The standard (rectangular ‘slab’) controller can control only a single frequency. You’re thinking of the Digi Q controller :smiley15:

    I got a similar question:

Can the standard controller control all frequencies, or just a single freq? I remember reading that one controler could be set to diffrent frequencies.. but I’m not sure if it was the Char-G controller or the Digi-Q controler? Somebody clear this up for me.

BTW.. I just ordered my first Char-G, a Nissan Gloria w/ 1.0 motor. Can’t wait for it to get here!!

BabyBel – I removed your other post where you asked the same question :smiley15:

With regards to “what motor?”, I’d say just get your main car for now and run the motor that’s in it. Until you decide where you’re going to race andthe type/size of your tracks, buying a whole pile of accessories might be an unnecessary expense.

One of my road tracks is so tight that even a 1.0 motor is WAY too quick for it! Get your car, put in plenty of practice and decide where you’re going to be racing regularly – THEN go nuts ordering suspension, gear and motor parts.

Oh to answer your question “anything i need to know about this hobby before i get into it ..? “. Yep – just two things:

    • It’s addictive; and
    • Your wallet will never be the same again. smiley3.gif

Maladroit – yep, 4Band controller can control the standard other cars, you just need to flick the A-B-C (code set) selector switch on the back to “A”

    Cheers

Ok well i visit IGN ALOT .. and when i read that article on these cars … i knew i needed to get one. So i am going tomorrow to pick one up. I am planning on getting the Subaru WRX Blue

Now should i also pick up a 2.2 or 3.0motor …? And should i pick up anything else to go along with it ..?

Also i have read that i can get the OEM-Bullet body to fit on the Bit-ChargG is this try .. cuz i want the 206 body…

Also is there anything i need to know about this hobby before i get into it ..?

    Thanks

    Hey Babybel!

    Welcome tothe ausmicrocommunity!

If you have time, how would you feel about doing a post with the theme “My First Bit Char-G”?It could be a fun and interesting thread for prospective buyers and long-time owners alike.

For a number of us, that “OMG! This thing is soooo cool” excitement when you run your first car is something of a distant memory now. I, for one, enjoy sharing in the smiles and positive experiences of others. I mean….assuming your first car IS a fully-positive experience :smiley2:

Thanks again for joining us…. put on a dressing gown and a comfy pair of slippers, and make yourself at home!

Thx for the answer… one more thing. The 4band control operates all Bit Char-G cars right? not just the booster ones?

Welcome aboard, Maladroit! Hope you enjoy yourself and learn a thing or two from our little community!

The Booster Set cars definitely need the special 4Band controllers to make them operate. They use a different code set from the normal cars and, of course, need a controller with an “action” button (a third channel) to make them scream off into the distance :smiley2:

And yes – you can transplant the Micro B 2.2 across to your Gloria if you want some extra punch! All Micro B motors, as long as they’re fitted with the BLACK pinion gear, will go into any of the Bit Char-G cars.

    Hope that helps. Cheers!

I too have found it frustrating when trying to decide on which bit Char-Gto buy for your first time. I wanted to buy a car for my brother, my girlfiend and myself and for them tobe suitableto race against each other.

With sources scatterred around the internet of engine sizes, gear box ratios, frequecies and clear pictures I compiled a list that can be found at my site. Go to http://www3.turboweb.net.au/~mnewham/root/and click on STANDARD SPECS. The list is notquite complete so if anyone can help fill in the missing blanks it would be much appreciated.

Buy the way, I ended up purchasing a silver Honda S2000, a white Nissan GTR and a blue Nissan GTR.

I use a fishing tackle box. Just make sure you have one that when the lid is closed, that all the compartments are completely close as well.

Cheap and available from Big W, Target

i bought an integra type r and a propo controller a few weeks ago.

i think it’s funner than the bit for just driving around all over, due to the proportional speed control. true, there aren’t mods for it (yet), but you can modify choro-q bodies to fit, so there are *waaayyy* more bodies available than the bit.

also, i’m sure there will be more mods available in the future, plus, i wouldn’t be surprised if they figure out away to update the chip through the IR interface (purely speculation on my part).

i can’t wait to get my propo special controller….

You’ve carved tread into your tires? How cool! Into which compound? Surely the super-softies don’t need it? But then….

I bought the tire kit and have tried every combo, the tires that come with the char g are the softest and have good trac tion when clean. Use masking tape for sure. I also made small diagnal incisions across my tire with a razor blade. i knoew it sounds ridiculous but it is the best thing I’ve done yet.

Thanks for the measurements, mate. Using that as a visual scale, they certainly look like the stuff I’m after. W00T!
