these are the tyre set I’ve bought from rcmart:

    2 x TOPCAD (#15133) Tire Only (1 pr) For Mini-T & RC-18T (15133) = USD$9.00
    2 x TOPCAD (#15130) Tire Only (1 pr) For Mini-T & RC-18T (15130) = USD$9.00
    2 x TOPCAD (#15135) Tire Only (1 pr) For Mini-T & RC-18T (15135) = USD$9.00
    2 x TOPCAD (#15131) Tire Only (1 pr) For Mini-T & RC-18T (15131)

I also got an alloy rim set. Funny, the allow rim set has different topcap pin tyres to the ones that come with just the tyre and insert.

lol, as for souping the bugger up I put in a graupner (sounds dirty) speed 300 in it and it rocks!

    News from nelly land…..

First things first, the shop is now open!

Nelly v1.2 and v1.3 are available for order. Nelly deluxe will be in the shop within the week. Just finalising some documentation changes since the installation has extra steps involved.

    and a few other things….

The design of an all n-chan MOSFET h-bridge was unsucessfull. The problem lay in the abilty to switch the top half of the h-bridge well enough.

Since I switched out the pchan mosfets for nchan mosfets I needed to be able to invert the signal going into them. In realy simple terms the nchand mosfet turns on when it’s gate voltage approches Vcc. With a pchan, it gets turned on when it’s gate voltage approaches GND or 0V.

The inverting was simple, using some appropraite INVERTING mosfet drivers. The issue was the path the gate drive current needed to take between it’s gate pin and GND.

With nchan mosfets in the top half of the h-bridge their source pin is not directly connected to ground. The source pins “gets” the ground so to speak though the bottom pair of mosfets in the h-bridge. This path for the current to flow was only available to the mosfets on the top half of the h-bridge when the bottom mosfet was turned on.

A lot of tech crap I know but in the end the top half, nchan mosfets have little chance of turning on properly since they don’t have straight access to the ground.

That’s why traditionaly p-chan mosfets are used in the top half of a h-bridge, their current flows from Vcc to gate. This path is a direct connection just like the nchans path from gate to ground.

oh well, one can keep trying…… there’s more than one way to skin a cat!

    cheers,

lol, you got the ferrite magnet version of the plasmatomic. How is the torque? I wonder how the response would be with a neo magnet version.

dude, just break it in dry for 30 – 40 minutes in the direction that is forward for your chassis…. that’s all you need to do.

Lipo cells may not blow the fets if you stay with the stock motor. Anything slightly hotter whilst on lipo’s will prolly blow the PCB.

    cheers,

lol, merc, please be a little bit more respectfull to biohazard, he’s as old school as it gets when it comes to the micro scene.

Hell I still remember Bio’s green truck with the carbon fibre hood. That was one of the first fully modded bits I saw before I even got into the scene.

just a followup on this thread….

I finally got a chance to take the mr02 down to templestowe for the day.

    WOW!

It was running a nelly and a very fast plasma/atomic motor and it handled great!

Just the oil shock and thin h-plate was all it needed. So much for roll shocks and the like, looks like they might be overkill…

Anyways, the dampening effect of the oil shock (without spring) is amazing. I can’t stress enough how this single addition changed the way the chassis behaved….

Also, the MM motor mount really helps with high speeds. It’s hard to explain, but when the chassis would hit a disturbance the car would act like an arrow and naturally dampen itself, staying forward. The RM motor mount would normall spin out in this situation…..

I have a question though. I recently scored (like, today!) some ATOMIC damper oil that is meant to be the thick one (1000 grade ???). I’m currently using the 300 grade I got with the oil shock.

My question is what will happen to the shocks dampening characteristic when running a harder oil? Is a harder oil more advantageous when running at higher speeds?

    Any feedback would be appreciated…

    cheers,

how do you find them mate? do they change the madforce’s handling? I guess the front end must be pretty stable now. I trust you’re using alloy damper mounts as well. the whole front end must be pretty tight now…..

nelly’s will be ready soon mate, soon…..

dunno about anywhere retail in aus mate. I know some hobbyshops stock mr01’s. dunno if they stock mr02’s. your best bet is to call your local hobby shops and see how you go.

    where are you in aus?

an OL will take more surfaces, mr01/mr02’s aren’t good for carpet.

I’m pretty sure azzachaz maybee aaron (site admin), but I can’t say for certain…..

if you can spare the $$, go the mr02. superior in many ways…..
