These things are coool, they have 5 speed forward control and steering. Lots of fun, but war games seem very biased with that damn tiger tank. You have to be quite skilled to win with the sherman, even my dad beat me and he’s a gumby at it lol.

noted.:smiley2: i’m fully aware that the high price is a result of people charging what they have to for all those reasons you mentioned panda, it’s a shame it has to be that way as aaron stated, cost was the main reason i hadn’t ventured into the rc world. even i knew that the top of the line rc’s from dse or tandy are pretty crappy and likely to fail drastically therefore dissapointing the buyer. but i wouldn’t be into the hobby if it wasn’t for $15 clones being sold at the melb show.
like trash was saying, most rc toys are better bought on the net, but you can’t beat walking into a hobby shop and talking to the staff, as opposed to dse, etc where the staff don’t know what they’re selling. i buy all my little supplies at the lhs even if it’s a bit pricey, it’s a bargain when you factor in a face to face conversation with someone knowledgable in the area.:8ball:

Try buying various components from there! Nightmare, especially when you get a female cashier (that was not meant to be sexist, just a fact). I usually go to jaycar. I used know a bloke that works there who gives me insane deals, if something is under 5 bucks he cbf scanning it so he just gives it to me. Once i made a digital tacho with 20 high intencity LEDs, 2 LM3914’s, a TLC555 and a few more bits. Total value was around $65 but i only paid $5!!!!!

There is only a certain amount of ‘space’ or ‘capacity’ for wire, the thicker the wire, the less turns you can fit on, the more power you have, the sooner the motor + batteries shit themselves.

my 4.2 has more torque than any of the motors i have, shen pinks, a tomy 2.2 and tomy 3.0.

it might be a meshing problem, but it actually spins so fast that it doesnt spin the gears for a second, it just churns.

WHAT? You mean it slips or the gear mesh is screwed right??

Usually only RC, but i’m not sure.

Most 1/10 ‘540’ use different variations of turns and strands. I have a 14×2 540 motor, which means there are 2 strands of wire, looped 14 times around each pole piece on the armature.

Different strand counts vary to give different power/torque curves etc.

I have never used an NML, but they look plain crap! plasma is a well built motor MADE IN JAPAN and costs a mere $12AUD. Slap in some bb’s, spacers and neodymium magnets, rewind it with under 20 turns and you have the best FA-130 motor in the world for less than half the price of an NML. The rumours about excessive heat generation from the plasma is UTTER CRAP!!! Mine runs hot with the stock motor clip, , because it insulates the motor and traps the heat in, but whack on a heatsink and it runs cool. I just upgraded my motor sink to a big 4fin that sticks out the back window. Looks tuff and keeps the motor very cool.

…Well done Jamie…Im glad its YOUR z and not mine !! lol…BTW that Plasma is 25,000 rpm right…Did i EVER tell you about the 50,000 ones we have here ?

    MUAWAHAHAHAHAAA:evil:

50,000 RPM??? HAHA PATHETIC!!!! Motor RPM increases with voltage, my plasma revs much higher than that, though the neodymium magnets reduced RPM but boosted torque dramatically.
