1.2… you know me, I like a little more speed… and it’s probably more like 4×4 metres, not 4×5. TD; will be this afternoon, my slower MR-01 chassis no more… just a few parts, ie. titanium, aluminium, some carbon. I need to keep a better hold on my temper…

Does this mean servo fix/clean no longer required ?

Be interesting how the body clips and front tab are going to be made.

I’ve seen other custom bodies use some light weight balsa wood shaped and glued to the front of the body to accept the front tab.

And for the body clips, would you rip them out of an old banged up i-waver shell ?

Or would you use adhesive velcro strips ?

Hmm.. can you make side body clips out of those listerine pocketpaks ?

can you be more specific with the “issues” part dude??

He might be getting meshing issues between 1 and 2 by the way his post is written. If memory serves me correctly, he’s got delrin 2 and 3.

Not sure of the brand though, Kyosho ?

I think it would make it easier to shop with him if he provided a list of the things that he can get a hold of in Japan.

Half the time I don’t know what I really want until I see a photo and a description of it and say – hey that could come in handy some day or wow that’s nice, gotta get me a set of those.
    🙂

Either way, let me know when you’re next placing an order with your supplier. I’ve got a couple of things that I wouldn’t mind getting.

although this is a toyeast topic, I think they have competition floating round this topic, so i’m out. Going with my usual supplier, if he’ll reply…!!

I’ve always wondered whether we could do a group order with your supplier particularly for hard to find bits and pieces which can only be sourced from Japan.

Bought a “Colgate Power” toothbrush last week, $10 and even comes with 2 new Energizer AAs.

Pulled it apart and found a perfectly good 180 motor in that – spot-on replacement for HPI MicroRS4 or Tamiya Tamtech.

Can’t beat it for that kind of $. 🙂

I’ve been wondering whether those battery operated milk frothers have 130 motors in them or not.

They cost a measily $2 at discount stores in sydney cbd.

okay i might leave it den hahahahaha

1:18 im not into those i would rather get a tamiya mini to do club racing. but that would mean a better paying job and aregular timetable!

ahhhhh monday to friday 9 to 5 sooooon the dream will be a reality

    soon!

Dude it’s very easy to take the brushes out believe me, if I can do it anyone can ! I just used some open tweezers to seperate the two brushes when pulling the armature out.
    🙂

dgs, completely understand about not having time.

Got my silver Mclaren F1 asc the other day and she’s a beauty.

might be worth a treck out there with Z’s in tow… how long ago did you attempt contact? And what language?:smiley2:

Called them just yesterday. What Language ? No idea – some Asian dialect ?

On the web site they mention that there track is ‘Ozite’.:p:p:p

Be interesting to find out where they sourced it from if they still operate.

if i see your faster then me ill be most upset kev!

    jking

ill have to get a bb can and fix up my x-speed the same way lol

TD, If you get a bb can & end bell, make sure you get some motor brushes as well in case you need to replace the brushes.

The ones on my x-speed have about 1.5mm left on them.

Aaron, I haven’t ordered one yet. I was so impressed with Talldudes bearing motor that I had to have that one instead. But will definitely get the pro in the next order just to try out. 😀

DGS, sad to see you get rid of the hpi micro. That car was bloody quick it was dangerous.:smiley2:

I think this time next year, we all could be *possibly* running various 1:18 scale cars or various makes. I’ll be getting one eventually possibly a tourer or monster truck or both. The good thing about the 1:18 scale is that you can run indoors, outdoors and don’t need an absolute smooth surface to run on. 🙂

    damnit!

now i have to find another edge :p

will be interesting to see how it pans out, i have to change my set up so i can turn better……..but buying parts is prohibited for me until next week or the week after next it looks like blackeye:

I’ve moved all the internals of the x-speed motor into the bb can, cleaned it etc. etc. and noticed now that it appears to spin up faster, and audibly has that high pitched whine (the OMG that sounds quick) on full throttle.

I think water break in of the motor ain’t such a good idea. I had rust on the poles (is that what you call them) and had to use my rotary tool to remove it all.

I’ll add some bearing oil to the motor bearings later on tonight -don’t want to run the motor can bearings dry.

Will have to test it out on your Tamiya speed checker when your next there.

