Thanks for the advice guys, I actually ended up buying a pair of Compact Char-Gs from a local K-Mart — a Blue Skyline GT-R (40MHz) and a Silver Honda S2000 (27MHz) last night for $50 each. Actually, I bought one each from two different K-Marts, as I had trouble finding any that hadn’t already been opened!

I scanned the manual pages for those who have purchased the Japanese imports and are having trouble understanding the guides:

I found that the Skyline had no problems whatsoever, but the S2000 ‘stuttered’a little bit when only 3-4 feet away from it’s controller — should I take it back or is there something I can do to repair it?

Both came with the orange gears (9.86:1 ratio I believe) and a yellow-bottomed motor, which I believe is probably a 2.2 (22,000 RPM) motor.

Mate, trust me, my dad used to work in melbourne, he used to be there 18 weeks a year….basically, its good for kids under 13, and good for people over 40…but I dont fit into either of them. I desperately wanna move to melb, it is jst so cool.

YES IT IS!Its connected to the L3 resister which is conected to the antena track!

I checked the car with a microscope and I noticed the source of all my problems. The copper coil appears to have shorted, so it blew the steering wire off.

So I fixed the problem by rewiring around the burned part of the copper coil, and then soldered the other end back to the motherboard at the same location as the good steering wire. Then I tucked awayany stray wires.

And now my LXX Pennzoil Skyline works like a charm. Awesome handling. Terrorized my pet birds with it. One of the birds got pissed, picked up the car, and threw it across the living room. But the car and the bird are ok.

Hi iwas wondering if you can do this duel cell by useing a nicad 50mah and a nimh 120 mah?Would this work or do they have to be the same cells?Cheers…

I actually took apart the car and I did in fact find that one of the steering wires was not connected to the motherboard. Upon further inspection, the other end of that same wire was not connected to anything either. So I have one whole steering wire not connected to anything.

From observing thegood steering wire, I’m guessing that one end of the disconnected wire should go to the copper thing at the front of the car, and the other end should go somewhere on the motherboard, my best guess is the same location as the connection point for the good steering wire.

Can anyone offer some tips as to how to correct the problem, such as schematics or answers? It’s really really tiny things to work with inside the car.
