    what a typo ..
it was supposed to be “a fight”.
Two blokes at the pub got into a blue.

but then again… somebody who is called “blue” often has red hair. I’m sure this wasn’t lost on virgin planes being bright red.

and I don’t know wtf is going on with olivia newton john’s shop “koala blue”.

The we had that painting “Blue Poles” that looks a lot like a digested pizza that was thrown up.
The governement paid a rediculous amount of money for that piece of shit.

We have the “Blue Ringed Octopus”.
They’re only small and you wouldn’t notice if they bite you, but their bite is potentially fatal. Make them angry and they’ll display their blue rings, which most marine creatures know means danger.

We have “Blue Bottles” (portugese man-o-war).
Go swimming at the beach in summer and get stung by one and you’ll know about pain.

and If you ever have a case of “blue balls” … then well 🙂

Yeah, I do both hang gliding and paragliding.

Anybody can learn to fly, hang gliders are the bicycles of the sky. If there were paragliders up it means that the wind was light to moderate, they can’t fly in stronger wind like hangys can.

If the wind is light, you need to run fast to get off the ground in a hang glider, but most of the time the wind is moderate down there and you just take a couple of step forward and your climbing away from the hill.
I’ve flown as far north as hell hole and as far south as Mt Kiera. I’ve seen other high performance gliders head to Macquarrie pass etc.

Stalls … gee, I haven’t done a stall for a while, I should practice a few more. They’re not really a big deal in a solo glider. They’re quite gentle and you don’t lose much height. (provided you don’t drop a wing and turn it into a spin) 🙂

Paragliders have canopy collapses … they look really nasty when they happen but they aren’t really a big deal either as long as you have enough height over the ground. If your close to a hill they can be a little more scarey. But by the time you look up to see what happened, they wing has already fixed itself.

The biggest thrill you get from flying at stanwell is if you make it across to the other side of the valley and can fly away. Your first training days are running around a paddock at Bulli with the glider. You feel pretty good when fly over it at 5000ft.

Hang gliding is more like being a bird, I’ve even had eagles fly close enough to touch them.
Paragliding is not so stressful, it’s like flying a couch. You just sit back and cruise around the sky.

how strong was it down there ?
Did you get much hands on time flying the glider yourself ?

the interceptor was the very first mini Z car I saw.. the buggers wanted $200 for it …. thought it was pretty cool … trip back to the 70’s.
They are actually quite common in HK, I saw two of them racing, including a hummer and a few other cool Z shells that I’ve never seen in aus.

my cat is a killer, she’d take an A-40 down if she had wings or I flew low enough.
I got a pic of here with one of the single channel UFO’s …. at first she watched it and wasn’t sure what to make of it. Was long before she’d leap of the table to catch it in mid air.

    A real helicopter has
-Cyclic control (left/right and forward/back) so that’s two channels.
    -Rudder left/right .. another channel.
-Collective Picth (up/down) .. another channel
-Throttle another channel … but on 1:1 choppers throttle is generally set and forgotten about.

A simple (propper) RC helicopter could get away with 4 channels, they don’t have collective pitch, instead use a throttle to do the same job.

The only realy problem it poses is that they can’t really autogyro (helicopter equivalent of gliding – everybody else’s idea of a softer crash)

yeah, got to say I haven’t watched platnium because it was so stable for a long time and then got dragged along with the paladium hike to $600usd. I should really have a small amount of it for trading but I have just been too lazy.
I want to try get my hands on some rhodium, but the price for the stuff is a little crazy at the moment.
Another good one to get your mits on is Mercury.
The stuff is not very user friendly, and people often want to get rid of it. Last I looked it was worth about $20 an ounce. (more than silver)

Palladium is a real LOSER !
    Saulut ! Da Tovorach ! 🙂
Russians used to produce Palladium as a by product of Nickle mining … they had so much of it, it used to sell for $20 usd an ounce.

