LOL! Thats too funny. My wife said the same thing about the wheels on the body lift! Well, like I tried to explain to her, the mod is about a “body lift” andNOT big wheels. I only set up that car temporarily to showcase the mod, but I took it apart after the photo shoot. It was really only a proof of concept type thing to show it could be done. The mod you speak of has the body mounted/gluedonto the clear PCB board cover, and I wasnt too happy with that method. So I created this mod, because you attach and remove the body like normal. The object is to imagine this body lift on a bit like the one you mentioned with the big tires.

My next mod (in progress) is a bit with 4 point monster truck suspension, and that one actually has big old tires… The suspension is done and working, just waiting on an appropriate axle. heee hee.

BTW, my stinkin ISP crashed my FTP directory over the wknd so the site is gone! I am gonna have to re-upload the site, when they return access to my dir to me, which they claim they have no idea what happened to it. D*mn.

The OEM Bits have the forward and backwards reversed. The 4 Channel controller will control other Tomy Bit CharGs fine.

This isn’t necessarily true. I’ve not seen a 4 channel controller where the forward and backward actions are reversed… You might have a defective controller.

I searched all over for a bloody retractable aerial but found nothing suitable…even at Maplins. Ended up buying a really cheapo nasty radio in one of those cheapo nasty shops (sub market quality!!) and whipping off the aerial. Fits nice but it doesnt increase the range that much.

I`ve got this mod done on mine too. Exactly the same as chewy`s.

Running the car with a 2.2 motor – fun.

Running the car with a 3.0 motor – insane!

Oh. Where`d you get ya retractable aerial from?

Disappointed, cos i`ve a 57mhz scooby (normal one) and it`s class.

Xanavi Special Edition 57MHz Yes — not anymore

Suburu WRX BlueYes (back) — not anymore

NOTE: WRX cap was on the back, labelled 10. On the controllers with the clearish case this capacitor is visible without opening the case! Just shine a flashlight through the side with “loop” on the antenna side of the case. The capacitor can easily be seen UNDER the green resistor, you can also see the blue wire on this side.

Just added that 2.4v cell to my yellow Honda S2000 (40mhz). Took me a while to fit it in, and it’s sure as hell not pretty, but the car is damn fast.

Managed to snap one of those really thin wires while i was in there, but soldered it back together.

It doesn’t wheelie, but turning may cause it to flip onto it’s side or back.

I also modified my controller so that it charges at full voltage (3v – from the QFM site)

It is all very experimental at this stage. Most if the ideas have come from the kids who, by the way, think its wicked and love the cars.

The track is flat with a pit lane, long straight ( about 5ft ), short straight, sweepers and chicane come s’s. There is going to be one spectator hill.

All cars run 1.0 motors as the kids coordination is not ready for faster motors.

    Cheers Julius

I had exactly the same problem. I have a Skyline 27Mhz Booster set and the range was about 3ft as standard but after fitting a retractable aerial, I get about 6 feet. Still bloody poor compared to my 15-20ft range of my Leyu and TT OEM Regular bits. Someone posted a 20ft result after an aerial mod but I havent found the details.

TruenoCharG – do you think that these motors will go to 4.8V? Since doing the mod, I have transplanted the PCB from an OEM Regular Bit (Leyu I think) onto the power train and chassis on this Booster Bit. Although, I loose the Booster function, I get WAY more range. But I must say that this bit is for straight line work only…Dragster style. I have 3 x dual battery bits which are set up for racing…..one corners like nothing else and will flip on a smooth floor but on carpet it turns on a dime…literally. And one other is a drifter and I can get it to drift around most obstacles on smooth floor. The last one is an all rounder. So far, my drift-Bit is my favourite.

If you wanna do the dual battery bit, theres loads of tutorials out there. PRabbit and Bdrift did good ones and I have a 3 battery tutorial on BitCharG UK… http://www.blackadderhall.com/bitchar-g/

You can always follow that and use 2 cells instead of the 3. Easy really.

yeah, you get proportional control, but if the car doesn’t do it justice then what use is it? the digi-q’s have proportional control, but i’ll take my bit char anyday over the digi-q on a race track (see my track variations at my webpage) i come from 1/10th scale racing from yokomo yr4’s to the tc3 and now micros and z’s. this does not do it well enough. maybe the next version will be better, but as far as i know, the van is not worth it yet. it also looks very cheap, not the typical yokomo quality i am used to. i wish i spent a little more and tried and epoch v2. now this yokomo served as a training car for my GF, who is not very good……… but she could handle it on a tight course and an even bigger course after 2 charges. yes, of course i tried the old 2x and 3x charge and it helped only a little. so, if anyone in the US wants mine still, let me know. otherwise, i’ll probably end up ripping it up after i get my brushless setup going in my micro. b
