you think thats cool, have a search for the substance called aerogel. it’s called solid smoke by some as well. nasa developed it and seems very alien inspired technology.

it is very lite, works like a highly efficient capacitor and is opaque like smoke when made on earth. they have made some batches in space and it is almost perfectly clear. and it shatters too.

on discovery channels “junkyard wars” once two teams built a 1:1 car rigged up with servos and ramming weapons and had a remote control madmax style car war. it was awesome! the winning car mannadged to cripple the other by piercing the main control box on the drivers seat.

search for it on the net, the people who made it have released it on the web.

its appaling paying $30 for a video or dvd for a couple of episodes when the series is (i think) 12 eps. long.

like ninja scroll, sbs and world movies (austar) play it once a year. tape it man!

another funny one i saw years ago was the giggilo. did you ever see that? soooo funny!!!

thanx, i was asking this because i have heard that leaving your motors all bunched together side by side can damadge them.

even if it isn’t totally true they look neater when separated by a block of foam with holes cut in it…

    thanx alot ua.

so if the wire inside the motor is resposible for the motor power through eloctromagnetic force, does this mean that the windings in the mesh can be damadged by contact with other motors and magnets?

what i’m asking in simplified words is can the wire inside be permanatly magnetized? and would this affect performance?

nice baby pic, i wonder if it has a habit of dooing that?

i wish i had thought of the dual axle sooner. but the work has been completed and i’m not going to redo the paintjob.

maybe i’ll revisit this idea when i run out of other projects tho..

when i was staying down south in berry with my family a couple of months back we copped 140kmph winds, next door lost their roof and one person locally was killed. we had the power out for three days! the health department issued statements about food and water contamination and safety, it was pretty rough for a few days…

thank tomy for battery powered bits though… they saved us from death by boredom!

has anyone noticed the crab on the lxx perfection rx6c chip yet? it’s pretty small but definatly there! (claws in the air) isnt there a bit of history with the chip pictures?

these awesome air shots inspired me to have a go building a monster(i finally had a go!), it aint that beasty but it goes good. it is made with a tomy sbcg chassis so the monster rims and 12:1 rear monster axle are easily swapped for some racing wheels (BONUS!). i used a lego racer $5 set for the tyres and it runes with a perfection 4.2. i need some fets tho cos the steering and power needs more boost.

i’ve seen a bit of orphen on cartoon network as well as trigun (they were on tonight!) and i wasn’t too impressed by either.

the funniest manga i’ve seen latly has been chobits. a freing got it for free off the net and it is extremely halarious. it is about a guy who finds an advanced “persocon” (humanoid computer) with a missing memmory in the garbage and takes it home. it was subtitled but that added to the jokes.

another good anime i have seen recently was metropolis. it is a japanese remake of the classic silent sci-fi and is done very well.

i’m thinking the loosness or idling ability is due to a different construction method, anyone clued in on how the micro motors are made?

i got a bit of flooding last night, the pond in the backyard covered a third of the lawn. it’s now drained out to max capacity. a tree lost a huge branch and took out half of another tree.

the wind got big about three in the morning and we lost power for a couple of minutes (strange). i live near the easternmost point of australia, byron bay and was expecting 130kmph winds but nothing that bad hit.

very sunny today and calm, not a cloud in the sky.

a turtle turned up in the pond tho! it was a plus to see that the water had conected the pond to the creek for a couple of hours. i must have got a few free native fish too.

i’ve heard on another forum that the weathers gone a bit strange in the u.s also. things all normal where u at dt?

considering the context this thread is taking i’ve been noticing that certain clone motors behave very different to the tomy ones.
i prefer the clone ones because of what i termed “roll” factor, that is a tomy motor when not suplied with power tends to stop (resist) the the forward momentum of the bit whereas my clone ones idle and allow a gradual loss of momentum.

this rolling/idling is so benificial to acheive different degrees of steering on my tracks. the tomy motors just dont keep going like the clone ones, regardless of gear set up…

    any ideas?

ok the sbcg yellow gears are 12:1 as well and the red ones are 8.25:1.

and just to complete this set of information a standard bit axle (orange) is 9.86:1.

with the motor ratings is it per second or minute? e.g. 1.0 = 1000 rpm
