I think we were talking about the dry-erase boards…ya know, the “high-tech” chalkboard replacement.

Although, posterboard could make a decent surface and is very lightweight, but is difficult to get in “huge” sizes.

Or you can get foam board from any hobby/craft store. Only comes in “posterboard” size, but you can always use more than one, and they are light as a feather.. a BIG feather that is.. :smiley8:

My suggestions would be to do a combination of the following

• Post a message to the newsgroup aus.cars(refer Google) stating what you’re after;
• Email me offline with the details. One of the guys inClub DUH!(a car club associated with aus.cars) is associated with one of the WRX Australia Rally teams down here (hence my interest in ZeroBXU’s decals). I’ll pass on your details and see what he can come up with for you;
• Contact some of the WRX Owner Clubs in Oz directly and see what’s available.

Good call on the “shadow effect”. I’ve seen it done before, and it can be very effective. And Pigma Micron 005 pens do actually come in about a half-dozen colors. I haven’t had any personal experience other than black pens, though.

And stop eating artists–in their minds, it just gets them out of paying rent.

To each his own and I think it could look good if the panel lines were more like a shadow effect. However,many of the ones I have seen just use a magic marker to fill in the lines and end up marking much of the body panels too :smiley13:

Actually, here’s another idea…use a color close to the body color, just a bit darker. That would show the details a bit more, but wouldn’t show them too well. If you’re doing a custom paint job anyway, it shouldn’t be difficult…spray some of the paint into a cup, add a little black, mix, and paint.

Dave – is there any good spots to find these HO bodies cheap online? If I was going to do this, I’d have to go through a couple cheap throwaway bodies before I ever got to something I’d take out in daylight. Oh… and I’ve gotta drive about 300 miles to get a dremel from my father.

ylexot – I totally understand your point-of-view on the panel lines. Here’s my justification–just for the flip side of the argument. It makes it look less like a shiny one-piece-mold of plastic, and a little more… intricate? The average observer isn’t sure if that’s one piece of plastic… or does that body maybe have a seperate hood? If you do it right,it can really shine.Besides, with the line thickness of the pen only at 0.2 mm, it’s not like a big, neon sign flashing from 20 feet away saying “This Guy Filled In His Lines With A Pen.” Of course, if I was trying to make it look like some sort of fiberglass racing body, I’d probably fill in the panel lines with putty and paint over them. Who knows.

That’s the beauty of individual expression–each person does what works best for them.

For the studdering problem (you all thought I’d answer “speech therapy“, didn’t you?), you might want to check to make sure it doesn’t have the infamous “cripple capacitor”. Odds are that the WRX does. Do a quick search for “capacitor” in these forums and visit the AUSMICRO Technical Tips for a pictoral walkthrough of this Johnny-capacitor-come-lately Bit-killer.

I am VERY surprised you didn’t find”the” capacitor in the controller. Until now, evidence suggested that all the newer controllers (Spec. Eds. and later) had them. Now there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. I assume you looked at the pictures to show which capacitor it is? Ya never know…

Personally, I wouldn’t bother with the DigiQ or see if you can drive one before you buy it (maybe the shopworker has one). The majority of people that I have seen that tried both prefer the Bit, but there are some that prefer the Digi. Just don’t want you spending that much money if money is tight and you could buy 2 Bits for the price of one Digi :smiley2:

I had to promise Derek that he could have my kidney, part of my liver, and three fingers if he was ever ina bad accident. Although I didn’t tell him, my liver can’t be worth all that much…

Honestly? I have no idea. If I had to guess, it was out of some sort of mutual respect between The Admiral’s Lair and AUSMICRO.com. Derek (and Aaron) and I were all in the “building phase” of our websites at the same time and I think that may have helped both sites a little (or, in the case of my site, it helped a lot).

…either that, or it was my post count and the fact I’m trying to introduce him to “Cowboy Bebop”.

Once again, try the hardware store :smiley2:. Look in the panelling section. You can usually get 4×8 panels made of masonite with a shiny painted surface that looks suspiciously like a whiteboard. My dad has actually made several whiteboards out of this stuff. I’d guess a price around $20 USD.

In that case, maybe you should go with the TS. Actually, I have the 2002 RS, so I don’t have the WRX power, but it has plenty as is (and I have modded it ). The TS will save you about $6k, but you will be giving up some stuff like:

• “stiff” suspension (the WRX wagon isn’t as stiff as the sedan and the TS has an even mushier suspension)
• rear disk brakes
• stock fog lights (not a big deal…aftermarkets are better and cheaper if you want them)
• Aluminum hood w/ scoop (I just want the light weight…but they do ding easily from what I hear)
• there is probably other stuff (RS didn’t come with a trunk light :smiley5:)

If nothing else, follow the lead of ZeroBXU and add some panel lines to your car. Quick Easy. Very effective.

So many things can cause stuttering in a Char-G including, loose wiring, dodgy battery, dodgy motor, dodgy controller, general RF interferance in and around your race track, and so on. The moral of this issue is “DON’T PANIC!” (rip Douglas Adams) – quite often it’s just a painful game of incremental testing and experimentation before you’re firing on all cylinders. Of course, if the car is just a piece of crap straight outta the shop….well… you know what to do.

• What sort of batteries are in the controller/charger? Condition of these batteries?
• Any corrosion/damage to the metal charging terminals on the bottom of the car?
