Don’t make me post a picture of my garage !
It has enough space for six (1:1) cars. I can just barely get my two motorcycles in !

Yes, that’s a good idea. I was working on the code for this just the other night. Trying to re-learn CDMA techniques so that the reader can handle multiple cars going though the gate at the same time, and out of phase with each other.
Tricky stuff. it’s not a high priority project, I just plod along on it every now and then.

You need to take a look at some of the Estes rockets. 🙂

I’m in timor at the moment, but if you need a plane or parts, I have some at home that my girlfriend can post for me. No RX boards yet, and I’m out of batteries… so I’ll order those in the next couple of days… I got to go out to NZ next week.. bloody hard life 🙂

I have my paraglider with me here in East Timor, I’ve been flying the hills around Dili. I got permission from Dili Air Traffic Control to fly, so I’ve been making the most of it. Got some good pics.
When you going to do that tandem Talldude ??? 🙂

It’s just loading now … it looks like the same style chopper, at $129, it looks like a good deal.
72MHz, it isn’t a controller that I’ve seen before, so it looks ok. (hope it’s not a chinese one).
It’s the standard hong kong type price, it’s an ok deal… check their shipping costs, postage is a killer out of HK.

They are a lot of fun these little choppers, they’re reasonablly indestructable.
One word of warning….. spend LOTS and LOTS of time practice flying on a simulator first. it’ll save you lots of money in rotor blades 🙂
RC helicopters are harder to fly than real ones.
I can fly both and know my vote is with the big ones 🙂

yep… the wholesalers in HK and Taiwan that I know stock them. I’m not sure how much they sell them for. I know that spare parts for them are also cheap, with a set of main blades costing only $20, and they don’t break very often (unless your a really bad pilot).

See if I can find a web page with them and I’ll let you know how cheap I can get them for you when I get back into australia. (I’m in East timor atm).

This is the FEDA dragonfly.. very good chopper, very bad eletronics.

also check my webshots page … trash0

These ones are made in Hong Kong I think… they look good but are expensive.

Another type of UFO and Ikarus are good choppers
    http://www.waigohobby.com/helicopter_menu.htm

I saw something about RC robots for $160 aud.
gimme a couple of days to find them again.

Ah, that was quick… one of the wholesalers in HK says he can do one for $230usd + shipping.
That is with a GWS radio, which are good, but I don’t know about the ESC. I asked him if it was still the same crappy one, but he sent me a picture of a different one to the one I have.
I’d prefer to see it running before buying one knowing the trouble I had with the previous FEDA board.

I’ve been using it for about 3 years now.
It works for me. But like any good tool, you got to know how to use it properly.

I used to snipe people manualy, and be damned if I wasn’t good at it. Then I discovered da sniper and now it’s all automatic. Problem is now that there are a lot more people who use the sniper, so your tactics have to change.

If somebody is going to bid a high price, then it isn’t worth bidding against them in the first place, and the sniper can’t help.

I also case out every bidder that is bidding against me and look at their history to workout how they bid. I also watch key people who find good stuff for me… like a search engine 🙂
    Then snipe them.

You can see snipe bids because they’re in the last few seconds. Some people think that the server is really fast and can do it instantly…
a 1 second margin is just cutting it too finely, especially for peak times.

You then have a way of hitting snipers too.
Bid just a little earlier… like 30 seconds.
It doesn’t give them enough time to change a snipe and if you both bid $10, then first in at the same price gets the win.

I will also dummy bid. Placing a bid that is low but close. When people look at my history, they will see lots of items that weren’t bid late.
So I look like a normal bidder, unless they look closer at what I have won. Then they will find that a lot are in the last few seconds. But even then you can throw them off by only using the sniper for stuff that you want, and not using it for bids you don’t really care about.

I don’t always get what I want, but when I really want it, then I have a better chance than most 🙂

besides… I get free snipes if I refer people.

Ok…. something doesn’t look right there.
The first thing I notice is the controler is 2 channel. The second is that it’s a dragonfly chassis, but the main rotor doesn’t seem to have the cyclic control on it. (which would confirm only 2 channels)
I have 2 of the real 4 channel hellicopters and their electronics are the worst of the worst that I have seen out of china since 2 bob watches.

The good news is that this basic chassis is what wing n things use for their dragonfly… but they do not use the crap chinese eletronics, instead they put their own picilo electronics and gyro in them. They then sell them for $800. ouch ! And I’m not even sure that includes the radio.
The same ones in HK sell for $200aud with everything ready to go. The 4ch chopper flys well if you already know how to fly RC choppers (this in not easy) so the mechanics of them are good.
Anything that has a chinese sounding name on the RC controller…. ave your cash until quality control gets a kick in the head.

I was looking in one of the local shops here today (bangkok) … they are selling A40’s for $120 aud, and they don’t keep spares.
I’m working on a way of getting these critters past customs as cheaply as possible… since they hit me up hard last time.

Thinking about it, east coast people could pick up the $99 virgin flights, and the busses run for about $25 between capital cities.
The train runs from Sydney to Canberra which I think is a nice comfortable run, XPT from melbourne is slow and you’d change at goulburn.
What a waste of time when flying is cheaper than train.
From perth you’d be looking at the cheap plane tickets being about $200. An that is probably one way.
From tassie you’ll have to swim the first leg 🙂

Yep, I’ll see what I can do when I get back to Oz Cavo. I’ll get a whole heap of stuff in and have a look at the electronics too. will be a few weeks yet, but I have already started the ball rolling, I’ve told the wholesaler what I expect from him and I’ll encourage him with a goodsized order 🙂

I haven’t been to tinyrc.com … I’ll have to get a look at it when it’s all back up.

I do however have an idea how you can push the person under the proverbial bus. Keep ALL you spam emails, especially taking note of the headers. Create a webmail account somewhere and forward all that spam to it and compare the email headers from each person. You’ll soon discover which ISP is hosting the source of the spam. Depending on which contry they are in, you can enlist the help of that ISP either volunteerly, or by force. In Australia, spam is illegal these days and if the ISP doesn’t want to co-operate, the federal police are more than happy to provide them with the motivation.
It may of course be a zombie sending the spam, but even then zombies and proxies can also help trace the soruce.

    B29’s at $38… that’s a bargan… snap them up.
Wings and things sells them for $180 and the best I can get them here for is about $100 and they cost about $70-80 on the street in HK.
I know that the factories make most planes in china for about $10-30aud. but the problem is they only do wholesale and you have to order like 1000 minimum. By the time you get them in a container and customs is finished with you…. you’re much poorer than you ever expected. Doh !
I have a B29 already, they’re awesome to see flying, but they don’t turn like an A40 or Dragonfly 🙂 With all four engines running they sound good.

umm… I’m not sure who does it these days, but you could contact some of the courier companies like TNT,Fed-Ex etc Best bet is do a search for courier flights. It’s a good way to get a weekend in another country. Tokyo, LA, NY, HK are common courier drops from Sydney. Watch out for the sharks though. There are some companies that like to take advantage of people. Sus them out carefully.

Yeah, dick smith do have them, it helps if you have a catalog number for the brain dead staff at DSE. I find it’s morally wrong not to take advantage of their stupidity and quite often they ring up cheaper prices on the register for items.
The battery packs are 9.6V. Have a look around the radio control section, or just ask them where their radio control battery packs are. If they’re there, then you should have no trouble finding them, especially in a super center.
Sorry , I don’t have the cat number on me at the moment.
You can charge them of a car battery lighter plug. A 10V regulated/reduced supply will work just fine. I just use 4 power diodes and a big arse low value resistor in series to drop the voltage, but I keep my eye on it and don’t let it overheat.

I’m serious, you can get to HK via other destinations if you’re prepared to look for them.
One of the easiest is to go as a courier.
You won’t be able to move luggage, but you can post stuff once your there. It’ll cost you about $300, put your clothes for 2 days in a carry on back pack and away you go. When you get there, just buy cloths … they’re cheap.
Then when it’s time to leave, you put everything in a box and send it surface mail home. back on the plane with only carry on bag. So easy.

