Otherwise it’s a hall setup with lead partitions for everyone!

Haha, that lead box is a darned good idea… for we’ve found when we finish racing and the next heat starts, the last lot of cars are usually still half charged and they go heywire!! 🙂

Currently we either stand them offground on little erasers, or walk them 30′ away to the next room.

And PandaBear, I assume that by ‘no hopups’ you mean that we all race with the Aussie compact standard Nicad, 2.2, orange gears, medium tyres? Otherwise my poor Celica won’t have a chance with 1.0 motor and all… 🙁

Ya, if trying to organise racing I’d suggest we keep it “stock” Compact Char-G with the 2.2, but anything slower is permissible. We could even be free on the gears and tyres too… just no extra batteries on dual Bits etc.

Depending on track, a *slower* car could be beneficial!! 👿

Haha I too have copy of MicroElectronics by Krause, and quite a few other texts too. I bow to all who can understand all that stuff about doping, saturations, cutoffs etc etc … (sigh) I’m only good enough to wire up a lightbulb.

Extendable batons are (1) pretty illegal and (2) more pain-in-butt than they’re any good for. The friction-fit ones don’t work as well as they promise and I really can’t see the point of it all. If you can be bothered to carry one then by all opinions you’re a troublemaker, fair enough too.

There are better ones that are auto-extend, and some come in the shape of an umbrella. 😀 (Handy when rains too!). I’d swear by a 4xD Maglight instead though… when I get around to buying one.

haha, I thought Tassie was nice & peaceful, unlike mainland cities??

Heat & traction loss isn’t the big hassle, its that the still spurgear gets better grip and makes it go crab-like. 🙁

Sounds ok tho, I guess with the compacts we might go up to 5 at a time, but we may still have interferences towards the lower end of the frequency range.

We have trouble with the 35/40/45…

Haven’t got a 49 which might help – may run ok with 40 – but this still only gives us 4 cars, either:
    27/35/45/57 or
    27/40/49/57

    Sigh, can’t win… 🙁

Ya exactly. And they had trouble with one of their freqs too, can’t remember if its 27 or 40.

Wouldn’t hold my breath if we’re relying on Tomy UK.

Mini-Z come in either 1 of 3 different lengths (S/M/L), and 2 motor positions (low/high) to suit the different bodies.

Before buying a new shell make sure its either (1) the same as your current one or (2) you’ve got the right parts to convert. 😀

Ya, just buy one that you prefer.

With hindsight though, if you’re always running on carpet maybe a Overlander might be cute. Std mZ tyres are too low-profile for thick pile.

But if you’re racing then a std mZ is the go.

Heh heh… I chanced across that whilst surfing around and “aha, IRF7389 sounds familiar”. I too have no idea what that spec sheet is telling us, a HEXFET etc etc, is it even PNP?

Most importantly, why can’t they tell us “yes you can use it in your MiniZ ESC”??? Would make it so much easier! 😀

Getting ppl together is actually the easy part… its working out frequency clashes that’s the main headache!!

I’ve bought & given away enough BCGs to field a grand prix, but we still can’t run more than 4 cars together.

Its very well ppl attending with single cars, but really to seriously race you’ll need everyone bringing 4 cars *each* on different freqs. Then you can have different races with different racers.

And to make it fair… no hopups! 👿

    Nah, that’s too bogan.

You want the one that pumps 50,000V into the metal doorhandles. 😯

Unfortunately that’s not on sale in Oz, so you’ll just have to build it yourself… who’s got a spare taser I could borrow? :clown:

LOL thats the way, or you could use the south african method, which means flame throwers under the door handles to stop intruders.

    Nah nah naH!
You’re getting your stories wrong, Jamie… you notice how those gadgets are usually attached to modern cars like BMWs, Mercs… you’ll never pull it off with a ancient Monaro.

    Why???

Biggest problem being, anything of that age will usually be smelling of petrol, if not actually dripping gas. Those V8s run so rich there’s enough unburnt carbos out the tailpipe to idle a Hyundai.

Add any flame and the car would probably go up first!!!:smiley2:

(a great idea for cool-car owners to stop smoking too)

Has anybody done the QFM mod #30, extending charge time by replacing the capacitor on a Compact controller? I modded my Bit controller last night and now it charges for about 75 secs at a time. Not actually the 90 secs that I expected but better than the original anyway.

Yes, it works ok. We had some pix on the old Ausmicro forum but looks like the hacker wiped that post off.

Change time is proportionate to the size of the capacitor you’ve swapped in, nothing too scientific there. If you want it a bit longer just put in one slightly higher uF.

The lost post had pix that showed how I just piggybacked a 2nd cap on to of the original one but also stuck a mercury switch so one could choose between 1x or 2x charge time.

Skyline is 35Mhz… it may still interfere with 40Mhz cars. 🙁