    :p:p:p

Something else that comes to mind that was kinda off was two of the screws (the top two in the pic) in the rollshock wouldn’t screw in any further than in the pic – just dodgy parts ?

I remember asking the same question at the beginning of the year when installing mine. That’s normal, there are suppose to be like this to allow for movement and to sit a different angles if needed.

I just realised the the Focus needed a high mount when I got the engine casing. I could still make the stock plastic one a high mount and use that right ?

Your ready set comes with a bunch of plastic bits, one of them allows the stock motor mount to be mounted in the high position.

Rather than put all parts on the car in one go, I tend to put things on one at a time to see if there is any ‘gain’ achieved from the part or if its just cosmetic.

For your twitching problem, is there enough solder on the antenna wire ?

yeah the motor i got is a dinball x-speed internals with a bb case.

i aint got no turbo nothing narda!!

i am runing a 10t pinon that accounts for my top speed. but the motor is quite good coz it has heaps of low down torque and i can take off qikly, faster then the 9t pinon boyz.

    the motor is way wicked.

I just ordered one. Hopefully it’ll arrive by Friday next week.

No more excuses for coming last because I won’t be.:smiley16:

Commutaor drops are generally used for 5 minute races etc.

Mini Z races go longer, so you would get a dirty commutator by the end of a race and need to strip and clean.

Thanks for the advice all, money better spent elsewhere since we don’t have any races.

Yeah – that’s what stopped me from getting one. Most ppl that review it say it isn’t worth the money.

If I get some time to myself over the weekend, I’ll transfer the x-speed internals to a new bb case that I bought for it a while ago.

Would like to see if really makes that much difference.

Either way, the x-speed I have needs a good clean.

i read somewhere that kevsta gave TD`s Xspeed the thumbs up, especially against a stock Xspeed. does kyosho put out the BB Xspeed or is this an aftermarket hop up? sounds like the motor to have when we`re having Xspeed races!!

My X-speed motor gets 23km/h consistently on the Tamiya speed checker.
TD’ mentioned that his motor gives 31 km/h on the Tamiya speed checker.

Not only that, but his car pulled away from mine like it was turboed in some way.

I got a feeling there’s more to it than ball bearings…

cheers DGS, i`ll look up some stuff i need to quote & give it go.. & yeah, is there ever a need to put spacers behind the metal motor mount clip (that goes on the stock plastic mount)i bought the other day? cant figure how i`d adjust it for spacing requirements when using 10 tooth+ pinion gears??

If your using the stock motor mount with metal clip than I think the largest pinion you can go is with the 9 tooth – although I think dgs and talldude have managed to slip in a 10 tooth in there !?. You will need the motor spacers between motor mount and motor, but non between the motor and metal motor clip. The clip is a tight fit.

For the full alloy motor mount, the largest I can fit in there is the 14 tooth pinion with near perfect meshing.

Sorry to hear about your peugeot. So you going to fix it, or get another car ?

I’ll be there next sunday. Sounds like everyone’s been breeding a speed demon while i was away! Time to see which of the mod motors is really fastest – although i cannot find my PN SO3 🙁

mocky u there? have you still got my motor and the turbo? I had a fet upgrade and the motor should be ok….

I purchased a T1 motor from taiwan, but it’s really from HK. It’s from a company called ATOMIC, and they’ve released their T2 recently (40000+rpm). the T1 is very interesting in that it uses the same motor case design as the famed Plasma DAsh from TAmiya. the brushes are very specialized.

THis motor is barely faster than my PN SO3 from memory. It cost an arm and a leg (45bucks)….I should get the PN SO4 Champion motor….i hear it’s the fastest machine wound yet.

Look forward to seeing u guys on sunday 🙂

Geo, Yes, it’ll be good to line them all up and see how they all go. Come to think of it, I didn’t get a chance to take on DGS’s car in an actuall drag type race.

Z-beam, I haven’t rolled my car yet. On the courts the only way you roll is either hitting another car or a big rock or getting airborne between some of the netball courts where there are water troughs.
Oh – and we do get long blond hair caught in our ball diffs on the odd occasion.

Dgs, motors are getting better – check out the latest minizworkshop.com ones that are available. He’s got a 28T 40,000 rpm one on there now at not a bad price too.
