear 1, See pic STEP22 to see the locating hole in Gear 1

    Step 23 :
Now your finished cleaning and it’s time to reassemble the car !! You do this by going backwards from Step 16 !!!

The only things I can remember you have to look out for is as mentioned earlier, Making sure you locate the wires in the right place when placing the servo cover/case back on. You can see the location of these wires in the pic called STEP9 !. The only other thing is making sure you put the 4 wires on top of the servo cover back in the right order, You can see the order of the Black and Grey wires in the pic called STEP7 and you can see the order of the Red and Black wires in the pic called STEP6

And thats about it !!! You should now have some steering that works as sweet as new and in some cases better !!!

Hope this walk through helps out anyone that needs it !! It’s taking me almost 5 hours to do, it’s after 4 in the morning and I’m now sick of typing !! LOL 😀
