well i tried the string one above the bottom one because my bottom one broke and haven’t played guitar for like 5 years and that string was way too strong. It’s amazing how weak this wire really needs to be and is on the original. I am almost giving up to take my friends out of his and go to some store and see if they can match it. I dunno, either that or e-mail some places that sell bits and ask if they have broken ones that they can take the wire off and send to me or if they have extras or something. I dunno really im clueless!

Aaron, just to be a bore, I’m guessing that it’s the proxy server that I am hidden behind as I got the following trying to view the night rider vids –

The proxy server, the computer that protects your network, cannot be found, so Windows Media Player cannot make a connection.”

Sorry about the waste of forum space.

Once again, I’ll churp in with an idea (but not being an owner, you’ll have to weight the advice accordingly). I’m a guitar hack and help but think that maybe afineelectric guitar stringwill do the trick eg just fine enough and just strong enough. I’ll hurry up and get one so my ideas are more worthwhile shortly !

Anyone got a frequency counter and a four-channel remote to check this? I’ve got the frequency counter, but no four-channel remote.

Another dumb idea… the tungsten(?) wire (I don’t know what the h-e-double-hockey-sticks it is) in a light bulb. It’s tiny and flexible.

Its sad to say, but no, the tape wire did not work. It is too strong compared to the original wire. The original actually gave quite a bit of lee-way, whereas this wire just stuck my wheels into one positioni am gonna try the phone wire one later on. But i will never quit, iw ill get my bit fixed. Late, Dave

For what it’s worth, I’ve now deleted all my temporary files and all of my history, but still only get closed envelope icons, I’ll assume it’s at my end and will keep an eye out for any of your updates.

I can’t decide wether I want to have a go at soldering the thing up myself or pay more to have it pre-built. WhenI get one installed in a car my friend who I got a car forwill freak when he sees it smiley1.gif

Ideally I’d like the LEDs to be closer together and mounted in the bonnet of the car, for that I think I’d have to solder the thing up myself so I could put the LEDs on a short length of wire. Unless that’s already been planned for your next version?

As you had to program the SMC chip, could there be mk.2 & mk.3 etc. designs with different speeds of light flashing? I can only guess it’s possible asI don’t know how programmable the chip is.

I am very much looking forward to getting a KITT light kit

I was there – HONEST! I took the photo! And I asked for KITT’s permission, too.

Does this work with the Booster Remote? How does the range of Booster compare with the before/after of the regular remote?

Looks like Hobbico is a supplier only. I suspect that tower hobbies will be getting them from Hobbico. (Notice that all their cars are on order at the moment)

Hi Graham – and welcome to the MicroForum

Battery life, range etc is much of a muchness. If anything – the running time is EXTENDED with a boosted car.Thecircuiton board the car is simply a3ch (instead of 2ch) to allowboost. Without the boostbutton depressed thecircuit pulses power to the rearwheels (hundreds pf times per second), instead of supplying a constant 1.2v. That’s how you get slightly better battery life!

When the turbo button is pressed down, the car behaves like a “normal” Char-G and screams off into the distance. The big benefit that you will pick up from the Booster car is when racing on a circuit.Leave the turbo button off around the curvey sections of the track and then punch it it for the faster sections of the track. It just offers you so much more control.

    Hope that helps

    Derek,

Having done the mod as well, my results are about the same as yours…

Prior to mod, 3~4 metres, post mod, about 7~9 metres…

I found, though, that when you got further away, it made a difference if the antenna was up in the air (7m),

or pointing towards the ground (~9m)…

    Ryan:

I am not sure if it will fit the lancer (as I dont have one)but we are redesigning the board now we know there is a big demand for them so we are using a SMC chip which means we have had to buy a special board to programme these on so thekit will fit ALL bit charG bodies. They need to be ordered through my email but please allow us time to build them up (made to order) or if you fancysoldering it yourself then we will get it straight to you.

KITT: The batteries aren’t rechargeable but we are selling the battery kit for when the batteries run out (which will take approximately 8-9 hours constantly on, so that is a long time about 8 weeks if you dont put it on all the time) this wil cost 2GBP or you can buy the batteries yourself and try doing the same as we have done with them its just a matter of soldring 3 wires to the batteries. Again, email me for ordering.

KRAYZEE: You will only be getting the board and not the body but it wil fit any body when the SMC chips are made

I have basically put the version 1.0 of this board on here just to show people what we have done and how many people will want them coz this has not been cheap to create with the ammount of trial and errors we have come accross has cost us some cash, not to mention the time its taken.

Send them to The Admiral? Why are you sending my bird pictures?

Just kidding. Please post them to my Bit Char-G Gallery anytime you like!

An update on the WRX rally decals: I’m still working hard on ’em. I’ve probably put close to ten hours into them so far, and I’m not there yet. Bear with me. I found incredible source material at http://www.swrt.com.

i spent last night till 3 in the morning fixin up my wrx body. I re painted it and put in window and body lines, glued the spoiler in place, kinda loose, smoked the headlights and blacked the grill work. then started in on the decals. I used decals from a warhammer decal set i had lyin around. turned out pretty good for a first try. I’ll have to take pics tomorrow and send em to the admiral and derek for posting.
