Yes full marks. Looks realy nice.
The barriers look kinda like mine, nice smooth radius’
And the grass looks kinda similar too.
Yeah, I’d agree with Dave, 17 – 18cm is good. Mine ended up being 19 which is quite OK.
All depends on what you want I guess, but I would make all the inside radius of the corners similar to (or a bit smaller) the turning radius of the cars.
Eliminates a little of the skill needed, but also makes it easier and therfore more fun for more people.
Reminds me of the Nissan Pulsar ad on tv where they squeeze the bigger donk in and push the bonnet down!!
Looks like a good job, well done
The modifier wheels are a fairly straight forward mod, fronts especialy and I think they look fairly neat too.
I just need to fine tune the mounting of the hubs onto the rear axel. I was thinking even a thin layer of solder may do the trick to build it up enough.
I’ll confirm a little later with exact numbers etc Dave, but at this stage I would guess that I could have 1 or 2 likely drivers who would join me for the trip down.
It wouldn’t be too bad to tie our race day in with some other event that is coming up like a ‘big’ car car show or something.
Just thinking if we could raise the profile a little at the same time.
Dave, we could always have races in different directions on each track too.
We could veven have a hill climb by tilting the track/s slightly (one piece tracks obviously)
For a trophy we could just give people plates like Targa Tas. I’m sure we could come up with someting imaginative to put on it. Paint ’em Bronze, Silver and Gold and there you go!!
The options are only restricted by our imagination I guess.
As for the Esk River sludge, it doesn’t phase me as I generally only drink burbon (Wild Turkey 😀 hence: Turkey Hill Raceway)
These ones are called Modifiers actually. The wheels in question came with the white 1999 Honda Civic EX kit.
They weren’t cheap coz I had to buy the whole car obviously to get the bigger wheels and the hubs.
Not many of the other part are usefull sadly apart from perhaps the really small decals and perhaps the exhaust. I thought the remaining spare pieces (racing seats, air cleaner, original wheels, springs etc.) may make reasonable ‘props’ to leave laying around in the little workshop on my track layout.
Cost was around the $25.00 mark from K-Mart, so not a cheap mod by any means, but I think they look sweet.
Only drawback is the tyre compound is really hard, much harder than standard BCG rubber and therfore I don’t think the car will stick very well at all.
Due to the size the wheels the car hardly needs lowering which is cool.
I havn’t finished modifying the front guards yet to be able to give a final verdict on performance, but stay posted and I will let you know.
I’m all for it too.
My track is available any time, I’m in Devonport and have a good size area at home for my track and a few extra bodies, only problem I have is transporting my track too far (unless I can put it in the back of my work ute)
How awesome would it be to get all the different tracks together in one the location at the same time!!!
We could even run it like the real Targa with cumulative time/points for the various tracks.
Due to distances, a weekend would be my prefered option to get down to Slobart. But Launceston wouldn’t be a big problem for a weeknight.
Thanks ph2t, I shall take some better pics and post with a bit better close up of the wheels etc. They are quite well detailed.
Quote:Yeah, That’ll dock close to my place (20 minute walk, 5 minute car ride). Then bus to HSVs area of the world, and catch the spirit 1 or 2 back to the North island.Well, the logistics are worked oiut, now all we need is sponsorship, venues, media coverage, a grant from the Bacon Govt, sports Aus, and Cascade.

Sounds like a fantastic idea Dave, Only one problem, Cascade, that stuff really is tiger p!$$ you know. (Tasmanian joke guys North / South beer drinking tastes are a touchy subject with us Tasmanians)
Actually here’s an idea, we could call it Tar-G-a Tasmania
Thanks for the earlier comments on my track Dave, it is getting there slowly, I have nearly finished applying all the barrier logos and stenciling/painting starting grid, so hopefully by next week I will have a heap more pics.
I have seen the new “Series 2” Compacts advertised in the Harris Scarfe catalog just yesterday for $39.95 which is a good price.
And they also were selling them at K-Mart in Devonport (Tasmania)at $49.95 (less whatever % sale discount I guess).
Strange thing was that in K-Mart they only had the 4 different empty boxes on the shelf with a note to ask staff for the items.
They are really becoming a popular little item!
They also had the micro HRT and HSV cars in there at $39.95.
Can’t wait to get one (or a few).
Should be a good base to work with if nothing else.
Set of alloy rims, new paint job and dump it right down on it’s guts!!!:D
Aaron wrote that there is a GST Coupe, so basically yes there is a Monaro, but perhaps with the additional HSV body kit pieces.
Anyone seen them on the shelves yet??
If so whereabouts?
More information please!!

Count me in too!!
Count me in too!!
Not a problem!!
GT-ahh, that is one thing us mortals may never know!!!
I do know that it doesn’t stick there forever though!
As for using heatshrink, it may be hard to find the exact right size. Depending on how loose, two layers may be the go.
A bit of trial and error I guess.
Would some Heat Shrink tubing be any good??
Failing that some small diameter plastic tube, perhaps the really small stuff from inside a cigarette lighter perhaps?
Some sheilded audio cables (often the stuff used in amature Radio gear I think) are made from Teflon. That may be good. The teflon would have very little friction compared to some other materials.
Cool.
Thanks for all your great work Aaron.
As ph2t said, it definately doesn’t go un noticed!!!
Aaron,
I tried applying, but for some reason when I try to logon to upload pics, it comes up with ‘Incorrect Password, Try Again’
Do I have to wait for you to approve my application before I can do anything more, or is there still a few little gremlins in the system??
Other than that, this will be an AWESOME addition to ausmicro.com. 😀
As one of the conditions, it states that we are not to link to our images from outside ausmicro, so as I would understand, this does allow us to insert our images from our galleries into our forum posts within ausmicro??
Some greeting / birthday cards have those little tiny gadgets in em that make noises or play short songs.
They would definately be small enough, just a matter of finding one that has something appropriate for a car.
I remember hearing / seeing one that played a ridiculous laugh over and over again, perhaps that may demoralise the opposition or make em wet themselves perhaps.
Even one that makes fart sounds could be funny, so long as its not associated with a scratch and sniff Bit :clown:
Nifty idea using the tilt switch, sort of a sleeper mod really.:smiley16:
Fantastic, bring it on!!
Yeah, looks great, heaps of avatars out ther to ponder over.
Must . . . keep . . . . searching . . . . . . . .
PS, is it just me or is the quick reply missing?
