I’m glad the US now has an “official” distributor, but I’m suprised how much product is out of stock. WTF??:smiley13:

If i was wondering are these compact char g’s the same as bit char g’s or are they made by another company that is just copying it like the Char g?
and if kmart only sells 40 and 27 would they or anyone else be selling the other frequencies?

Can you pick up the car, turn the wheels one way and watch them spring back straight? If NO, Your spring ismissing or installed incorrectly. If yes but they don’t go back all the way or not all the time then you need to use dry graphite lube to lubricate all steering components. This includes the top and bottom pins of the white steering knuckle that go through the upper and lower frame holes, the steering bar holes at each end where it fits over the white steering knucles, the tops of the steering knuckle pins that hit the suspension bar. Also lube the front axles with dry graphite. All of these points have to be consistantly low friction or else the weak hair sized spring that returns the car to straight position can’t pull it back straight.The axles need lube because if one wheel getscaught up (even just a little bit) more than the other it will pull. Even if you get your car to go straight for a while it usually starts pulling one way or the other because it picks up ferrous particles from the floor and they stick to the housing around the steering because of the magnet. Just pull them off with a strong magnet when your steering acts funny.

Ausmicro does import the cars – we don’t have an online shop becuase quite frankly we don’t think the sales income would justify the time inpout into setting up the code. However as we get stuff in we do post about it int he ForSale forum.
Yes things are a littel tough for us at the moment as we’re both in the middle of work loads and stuff but we certainly can supply a few parts and cars to anyone who wants them.

Cost would be whatever they cost us (around USD27.00ea) plus postage (around USD8.00ea for 7-10day airmail or USD18.00ea for 2-3day EMS). Of course, if you guys can organise yourselves to have one person receive half a dozen at a time (split up and ship within the USA), you’ll save quite a bit on the international postage component.

Hi all.
I’ve now gone through 2 x Blue Nissan Skyline GT-R Australian models from K-Mart….
The first one would not reverse reliably. you’d have to go forward a bit, and then reverse would kick-in.. from stand-still, reverse would not even budge! That was returned today 16-7-2002.
I got another one from K-Mart today and this one ROCKS in reverse, but when going forward, or steering, it stutters as if there’s inteference… Can’t think of why – considering it’s 40MHz like the one ipreviously had. This one’s going back tomorrow, unless I can get some sort of feedback as to why it’s dodgy like this..
I’m looking to import a Japanese model on the 4-band frequency. My mates have the imported models and they ROCK! with no problems.. I’d appreciate any feedback.

Just to clear onelittle thing up. The multi-controller is 4-BAND (frequency) and 2-CHANNEL :smiley1:
As the other guys have suggested, a longer antenna on both the controller and car will help a little. Similarly, fresh batteries will always give you some extra “kick”. Also – have you tried running the car outside – away from your home/office equipment. Quite often there’s all sorts of nasty RF interference about that can upset the Char-G.A run outside might just rule out issues with the actual controller.
Now – onto the multi-controller “cripple capacitor” question. The answer is “possibly”. Sorry I can’t be more helpful than that. I have two multis and cannot find ANY trace ofa capacitor to retard output strength. HOWEVER, I’ve read posts (search the forums) from a number of folks that state they’ve located a specific capacitor, removed it, and experienced significant range performance improvements.
Just a quick word of warning on pulling the multi-controller apart. There’s LOTS of little parts to contend with and they’re a nightmare to get back in the right spot for a correct reassembly. Take your time and watch what you’re doing VERY carefully :smiley4:

The advert, IMHO, is EXCELLENT. Clearly an Aussie-voiceover of existing video material from Japan (and possibly the UK), but it shows the cars doing what they do best. I can see why the general public here are getting excited about them. The adpunches along at a frantic pace; it’s informative – both visually and by voice-over; and it has somegreat sound effects in the background to keep the “fast” theme going.
The video can be downloaded by following the links on the Bit Char-G Gallery page. A few notes:
1. The audio/video has been dropped to what I’d call “average” quality to save on bandwith.
2. If you plan on watching the video a few times, please save it locally to your hard drive.
3. The copyright holder of the original advertisement is JNH Australia Pty Ltd. The material is offered here under the “research and study” provisions of the Commonwealth of Australia “Copyright Act 1968 (Cth)”.
4. The video is 35sec long (incl intro title) and weighs in at 966KB. Originally captured as an AVI from Channel 10 Television Perth broadcast.

I just traded in my defective (short range and very weak and unreliable reversing) silver Honda S2000 for a yellow one instead at K-Mart Banktsown Square. I’m so glad i did that cause this yellow one rocks! The range is incredible (didn’t get to the limit but definitely over 9 metres) and it doesn’t have any problems reversing.
So while I was there I tried it out in front of K-mart, and was immediatly confronted with “oh, that’s so cute” (from a young teenage girl) and “excuse me, where did you buy that” from a spoilt little boy. there should still be about 3 left at K-mart Bankstown square (behind the lay-by counter), there was about 12 two days ago, so these things are definiely hot! Hope JNH will realise how popular they are get some more down here.

I got myself a 40MHz Blue Skyline.As you can see in my new sig.
The car itself is ok,But the motor is a little slower than my other 2.2 motor.
So i swapped them and the new Compact Char-G 2.2 motor is still slower in my Booster car.
Anyway i hope to bring the wolrd as soon as i can get hold of digital camera,

KITT — No, it’s not the first TV advert in the world -a section of the Japanese one is already on this site (refer this thread for more info). I’m guessing, however, that it is the first commercial IN ENGLISH released to date.
If anyone else has seen a local commercial for micro RC cars, please let the rest of us know….

I got the 3x AA battery holder from a Maplin Electronics store here in the UK, they have a great range of electronics bits and bobs but not all of it is cheap, the battery holder I gotwas like 50p. They have AA holders in 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 6x, 8x &10x sizes: (PP3 battery clip required for the larger sizes)

No sir, we’re talking the next size up. Roughly the same scale as Kyosho Mini-Zs. They’re plam-sized as opposed to micros. Pretty close to 1:35 scale I think?
Get a bunch. They’re cheap, they’re fun and the mods are endless.
