sounds like a good deal and a good set of upgrades.:8ball:
geo, the surface is smooth as, laid in one go tarmac. it’s just the wet patches that make it look uneven. although i wish there was something wrong with the surface, then i’d have an excuse for my bad driving!:D
certainly was a bit of carnage, but nothing we couldn’t handle. great to meet virgin atlantic and see some nutso drifting, great day for it!
of course there’s vid of the race i did the worst in!:8ball:the first kits i got was a fm microphone and a multi meter. any of the kits from dick smith or jaycar are worth buying as they have little booklets explaining the basics of the components and soldering tips. there’s lots to choose from so you’ll find something you’ll like:8ball:
yup, i’m looking at sunshine! hope to see ya’ll there!:8ball:
too many items to list! have a look here for an idea http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/default.php?cPath=144_21
all prices are in us$:8ball:
regardless of the steering being motor or magnet actuated, i’m sure the pcb can be replaced with a bcg or stunt twister pcb. maybe even a zzse would work too. i’m just guessing here, but it looks like a safe call so far:8ball:
Quote:wow.. how expensive does this hobby get..i’m still wiping tears of laughter from my eyes!:D
man with a double espresso in ya and a fully loaded credit card you could blow $700 on a single mini z alone, maybe more!:8ball:
ok, i’ll write what we’re all thinking!:smiley2:
firstly, welcome to tha firm race ya! nice to see new faces (you know what i mean!)
and second, we’ve discussed the iwaver at length already, have a hunt in the mini z technical and discussion forums. and while you’re there have a good look around the forum and familiarise yourself with the categories. there’s tons of usefull hints and tips for your evil pleasure!:D:8ball:
weather report for tomorrow is better than today’s and it didn’t rain much. so all is good, just dress warm as standing still in the cold can cause irreversible damage to boy bits!:8ball:
we’re getting to the end of a season now. avo’s were crap this year, as was a lot of fruit and veg. blame the drought (and supermarkets for buying crap produce making crap growers richer):8ball:
it certainly is a mystery!:D:8ball:
gotta pick you up on this merc. i never even completed yr10. a piece of paper with fancy numbers won’t design a curcuit:8ball:
i’m thinking if i remove the seed i can fit about 8 bit cells in it and i’ll put a 130 motor in it. i’ll strap some garlic and lemon to the front and ram it into a wall, fastest guacamole in the southern hemisphere!:D:8ball:
and if there’s any requests for show and tell speak up. i’m not gonna bother with the camera and bits this time unless someone wants to see any of it:8ball:
‘cos 2f2f is a wank! i’ll do everything i can to avoid representing that slop! i like my stuff to look like my stuff:8ball:
i think your next purchase will be a faster motor. and if the z doesn’t come with different sized pinions (it should) then look into them:8ball:
i’m in, we can always rc up some paper boats if the weather turns nasty!:D:8ball:
aaaaaaaaaaand we’re back! there’s a couple of things i really could have done better like the crooked front grill and those tail lights just aint quite right. but stuff it, i wanna trash it now!:p i threw a blue led under the hood to light up the chassis so it shines through the grills in a pimpin stylee! making plates was easy, print them up on marker paper (non bleeding). then i smeared some super glue on a tackle box (super glue won’t stick to this stuff) and placed the paper face down in the glue. smear more on the back and allow to dry (about 1 – 2 mins). peel it off, cut em out and there ya have it, poor man’s laminate!:D
i staged the crap outta these first pics by removing the shocks for that lowrider look and used some stealthy black wheels and nuts to finish it off.
and this is what it looks like for real
so not as stealthy as i first planned, but these things always take a few detours along the way!:8ball:
cf and graphite seem to mean the same thing with z parts. they are available in sets of 3 from all good hobby shops, both online and off. i’d recomend buying a set as i broke 2 h plates in the first week of owning my i waver (1 stock and 1 kyosho plastic). yeah racing make quality products, nuff said! and you should find alloy nuts at rcmart too:8ball:
zz hub caps are designed to be used with zz wheels. and bcg’s are designed to drive on tabletops. see where i’m going with this? i’ve never tried it but with a little grinding and glueing i’ll bet it can be done. and when someone says “don’t bother it’s too hard” then prove em wrong!:8ball:
not really, i’m not bothered about it. i got an email about 2 months ago saying it will be sent within the week. if it’s coming via surface then it’s probably all good. but imagine if someone else won and got nothing, they’d be cranky buggers by now!:8ball:
bearings is number 1 on that list. then get alloy wheelnuts, wide wheels and tyres. that will get you going til you bust something, most likely on the front end.:8ball:
electronics shops like jaycar:8ball:
http://www1.jaycar.com.au/my first impressions are here http://www.ausmicro.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2164&FORUM_ID=13&CAT_ID=4&Topic_Title=i+waver%2C+you+waver%2E%2E%2E%2E%2E&Forum_Title=Mini%2DZ%2C+Mini%2DX%2C+X%2DMods+%2D+Technical
in a nutshell, they’re 1/4 the price of a kyosho and about 1/2 the quality. parts break quicker but are replaceable with all mr01 parts. i like mine:8ball:
