Quote:the monster will come out with the series 2… just a question of when
I’ll have a Monster truck please.
Looking forward to seeing you dudes drift your 1:10s.
:pI’ve never heard of that joke. How does it go ?
I can’t wait for the video action. Please show me a drift.
🙂
Are these monster trucks available yet ?

Thanks for the info, should have one in my hands by the end of November.
🙂
Shipping is a killer at $44 USD and it ain’t registered mail either.

Hey I found another place to bash around a Z and 1:10.
Tempe Netball Courts at the end of Holbeach Avenue. There’s about 10 or so courts there and the surface is smooth asphalt. Not as good as the surface at Meadowbank though. But only 5 minutes drive away, I won’t complain.
There were 3 guys down there on Sunday evening running there ep 1:10 tourers.
Not sure if the place is lit up at night, will have to check. 🙂
How was the racing on the weekend ?
I took this car out for a run yesterday evening and it simply has too much power that it’ll only go in a straight line. I can see the front wheels turn, but the chassis still goes straight. Some more intense turning sees the car aqua-planing and spinning out at high speeds. Tyres also easily blistered.
Not Fun. I’ve since gone back to 4 cells so that I can at least have some control of it.
🙂Woohoo, I’ve got the all okay to proceed with the 1:10 (I had to promise that I will only get one 1:10 LOL)- but will be a few weeks before I get it. Going to get my sister to evaluate prices in Hong Kong for me while she’s on holidays.
MiniKing, best to do all the stuff to the car now… you don’t want to be old and driving a done up car man – it just doesn’t have the right image.
😀
“Okay… who put ethanol into the fuel”.
For the ESC I’ll probably go for this one: http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=421_36_51&products_id=2428
…because it looks like value for money.
But for the servo, I’m a little confused, there are high speed, high torque ones… also ones with a round disk on the top, and ones that have a cross on the top… what would be a good one to get ?
Icebreak, I’ve checked that one out, the starting price has dropped from $150 down to $120 from yesterday.
Thanks for the reply.
The one I was looking at was this: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2565&item=5930858193&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
I don’t really want the hassle of finding outdated hard to get parts when things break so I guess I’ll have to stick with the current chassis’s offered by Tamiya. Sort of like buying a Beta video recorder and not being able to buy any Beta video tapes to use with it.
Cheers.
It’s only a matter of time… I’ll keep working on it and eventually the 1:10 will be mine. I’ll just buy her a something, then I’ll buy myself something LOL.
Reading the reviews of the duratrax mini-quake apparently they have some quality issues, where some parts break in under a week from normal indoor driving.
Hopefully the clones at rc-mart are better – and spares for it become available.
🙂
Quote:Kev:4wd drive will make it a heap easier to drift and yes you will have a more controlled drift………Check out Hobby Co they have th new TT01 in kit form for only $195.00….Bearings set is only $25 full set and then all you need is radio gear it comes with a ESC cheering…..i think thats the way im goin to go…ill just get a hotter motor and you will be able drift…cant wait!!!!!!:D:DBad news, the other half says no to the 1:10 but says yes to the duratrax mini quake. Says I don’t have room to put a 1:10.
You single guys are lucky I tell ya !
I agree, finding room for it is hard, but getting the other half to approve it is even harder…
Quote:Its the new Bunnings at Bankstown on Cantebury Rd….everyone is welcome….So is it closer to bankstown airport or is it closer to where the women all stand on Canterbury Rd ?
I’d like to build one up as well for the fun of it.
I’ve got some prices from overseas, seems like one can be landed here for about $215 with the aussie dollar so high.
Mini-king, I want to do the same thing as well – some controlled drifting action. Still can’t do it properly with a mini-z 👿
So hopefully 4wd will make it easier.
I love it when they get air… Nice shots too..
So do they shoot pellets an bbs ? What happens if you end up losing them all ?
Are they seperately available ?
btw, TE have iwaver chassis sets for $24.90
Anyone notice that the iwaver shells have doubled in price ?

Oh, I’m getting so tempted to get a 1/10 electric powered tourer now. 🙂
you too, eh? I love Christmas time…:D What you looking at getting Kev?
Looking into a Tamiya TB02 with impul-350z shell… But not sure as yet because I’m probably not going to actively race it in competitions etc.. I think I’m going to have to work out where to run the thing.
Hobbico have them for $379 and the sales guy recommends the TT01 RTR…
Ahh decisions decisions….

Quote:i think tim had a go at adding another cell but stuff seemed to melt alot when he tried out new idea`s 👿 did you buy the extra cell holder as a single cell or mod a double?Yeah, not sure what happened to Tim’s extra cell stuff, one day he had it, next day nothing. My guess is that he probably had trouble sitting it properly between the chassis and the ball diff without it rubbing. If you look at the photos above, I use thick piano wire and bend it to shape to fit the the battery holder. This is then wound around the screw which is normally used for the roll shocks.
Extra Cell holder is a single and can be bought from Jaycar along with everything else. Costs 60 cents.
BTW. The chassis says made in China. My MR02 says made in Japan.
Hope the weather is better for this coming Sunday.
🙂
TD: I haven’t run it yet, unfortunately don’t have anywhere close by… Seems faster though, as you see in the video, the tyres diameter expands off the alloy rim which didn’t happen with 4 cells. It’ll be interesting to see if it’ll burn out the pcb or not but I’m sure those components have some tolerences built in.
dgs: The crown belongs to you buddy. I’m just tinkering here and there being a hobby and all…might give motor winding a go next. Got a couple of those x-speed pro’s coming – wouldn’t mind giving those a good test.
I’m not sure how the car will run without the rear damper but will see…
