what surface? if you’re running it on carpet that sounds about right…

I’ve found that the stock white springs aren’t all the same- the one in my 27MHz chassis that came with my initial D set is a lot stiffer than the one from my loctite Skyline. Anyone else noticed something like this?

It’s HIGHLY likely that the little magnet in the steering assembly is slightly off-centre. It is held by a VERY weak adhesive in the steering arm – too many hard jolts can knock it out of place.

Refer to the images on this page for a bit of a guide to disassembly of the front-end. You may want to pull it apart and re-glue the magnet into position.

BUT PLEASE heed the words of wisdom from your fellow members – TAKE YOUR TIME and work on a CLEAN SURFACE. There are some seriously small parts in there and you DON’T want to lose that steering return spring.

Hey Prabbit, I tried driving my bitcharg on my pool table but I noticed that the runtime got shortened, and it seems like my bit go slower on my pool table than on the hardwood floor. Maybe the pool table felt is kinda soft and requires more torque to drive on it thus shortening the runtime?

anyone knows how to fix it? The steering of my bitcharg is fine but it just goes to the right a little when I push forward, its very annoying, so someone please help me out!

Yep – only problem is PRICE (at least here in Oz, anyway).

I build/modify my Char-Gs (and other RC stuff) on a small (3’x2′) whiteboard because it’s easy to clean, has a wooden frame to keep things from falling off and the high-contrast surface makes spotting little parts really easy to do (Shard – are you reading this? :smiley2:)

Of course, a 3′ (90cm) run is NOWHERE near long enough to really give a Char-G a run. But, you can see just how well the standard tires grip to the shiny surface and how well the car slides out on the hight turns.

If only I could find 8’x8′ whiteboards at a reasonable price :smiley3:

If you remove your stock sway bar and look at it from the front or back, it should look like this…

Take a hobby knife and shafe the little ridge away on each sideso that it looks like this:

That will make it just a little softer. I noticed that my turning radius at high speed with a 3.0 motor is just a little better now. The car still flips if I try to use the sticky tires on the front though.

TiburonGT – FWIW, I’m yet to be able to find a suspension/race surface/motor combination to allow me to do effective Bit Char-G drifting.

Each and every time I decide to have another go, I just end up spinning around in tight circles. But as Zero suggested, perhaps a tight-weave carpet or felt surface might be what you need.

If, however, you have an image hosted elsewhere just refer to this page which explains how to embed an image in a forum post. It’s a fairly simple method of using[ url ] http://www.resourcelocation.com/imagename.jpg [ /url ]… without the spaces before and after the “url” tag bracket.

Well, it might just do that, if you had the right surface, but on a slick desk it’s just a “doughnut machine”. That was the 1.0 motor in there by the way.

And one more thing about the drift axle–it runs much better on carpet. I was chasing my cockatiel (Admiral Byrd the Bird) around with it. Unfortunately, the bird can fly, the carcannot. I should’ve gotten a movie of that!

Well, for what it’s worth, Aaron, I’ll give you the highest praise I can think of: if you’ve had any problems, we haven’t seen ’em–things are working great on this side. Totally transparent.

jojo–poke around the pictures on this page, and take a look at The Admiral’s Lair.

Are they worth it? Totally. And reasonably cheap, too (compared to other R/C products). Run-time is better than advertised. Minimum run-time is more like 4 minutes, but I’ve heard people quoting run-times of up to 15 minutes.

The Taiyo Radi-Cans are probably the most expensive and best made version of the ‘car-in-can’ concept. They are the orginals. I have a couple of Classic models which are excellent. The problem is the cheaper versions just price the good deatiled ones out of the water!

*laughs* I dunno – I’ll check the code for that! To be honest I haven’t dug much into that side of the feature set of the code. I’ve been more concerned with making it work well enough for us and preparing to integrate it into the new site design.

hey, by drift, u don’t mean just doing donuts, do u? cause it’ll do donuts real easily if u just take off the rear tires… but i’m hoping that’s not the case cause i already toldmydad to buy the drift set gs-04. and the 2.6 motor will work fine for it right? cause i’m hearing a lotta u say that a 3.0 or 3.8 is best on a smooth surface.