I bought it many years ago for $80 usd an ounce.
(when the Aussie dollar was 0.80 us)
I bought 10 ounces just after the cold fusion announcement. When the price got to $800 usd I thought to myself, there are a LOT of stupid people out there buying this shit and it’s time to sell it. I got off when the aussie was 0.52 usd and put $1400 aud an ounce in my pocket.
Palladium crashed 3 months later and it has now started to climb again… but I’d be real careful of it if it goes over gold price.

I bought silver with some of my winnings at $4.70 usd, and took it to Russia where I was getting $10 usd an ounce. (marketing) 🙂 Russian silver is 80%, so when I walk in with 100% everybody wants it.

Money I made from that I bought up gold… though now it’s stuck on $400 usd … I’m trying to get more… but it’s strategy. people are asking too much for gold.. up to 50% above spot price.
Everybody thinks it’s going up, but nobody wants to pay for it now.

These choppers are a bit of a variation on the single channel choppers.
The up/down channel controls “collective” pitch, but since you can’t pitch the blade, it’s actually just a throttle. The more throttle you give it, the quicker it goes up. The main rotor also has a slight bit of forward pitch, so it makes the copper go forward by default.

The left/right channel controls the tail rotor.
I noticed in the single channel models the tail rotor is geared to the main rotor, though I always figured they were a simple gyro. Which may be the case for this chopper. The tail rotor basically points the chopper, so with a little bit of throttle, you’ll move in that direction.

It should be very simple to fly, but you cannot hover with this kind of chopper. It will always move forward in the direction it is pointing.

If it’s cheap enough, it’s probably a good into into crashing choppers on the cheap 🙂

yep, I play silly buggers with them.
not as much lately. Shares & options. looking at warrents, but they’re a bit tricker. I don’t think I’ve got enough balls to play with futures, and bullion / commodities I seem to do ok with.

umm… yeah, you can get them on ebay, there are quite a few people who sell them out of hong kong.
if you’re bidding on them, make sure you get the cost of postage first. Some of them will sting you for $50 or so when the postage only costs like $10aud.
A good option is to get some cheap B&W CCD cameras and try the jaycar/ oatley modules etc.
If you ever going to SE asia, I can tell you how to find the places that have the good cheap stuff.

Ah, yes I often fly my paraglider at Manilla.
Another good place for people with flying dreams to visit. 🙂

Yep, no probs… what frequencies you need ?
I’ll be back in Oz about wednesday and then out again friday.

Crack me up …. one of the shops here now has the single channel UFO’s. There are a lot of russian helicopter pilots here in Dili, they fly the Mi-8’s. I know where most of them have dinner so I took one in there… put it on the bar and sat down and had dinner. The owner wasn’t sure what it was, I said.. special supprise.
The Russians came in and after a few minutes I turned the RC on and started flying it.
The Caos was hillarious …. 5 of them trying to work out how it was flying and who was controlling it. Every time they got close enough to grab it, up it went !
Needless to say when the game was over they all wanted one. The shop is now sold out of them.

heheh… mine are small enough to fit on a bit car. they work well on a tank 🙂

They cost $250HKD. which is about $50aud.

Sooner or later somebody in HK is going to read this site and feed you guys lots of cheap shit, or you’re going to save some pennies and book a group tour to HK and China for a shopping spree
    🙂

I still got plenty left, and I can get more.
They’re still about $60-65 for ausmicro memebers (I got to check the cost of postage) and I usually sell them for $80 to non-ausmicro people.
The extra $20 comes in handy for wasting money testing new flying toys. I’ll share the $20 with ya so you can start test flying stuff too. 🙂

They have the UFO’s here in timor for $32usd and the cheapy 1ch helicopters for $25usd.
I can see it won’t be long before you head down the coast to Middle Brother and get yourself a flight with High Adventure hang/paragliding.

There is a Thai guy here who loves kites. He saw me fly my paraglider today. He now NEEDS to have one 🙂