The other option is to pick a different route and look for specials. Singapore and KL are good places to go via. Occasionally a discount airline will offer special tickets. I got one with Egypt Air to singapore for $350 out of Sydney. From there I bused it up to KL, Penang, Hat Yai in Thailand, Bangkok.. from there I got a cheap $120 airfare to HK, then I caught the train to Guangzhau and onto Bejing. I could have keep going on to Europe for a couple of hundred dollars more, but I ran out of time and headed south back through Laos into Thailand and another cheap airfare out of Bangkok to Singapore for $100.

The places to look for hubs for airfares to Asia are ….
Anything out of Bangkok is cheap, anything going in is expensive.
KL is trying to attract more european airlines to stop over. Emrites is one to look out for.
Singapore occasionally has some good fares, but booking a flight directly there is a waste of time unless it is out of perth.
Wait for another SAR’s outbreak, and flights into HK will be cheap again. But that’s a personal choice. Some chinese have a spitting and coughing issue, but spitting is banned in HK.
Then you can try for the weird stuff.
Look for Vietnam airlines, occasionally have deals and it isn’t far to overland it to HK.
Air China occasionally has specials, or China Air (different airline) go via Taipei.
You might also get a deal via Philipeans or Brunei, but these are rare. Also keep an eye on JAL and ANA … it’s the long way around, but sometimes they just want to fill seats.
The final act of deperation is to go overland to darwin and fly air north to Dili, East Timor.
From there you can go overland/sea through Indonesia, Singapore all the way to the UK if you like.
The airfare from Darwin to Dili is about $250 one way. Indonesia isn’t exactly a friendly country at the moment. But it’s mainly Jakarta.

Yep, I get 5 minutes if I’m power on all the time.
If I’m conservative with the juice and flying for performance I can get 15 minutes without much effort. My best is about 20-25 minutes using thermals.
Have a search for the ‘flight school’ thread… I think there was some interesting stuff in there.

    Wow, that’s a cool weapon !
The dude in the picture is a customs agent.
Having dealt with customs many times before…
(NOT GUILTY YOU HONOUR !) you get to know them.
Customs aren’t too bad… I’m generally nice to the people who have the power to screw you over big time if they don’t like you.
AQIS – Quarentine are a lot tougher. They’re not bad people but I still think they should be.
One big bad arse knife isn’t really going to hurt anybody… it’s a little hard to conceil in public. But a screw worm fly … that would devistate this country.

Drugs in this country.. interesting topic.

Crack is very rare here, even out stupid people are smart enough to steer clear of it.
Having said that Cocaine is out largest seized drug by customs. Customs usually stops about 10 tonnes of Herion a year from entering the country, they usually stop about 100 tonnes of Coke ! An absolutely amazing amount given that cocaine is not all the popular here either.
It’s basically an upper class drug.

Herion is not hard to get here, but it really isn’t all that much of a problem. It’s usually lower class heavy dope smokers that get caught up in it. The real bottom end, but you occasionally hear of some middle class unemployed artists dying from overdoses. Quite funny to know that Tasmania produces quite a bit of legal morphine for medicine, and opium poppies grow wild all over the country.

Pot/dope is quite common and quite a few people smoke it. It seems to be occasional recreational use by middle and upper classes, and you see some cronic lower class smokers like in the USA.

MDMA ‘Extacy’ is quite common and popular.
It recieves a lot of publicity, the govt and media try to give it a bad name, but when they make up stories, they loose credibility and it only serves to make it more popular.

Speed and Anphetamines are quite common too.
It’s the bikie gangs that make and destribute the stuff. It’s probably our second most popular illicit drug.

LSD is rather rare these days since MDMA.
    It used to be common.

PCP and other weird freak fringe drugs are non existant.

There is a time and a place for everything kiddies, and it’s called, “University” M’okaay !
    🙂
