Quote:Damn, what a pain. Thats a bit odd though, they *should* be the same chip, unless its a different manufacturer, then I suppose the internals will probably be different.
:)uASee that’s the bugger, they are both from Texas Instruments…..Go figure…..:dead:

Yeah, have some pics but I’m yet to post ’em. I’ve found a problem though. The SMD version of the 4017 won’t allow the leds to run without the diodes, yet the usual DIP version of the 4017 does!!!!! Go figure…. So I’ve got to redesign the pcb to accomodate 8 bloody diodes…. Gawd that gives me the sh1ts…..

Quote:3003 replaceing with 7389.I could pull four numbers out of my own arse thanks. What’s the FULL product number? Does it start with IRLML ???:p
What are the original FETs on the PCB and what are you replacing them with? I’ll see if I can investigate this a bit for you guys….
Why don’t you just find better (lower Rds) performing FETS instead of stacking them…. There’s no elegance doing it this way…..

(bit puritan)This was Kmart in Southland, Melbourne. I prolly got my price wrong. Can’t remember……:dead:
The pics are quite dark so it’s hard to see….But otherwise good job!:)

Kero, yes they do. I’ve got an Lxx and I’ve not had any problems…..
To filter from noise generated by the motor. The RF receivers in these cars are very sensitive.

My brain and some serious amounts of alchohol…
Prowler, post some pics of both sides of the PCB and we’ll see what we can do.

Alrighty then, after countless stuff ups and lots of useless pcb’s now lying around the place, I have finally got the PCB design done for this mod. Also the pcb will fit on top of the RX pcb.
Here’s a pic:

The pcb at the bottom right is the finished product. The two misfits at the top were my “better quality” stuff ups….
The black outline on the bottome left is what I used as the overlay to put the track desing onto the PCB.Good (read: sad) stuff!

IS the gearing on the rear axles the same colour? Different colours stand for different ratios…

Maybee they are being release with the tomy 3.0 motor. Hmmmm when I ‘ad a look at ’em in KMART yesterday they still seem to have the yellow 2.2’s in them…….. All the Compact I have bought to date have a 2.2………..
Dave, check your pm’s.

Thanks for the info man. I’m in melbourne as well….

True, my suggestion focused on 1/64 scale.
If the transponder is small enough, mount it in the chassis cavity next to the NiCd battery. This would offer better handling than on top of the pcb cover.

Sounds great dude, start another thread on this and post the circuit and we’ll get some development happening…..:D
I hear you about the cluttered workspace, same here….
Quote:You could get the Perfection Battery but its not too good (doesnt live up to its name, the most i could get into it was 112 mah…out of it was only 89mah.What do you mean jamie? How did you get these results? 200mah is it’s capacity, not how much current it can put out. That is dependant on the load…

Quote:ToyEast seem to have sold out of those batteries anyway. Probably easier for me to get something from DSE or somewhere anyway.I just ordered 2 of the 200mAh batts on sunday no sweats. I got my order confirmation yesterday saying all is cool……
